daaaamn i would really love these in other colour, they are so beautiful, shame not for same price.
So how do these compare to the old HD595s? Ive actually moved to the HD600s but tempted to replace them with these purely as theyll be easier to drive

Same as you, great price, great headphones. Do it!
I was not going to spend any more money on headphones, but I ended up missing the HD598's deal last year and my biggest gripe has always been the beige...I guess I'm buying a set of headphones, but if they last me as long as my 595's have I don't have to buy a replacement for another seven years atleast.
Ordered. Already have the normal ones but just incase they **** up this is good.
Sorry, I accidentally voted cold instead of hot

My 555s and 595s are still going strong! My headphones might actually outlive me at this rate!
well worth the money. Especially for the less snazzy looking black version!
Brilliant price
Insane price, love them for gaming and music.
Yep - I'm in... I've had the 558 model for the last 7 years, still going strong, aside from a little wear.
Definitely worth the money, absolutely superb sound staging and build quality. Love them
Been waiting for this to come down in price for a while, Ordered. Thanks OP, headphone number 5 for me.
Tkx op ordered a pair

only for birmingham, london, newcastle...
Do these require a headphone amplifier in order to get the best out of them when connected to a desktop PC, laptop or tablet?

Any recommendations around £100 or under please?

To answer your question the answer is no. This is still relatively a cheap set considering the HD600, 650 and 700 are many mulitples of this price. Its these higher models that will benefit from an amp.

I personally would say this model is the budget "audiophile headset". Anything below this model is for non serious listening.

For under £100 you will not find better. Buy it.

lol...mine as well, and I didn't even buy them brand new but second hand off ebay (so who knows they are probably over a decade old.) they are still running strong I've replaced the cable and velour pads but other than that still going strong, which surprises me as it's all plastic build.

I've taken the little padding out of the 555s which basically turns them into the 595s as they use the same drivers so I technically have 2 595s and they are just too good to replace!

These will work fine without an amp but the sound will be very slightly better with one. These are not that hard to drive so will work fine without.
I bought a pair on monster n tunes which i highly recommend had them for 2 years with no signs of wear and tear and they are very cheap now although they were ~£100 on release. They are similar to beats solo hd (which my sister has) with slightly less heavy bass and better all around sound to give a reference point. You can pick up last gen model on ebay for only £35 which is amazing for the sound quality. Sound hasn't changed much on the newer models.
I have the cream version, great sound, good price. I bought last year for about 65 on amazon.fr.

For those who want to switch their cream to black, used sell for around this price on bay so you could with no/minimal loss. I thought about it, I would traditionally prefer black, but these aren't worn outside (open ear leaks sound and too big to carry around) and the cream design has a certain appeal, makes it look higher end/classy, different in a good way.
Great price. Already own too many headphones, must not buy
Are there any other headphones around this price that offer similar or better sound quality?

Thanks for above replies.

Very tempted...
i've looked at some other ones like the Beyerdynamics DT990 pro which look like there a bit more bassier so they'd be more fun for single player games but from what I understand, I would need a heavy duty amp to get the most out of them? Is it better to go with the HD598 for me? I've got a Xonar DGX in my computer currently and I'll mostly be using it for single player games with the occasional multiplayer game.
Excellent deal, supper Hot!
If my cream pair accidentally broke I'd get these immediately! I can't believe they are £75! These are the best headphones for gaming and late night TV I have ever used! I'm soo tempted to get a 2nd alternate colour! Black Friday is here indeed!
Caved in and ordered even though I've got the HD558s, which are excellent but hopefully I should be able to get a chunk of the cost back selling them on. Too good a bargain at that price.
Was about to purchase but read that sound leakage is very high and they are required to be worn in a quiet office

Definitely avoid in that case, as they are open backed, although it should be pointed out this is part of the design and not a fault
Just over 7 hours remaining for this ultra-low price people for anyone still on the fence over whether to order these or not.
Opened backed headphones are the better sounding headphones unless you like bass e.g. rap etc

I hummed and hawed all day about these. The price was too good to pass on Cheers OP

The whole point of these is them being open back design, not recommended if you don't want others knowing what you are listening to. Not sure about the quality but Curry have the closed back Bose headphones for £65, they seem to have some good reviews with the biggest negative being about it's original price, so that might be more suitable.
