This comment is a disappointment.

Voted Hot for those who can be bothered to visit a store and can then actually find stock

As OP says "Sadly no longer available online, but they're still available instore." then wake up HMV, send some of the unsold stocks back to main warehouse for online delivery. I'm still waiting for my online order to complete.

What's so wrong with giving his opinion on the product?

I've had them for a while and they are ok in terms of sound quality. But the sound leakage is quite bad that people around you can hear what you are listening even on the medium volume.

Totally agree I have the 218i (they appear identical so no idea what the i means ) the sound leakage is too much. I also found they do not go very loud (via iphone) and just by chance when out running I happened to put a hat over the top of them and the addional pressure against my ears made them sound like I wished they did all the time.

im not dissapointed with them but also think they are nothing special.

Everyone has an opinion, that's fine then share it to help others but HMV have sold out online, listing been removed so what does that tell you. Are they completely sheight? IMO, no but OK for the price. You pay your money, you take a choice.

Same for the Sony MDR-XB400 have sold out online but listing still there. Get the impression that HMV will not relist the Sennheiser HD218 anymore but who knows.

Popularity between Sennheiser HD218 (with headband cushion) & Sony MDR-XB400 (no headband cushion) suggest they are good for the price hence sold out online + it's delivered to your door.

different departments -why do you think HMV online is approaching ok prices whilst instore it still ridiculous prices akin to your firstborn for the first series of Everyone Loves Raymond? seriously, i bought Stardust a few years back for £3 from Sainsburys, was in HMV later that day and it was £20, HMV are going under because the person in charge of price setting isn't living on same planet as rest of us

Got some 219's no idea on difference they look identical. I think thats a good deal for 15 quid

I need help sorting some headphones, been looking and researching for over a week

started at sennheiser 212pro and some of the other deals on here such as the denon ahd1100 but for every good review there is a rubbish one

now find myself looking at the B&W P5's (great reviews but not sure some are genuine??) so gone from £20 to £250 which i am still not convinced i can justify, dont get me wrong dont mind paying £250 if they are worth it?

any recommendations....mainly iphone and ipad movies etc

I have these. Same problems as mentioned before - they leak sound and are not very loud.

I bought them with a gift voucher and they were much more expensive, very disappointed. At this price, they're ok.

The bowers and Wilkins P5's are great, although I'd recommend the P3's which cost around 160 and actually outperform the P5's. I'd go for them.

Good riddance!

HMV no surprise... I was in there Sunday, Maidstone branch. Looking for an iPod dock alarm radio. Found a nice Sony one, £49.99, which after a swift look online I found was a good price. Only thing was, none boxed in stock, only the display model. No problem, I thought, as they had several ex display models (other brands) at the end of the display. I called over a sales assistant, asked if they had any new ones 'out back': no, then asked if I could buy the display model for 20% off: £40. Off went the chap to "ask a manager", who said no. They couldn't sell the display model as that would leave no model to sell the product (products that weren't there!). I asked him if he were serious, here we were just out of a recession with high street retailers going into administration one by one, yet he was refusing to sell me an item? Indeed. Well good luck selling that now!

Whilst the market has moved on, so has customer service and common sense. From my (limited) experience, if that is symptomatic of the HMV approach, it's little wonder they are where they are.

By the way, same item new, Tesco direct: £40, new customer £10 off. Wonder if they'll be calling the administrators in..?

Couldn't agree with you more. The lack of common sense not only at HMV but elsewhere in this country is astounding.

HMV are going into Administration tomorrow.

They had already met their would be administrators in November. Christmas boost in revenue meant a reduction in losses for their creditors(banks) accumulated so that was why you only hear about it in January as no one would want to miss out on business over Christmas. Then losses are reduced as suppliers are not paid in January, people who bought stuff during Xmas will not have gift vouchers, credit notes and warranty honoured.

these are same price in tesco..b.leys leic......and saw them in sainsburys the other week...same price..thats all these are worth....Had mine for a year or so now, they,re ok......not upto the GRADO ...but for 20 what do you expect......

In relation to my previous post.

UPDATE: Just had all of 3 them delivered this morning via RM after HMV.com website has been down since the days the administrators were officially announced so be aware that your orders may possibly fulfilled & despatched. Was so worried with my order (purchased with 20% discount + £40 worth of credit) as could not get online access to my account orders. Gift vouchers are still accepted instore but still no online access to HMV.com atm.

Update......these are still in stock now.....Leic Hmv. Friday, .....now only £11.20 ........I got two sets......These sound OK on my mp3 players. and tablet.........buy....
