Found 2nd Apr 2008Made hot 2nd Apr 2008
There's never been a better time to try out PlayTrade, the new entertainment marketplace from Play.com. Throughout April you can sell up to 10 items on PlayTrade without paying any commission.

Give the house a Spring Clean, and find a home for all of those DVDs, Games, CDs and Books gathering dust on the shelves!

How it works:
Your first 10 sales during April will have their seller fees refunded.
If you already have products for sale through PlayTrade, you don't need to re-list them. Both new and old listings are covered by the promotion.
To qualify for the refund of fees, any orders should be dispatched to the customer within 2 days.
The 10% commission fee and the 50p closing fee will be refunded once you confirm dispatch. The refund may take up to 24 hours to appear in your PlayFunds account.
You will be credited with 100% of the sale value in your PlayFunds account.
If you wish to withdraw your funds instead of spending them on site, this will be subject to a 5% transfer fee.
If you are lucky enough to sell more than 10 items, our normal fees will apply from the 11th onwards. Please see our fees page for more details.
Our standard Privacy Policy and general Terms & Conditions apply. See website for details.

I have sold about 20 items through their site and never had a problem

Sell your DVDs, CDs, Games and Books for free...

No, thank you. I prefer to get at least some money for my stuff :-D

Playtrade cheaper than ebay, but the worst site I have ever sold on.

Sold a few items though play.com last time they did this, didn't have any problems at all. well worth selling items during april but at there normal rate i wouldn't bother.

And a mighty cut it was too if memory serves me well.

I havent updates my account within 21 days and im pretty sure they havent suspended my account.

i think play trade is quite good i had a load of cds that i couldn't be bother to keep re listing on eBay for 99p a pop i put them on play.com and noticed that no one else was selling the same ones apart from play themselves and i sold 3-4 within 2 weeks all for 4.99 each and one for 8.99 ive been well chuffed with the results from there it take s a lot longer to sell than on eBay but its easy to list. i just list the stuff then put it back on my shelf.

last time I got £100 for a load of old wii & xbox games, it was free to list & they didn't take any cut at all as long as the money stays in the play account. No probs for me as I buy a fair amount from there anyway.

If it's the same as last time it's free to lisst & they refund the % they normally take for a successful sale, you only loose any money if you try to take it out & transfer it into a bank account.

I sold some stuff for more than I brought it for thanks to a few deals on here.

The only problem I found was that you don't very often get feedback from people, I sold about 5 things & only got 1 feedback.

Cheers.
worto

Can anyone provide a direct link to the conditions please. I can't find it.

Play.com have nicked my Playtrade balance when I bought something with it but they cancelled my order

Can you purchase items with your balance, go via Quidco and also use a discount code?

Cool good find

thanks, shall list some stusff this weekend.

Can anyone just clarify if the items you list also need to be listed on PLAY?

I have a few of those 360 Wireless Entertainment Packs hanging around, a few phones that they don't list and a couple of cameras (also not listed).

Cheers.

Rubbish, when it's free, it's free. As it clearly says in the description they will refund as soon as you confirm dispatch. I've sold loads on playtrade over the last few months and it's been excellent overall. No fees is great news for me.

Yep, as with amazon marketplace, the items have to be on their site.

I believe so but haven't tried it yet. Paying with playfunds is the same process as with any other payment I think.

They charge a 5% fee for removing money from your account regardless of if the listing was free or not. You've got to take that into consideration with your price. I've sold about 50 items now and have about 4 feedback. All good mind you.

It's got to be better than flea-bay, especially not having to use Paypal which, and let's be honest, is an utter rip off.

