I know these guys have a really bad reputation but I've sent 75 parcels and only 1's went missing. Better bands of pricing, slightly more for courier collection.

They are very bad...items I have sent have been smashed. Only good for solid items that are physically unbreakable.

Their compensation terms is very clever....any composite is not covered. Composite means...(wikipedia)..."Composite materials (also called composition materials or shortened to composites) are materials made from two or more constituent materials with significantly different physical or chemical properties, that when combined, produce a material with characteristics different from the individual components. The individual components remain separate and distinct within the finished structure. The new material may be preferred for many reasons: common examples include materials which are stronger, lighter or less expensive when compared to traditional materials."

Basically, 98% of anything you'll send is made of composte materials, so that their 'get out of jail free' card they'll use when you try and make a claim.

Customer service is terrible, if they cant find the buyers premises they can't talk to them directly to assist them they point blank refuse to talk to them. Ignore delivery instructions, no holding of packages try to deliver twice then it goes back. Any problems with hermes you have to talk to the seller for the seller to talk to hermes stupid company.

Who would you recommend?

they`ll not compensate if it has any glass whatsoever!!!!!!!!!!!!! lost £20 through this

Awful company! I have been on the receiving end of a Hermes delivery. My local delivery man is the most obnoxious person I have ever encountered! I'm sure not all of their owner drivers are of the same level, but I would not wish Hermes on anyone.

I now ask people before buying from them, who they are going to use. If they state Hermes, I buy elsewhere...
So sellers, while you think you're getting a good deal for a cheap courier, be mindful that you may actually be losing business by using this sorry shower!

I did receive the refund once my parcel was lost. It's a mixed bag a lot of people do have great success with them.

use this company at your own risk, worst ever in my experience.

used them 100's of times, one parcel went missing - fully refunded, never damaged anything ...

Slow removal of my toe nails with pliers or send a parcel via Hermes........ I'll take the pliers please Bob.

I guess everyone has a different experience with Hermes, mine hasn't been great.

So glad my last local driver jacked it in as everything arrived smelling of fags from her chain smoking.

Which courier company will compensate if it has any glass?

I know Hermes won't because the parcels go up a conveyor belt in their central hub and there's a drop at the end of it. Saying that just received a parcel containing 5 glass domes today, via Hermes and they're all fine. I guess if it's packed properly...

Hermes & Yodel ... Both as bad as each other.

used hermes for a high value parcel, much cheaper than RM and would defo use again.

I've been using them for a few months - not had a problem.

I would only use Hermes for low value items that are too large for small parcels, worst courier company by far

Very, very unprofessional company, they basically employ "Some bloke with a car" for their delivery drivers, one guy turned up at 9:00PM at my house, smoking a fag, asking for some address I'd never heard of. I politely explained this to him and he just kept going on about how he'd been trying to find it for half an hour. Suspect he was a bit special.

I refuse to buy from anywhere if I know it will be sent by these monkeys, hopefully in time they'll just fade out of existence, like shell suits and onesies.

Never had a problem with these people at all. Buy the stamp - print out the label - stick it on your parcel - take to the local shop. Been really convenient for me.

Been using for around 6 months - no issues whatsoever. Sent around 50 packages, all delivered, no breakages :-)

Re: comment on glass, guessing this was v. well packaged?

only had 1 problem which was sorted. overall they have been excellent.

Convenient for the sender maybe, but from being on the receiving end of this service, I can tell you, it's not a pretty affair!

Garbage company period!!! Can never find my house ever, impossible to talk to unless you are the sender . Worse than yodle avoid like the plague.

Left my parcel from house of Fraser under an old bucket outside my door, not even covered luckily got back 20mins after it arrived and I'm still very surprised it wasn't stolen

Recieved an item yesterday that was clearly marked Fragile.
It was smashed to pieces.

first - you never put fragile sticker on - guaranteed destruction
second - was it secure? or does ppl think they can put stuff into plastic bag, marked as fragile and it will arrive ok?

very good company sent over 700 items with them only about 5 have gone missing and I've been compensated fully.

never again, they might be cheap, but ur lucky if you get ur items, not blaming the drivers blaming the company who set inpossible targets ,just paid £12.92 for a parcel from royal mail, sooner pay that than for my grandaughter not getting her presents,

Never had any problems either as a seller or buyer, to be honest everyone who judges a company from a single experience, should only be allowed to go to the shops and never ever receive anything in the mail.

With the exception of DPD, who's service really stands out, such as letting you know the time of arrival, but by god do they charge for it. I've had a worse experience from every other courier company I can think of.

Royal Mail: 2% of my post is lost, which is better than the national average. Fortunately, these are most low value and their min compensation often means I make more money.

City Link: Sat outside the house for 2 hours, then tried to card me, luckily I have CCTV so could prove it if necessary. I've visited their depots on a couple of occasions, it's quite simply impossible for myHermes to treat parcels worse.

UPS: I only use for heavy but relatively valueless parcels, they've managed to destroy 1, and get a live snake in another (long story), out of only around 10 I've sent.

TNT: I had a delivery and watched the guy lob a box, which was clearly an LCD monitor, from one end of the truck to the other. I've had several deliveries from Staples which were damaged by the TNT courier.

ParcelForce: Badly dented parcel, would have been broken if it wasn't for the fact it was made from titanium. I'd trust these with larger more valuable parcels because they're the best of a bad bunch whilst still remaining cost effective when booked through Interparcel.

myHermes: Never lost or damaged anything I've shipped, I've sent 100s of parcels via them.

mike

I've not had any issues either, easy to track easy to drop off everything I've ever sent has arrived safely

Yes, it was. The sender did an excellent job, but it's only what you'd expect when shipping glass.

Cheap yes. Good no. Everyone has different experience, but the main feeling is that this is a very poor service, hence the cold votes. Personally I'd rather pay a little more for piece of mind.

No problems here, dozen parcels sent - no issues, love the ebay integration.

I have used myhermes over 270 times in the past 12 months. Nothing has been smashed, nothing has gone missing. You print off the label, affix and drop off at a local shop....or pay an extra 20p and they pick up. Once you get to know your local courier you can organise specific pickup details with them.....very convenient. As long as you pack securely you wont have any breakage issue, common sense really. Cheaper than the post office, sometimes by LOTS!!
