Send Parcels up to 1kg for only £3 @ my hermes

Found 15th Apr 2013
I got stung today at the post office sending a parcel what was only £2.20 to post the last time I posted it. I know the prices have gone up and I was expecting to pay £2.60, but no it was £5.20.

I looked on here for the link that I had seen over the weekend for the £3.90 deal that was posted, as I thought that would be a good saving as I have another parcel to post around the same Weight.
Clicked onto the site and it only costs £3.00 for up to a kilo.
As my parcel is just over 500gms I am over the moon
So I thought I would share it here

Hermes is beyond crap .. no idea when its to be delivered or redelivered etc. ... not even contact details that work on the delivery card - god awful

Hermes is crap though, delivery made by a mother with baby sick all over the parcel. As long as RM isn't on strike I would always rate them over any of the Yodel-Hermes etc delivery services.

hot and thanks for the info

Given the fact I queried the £4.75 charge for a tshirt on eBay the other day, and looked at the price on RM for a Tshirt weight parcel/ 2nd class recorded was £4.10...bargain!
Heat given!

Does a 1Kg parcel really need a separate post, when we've had quite an extended discussion on the 2Kg?

I clicked on the thread and was expecting to pay £3.90 after having a quick look....So yes I think so.

The RM price increase for parcels is shocking. It's based on the reasoning that a (slightly) larger parcel is more expensive to deliver. The pricing structure is also overly complex. Heat added if only to send a message to Royal Mail.

Here come all the separate posts on different weight costings... Not needed if common sense is used.

Why? I had seem a thread over the weekend for hermes, Which I knew I had seen for deliveries at £3.90!
As Also said I have used collect plus for larger items which I know costs £3.99!
As we all need to make savings I though I would give hermes a try and noticed it was only £3 for the sized parcel I was sending. So I must be very dim eh, because I was over the moon I though to share it here. But there you go we all learn
from sceptics.

you choose don't take it personally, some people on here just love moaning. Hotukdeals can you create a. badge for The moaners?

i work for royal mail and it does not cost anymore to deliver any size parcel all rm care about is amazon who have fiddled tax for years and there parcels are the biggest ever thats why postmen have vans this is a public rip of

Can confirm that Collect + have v pleasant customer service, admittedly only used once but on that basis would use again :-)

I've been using My Hermes for the pass 3 years now, never had a problem.

Its cheaper sending a 1kg parcel via My Hermes than sending it Collect+, my Hermes will collect your parcel from your doorstep at a cost of £3.30 or you can drop your parcel off at one of their drop off points for £3.00.

Couldn't agree more. I sell used items on eBay and for any shoes or boots RM wanted to charge £8 second class so thats rules out sending a box because of the stupid 8cm depth limit. They deserve to lose a lot of customers for this daft pricing structure. I've used the Hermes drop off service since the RM price rise and found them to be reliable and my customers are happy.

Heat added just out of principle that Royal Mail charges too much for the service they offer.

I used to use rm 85 percent now will b 85 percent courier just hope and pray enough pressure put on rm to change this 8cm depth items that was 220 b 4 April now 520 do they truly expect people to pay it no online tracking and poxy 20 quid insurance biggest scandal I've seen in years

my wife and I have been using MyHermes for some of her parcels for the past year or so because they have always worked out better than Royal mail for anything larger than a small packet. There's usually a 25% discount code around for new accounts too so we just create a new account each time we use them.. We haven't had any problems with deliveries and even though it says 3-4 days, the items quite often arrive next day.

I doubt it's coincidental that the new size guide for Royal mail parcels at 16x16x16 is just a tiny bit smaller than the length of a blu-ray, so now sending a couple of those together will probably work out expensive..

Hermes are cheap for a reason!

Need I say more. Royal mail are just giving their customers away. Couriers didn't even have to compete by pride and all of a sudden they've got Ann increase in business. Used myHermes five times this last two weeks since the price increase and so far so good.

Hey! not a problem

Ref: Mother and Baby, at least the Mother is supporting herself working for a living, she is forced to work with baby in tow because the Government has once again ruined Great Britain. The carrier service is forced to make cuts to keep a float what business they have left, employing Mothers with their own cars keeps the companies running costs down and creates jobs.

Ref: Royal Mail. Their customer service is appalling, Their Sign For online tracking service is not a guarantee the information gets uploaded. Not all Posties get the recipients signature, some posties even sign for the recipient instead of obtaining the original. Parcels, letters arrive damaged and the time and arrival of the post service is a hit and miss. Any compensation claim you receive is in stamps.

The Vote is out I'm afraid.

Too many chiefs inhabit PO. Just some examples:
Sending a small envelope now involves the person at the counter to slip it through some yellow plastic slit. At the main branch
they are trained to try as hard as possible to stop it from going through.

Redirect 'service'. Complained to PO that other peoples mail at our address was being redirected, so it should be cancelled.
Trained 'lacky' put the phone down stating that I was being abusive because I stated that the people doing this were incompetent,
whereas he stated it was a series of mistakes. They have monopoly, cannot be sued, so take liberties.

Sent a letter Recorded Delivery. Tracking for this is 'service' is hit and miss. Lost letter. Refunded me in stamps.

Ever received a parcel where people pay £8 for the 'service' of PO collecting duty.

PO deliver mail for private companies. Who approved that 'service'!?

£20 insurance with RM?

You must be the most ignorant person I've ever come across. Everyone and their dog knows that base compensation on anything whatsoever with RM is £40+, think it's at £46 at the moment provided you can prove value to some degree.

Dallas Im not sticking up for rm I'll shall switch but I've received compinsation from them in a form of a cheque(not stamps)?

All the royal mail lovers must have money to burn give away . When I hear all the chargers customers being asked for on not massive items 10 pound etc makes me want to inform them how they are being ripped off . only use RM are now is for posting a cd or shirt etc anything with packaging u will get ripped off at 5.20

Try this link royalmail.com/per…ems

royal mail new costs are rubbish. I split my package today and sent as two large letters with royal mail to the same address, far cheaper than using their small parcel service if i sent it as one. (_;)

Errr 46 insurance u the stupid one not me the 46 insurance is on recorded which a extra 110 so making it 630 even bigger ripp off derrrr get facts correct b 4 slagging me off . R.m joke full stop

I have used My Hermes many times in the past and never had a problem with them at all. The service is excellent and is far better than Royal Mail. RM are ripping people off now and with there latest increase I think they will find that more and more people will start using the likes of My Hermes/Collect +.

All the Royal Mail are good for now is for sending 1st and 2nd class letters..........thats it!
