But you are spending/loosing 6-7K+ every two years for the rental - cant see why people see the appeal unless a work perk. Far better off buying a vehicle used which has taken the grunt of new car depreciation and owning it. You would be unlucky to have to spend anything near what you loose on maint and still has value at the end when you want rid. Get people cant afford brand new cars outright...but sod keeping up with the joneses, plenty of nicer cars used to play with

Condition: Used. Some general usage marks.

I feel your pain on the idiots when selling a car.
Last week I was selling my brand new Ford Focus Rs and got offered 6 and 7k less than the asking prices from 4 people lol. Ended up selling to a garage as I got sick of people.

I've tried selling several cars through EBay without success with the free classifieds of Gumtree to be much more successful.

why use ebay when you can sell it for free on gumtree - people seem to be a lot more reliable, although you still get silly offers

All eBay deals appear to be selected accounts only, rather than across the board. I didn't get an eMail invite for this one, it just appeared on My Summary (under Selling). So it's worth looking there to see if you have the offer.

Depends on what kind of car you're selling i guess. Personally i find Gumtree a pain in the neck when selling cars. All i ever get are people who can't speak English, wasting my time. (_;)

I was pretty gutted when I sold mine, garage gave me £30,500 but where the garage was in Carlisle there was no reception on my phone, when I left an e-mail came through from a local lad offerinf me £31,400 I felt physical sick lol. But the deal was done and its old news now.
I change my cars to often to be stuck in lease deals. I was tempted on the Golf R deal but thought about it.
I think next I'll go for a Bmw m4.
Just annoys me selling cars with people offering me silly low ball prices when I always sell cheap anyways.

I bet they won't give you the same offer when you have to relist it through timewasters. Classified anyday over auction.

Unlikely.

It's worth noting though that there is the option to do a fixed price listing (rather than just auction).

Yes car finance has gone through the roof. ALL these new cars you see on your street if not a company car will be dripped up.

What do you expect, if your selling a new focus rs I presume you are hoping to make a quick buck due to short supply. Ford should make it a requirement that you have to keep a rs for a year so the short supply go to genuine owners who want to keep and use not buy to speculate.

The posters reasoning has nothing to do with you, if someone wants to sell a car then that's up to them. They paid for it it's theirs to do as they wish.

For all we know he may have thought it was crap

waste of time on ebay as 99% of people just bid fo fun and dont turn up or if they come they haggle

thanks Op, clicked the link and signed up - no brainer

If you are selling privately, how do you guys accept payment ? I assume punters don't rock up with a carrier bag of cash ?
What's a safe method please?

Short supply lol. There's absolute loads for sale, cancelled orders can be had all over at dealers and if you want your own build 2 weeks wait. And making a profit! Trust me nobodys making a profit on these cars, yes when they first came out but people probably did as they were in demand due to waiting list, but they've been out over a year now.
I sold mine due to starting my own detailing business, and the price I had it up for was the cheapest in the UK for spec and optional extras. A dealer gave me £1000 less than I wanted in the end.

I tske cash or bank transfer.
If its bank transfer don't hand the log book over until the moneys in your account, even if they show you on their phone its been paid, make sure you have online banking to check.
And cash is fine as long as you can spot fakes.
Most cash I've taken was £20,000 but luckily my mothers a cash office counter so she can count super fast and see a fake a mile away.
You could also buy a pen to check notes but you'd be there all day with big amouts.

Don't be too gutted...you can bet the "local lad" with the £31,400 would have called off later or, at best, turned up and found a couple of wee faults therefore £30k max for cash blah blah blah....
I got a guy who came and insisted on leaving me a cash deposit of £50...THEN NEVER CAME BACK!!! Weird!!!

I've sold to many cars over the years to have that even happen lol. I've a YouTube channel with quite a following and you can see all my cars are mint, sold quite a few just from my videos. Theres no picking faults on anything I own, especially a few month old car lol.
WBAC are good sometimes, few friends have had really generous offers, but you'll always sell for more private.

Didnt get a single contact when I tried selling car on ebay - was waste of money !

Less hassle at We want Your Car