Slightly OT but the dissadvantages of ebay were always out weighed by the relatively low cost of selling. Now the fees are in line with (for cds, dvds, games etc) the likes of amazon and playtrade but the whole process is much easier, quicker and more efficient on these sites.

still can't find the offer on play.com site.

yes, you can order from your playfunds & go through quidco I've just done that to preorder GTA IV

ordered it once then realised I might be able to go through quidco so cancelled my order & ordered again it has tracked fine but obviously not paid yet.

worto.

very easy to list....

thanks OP, let's hope I sell something!

voted cold - as it only goes live from april 2nd, not 1st - and i sold a dvd then so now im out by £1.69 in fees i should really get.

unfair to say first 10 in april, not including april 1st.

but playtrade are ok - and with no fees on 10 items you can list them a bit cheaper than you might usually, and then the sales should come fast.

on my old account i sold hundreds of pounds worth of items, it quick and a lot easier than ebay. plus you get decent prices for dvds too - sold on there bond 2 discers for over a fiver each.

usually playtrade does:

- takes a closing fee and a % of the price as a listing fee.
- takes a % of your amount as a transfer fee when transferring from playtrade to your bank account.
- disables the balance of your account for 21 days when you add a bank account.

I sold some items on here when the christmas free fees were active, they didnt charge any listing or completion fees at the time, which is what I see this as. Though you will probably be charged a fee to transfer your money from your play account to bank account.

I have had no problems to date. Also, play must offer the item themselves for you to list it (ie, you cannot list a book which play don't sell)

I've just sold my first item. Only another 9 to go. :-D

Play have taken £8.90 off a £74 sale.

Thanks god I will get this back as this is absolutely obscene at more than 10%.

How long do they take to refund ? I'm awaiting refund on a sale from the 3rd

Says this on first post.

I have also sold on the 3rd and set to dispatched on the 4th

I have still got the fees of 90p showing on a 3.99 sale. Has anybody else had their fees refunded since THIS offer started.

the fees from play are too high, they are affectively charging you 10% plus 50p then adding 5% in your play fund account if you wish to withdraw to your bank, personally, you should have a choice for free whether you want to spend on site or off, its not as if you will be encouraged to spend less on play.com as it is one of the most competitive websites out there today id love to know what the ebay fees are im sure it works about (off the top of my head) jst below this 11-12% on average if you include paypal!

I contacted play about the fees not being refunded (mine included) and they said:

We have been experiencing problems with the system issuing therefunds, … We have been experiencing problems with the system issuing therefunds, however it is being worked on and we hope to have it resolvedshortly. All outstanding refunds will be processed once this issue is clearedup.

How do you put your funds towards a purchase at Play? I only joined on 1st April. Do I have to wait a few weeks?

Added something to my basket and only option for credit card details.

After check out, on the "Click to Confirm Order" screen - on the right hand side, underneath the Voucher box - there's a Playfund box which you can use against your purchase.

So far, I have accumulated £130 in my Playfund account

Note. Today, received all my Playtrade April refunds into my account.

Cheers. I've sold two of out ten (one listing of 10 items) and now have £150, just sitting there to be spent.

Hopefully I'll sell a few more. I'd rather spend whatever I get than give the 5% back to Play.

Hi all

Apologies for the delay; all qualifying sales have now had their fees refunded.

Thanks for selling on Play.com
PlayTrade Tech Support Team

I sold something yesterday afternoon and im still waiting for fees to be refunded, Hope it dont take too long as i want to withdraw it to my bank.

Word of warning.

I sold a game with 4 install cd's. Before posting I loaded them all in my PC and checked they were readable.

The buyer said that a disk was split and was already like it, or damaged in the post (how !!!). He said the package was not damaged (sent recorded so he signed for it).
Playtrade say I have to refund. I said the buyer must have damaged it taking it out (this is the only way I think it could have happened), so I want to complain or start some dispute procedure.

They say I should claim against Royal Mail, but that seems like fraud to me as it was never possible to do damage like that. But it looks like I have no choice. Lost £12 for the sale plus delivery cost (£2.50)

Same as ebay/paypal who have zero 'real' customer support and just take the easy way out
