Sennheiser Momentum Headphones £207.91 @ Amazon Italy

Found 12th Feb 2013
I was on Amazon Italy looking for another pair of headphones and came across this. This might benefit someone looking for the highly rated Sennheiser Momentums. Seems to be cheaper than anywhere else by about £40 to £50.

235 Euros + 7 Euros delivery equates to about £208 going on the current exchange rate.

Hope this helps someone!

this is a much better price for these. I think they're a bit over priced normally, but they are dammed good as a portable.
does anyone own a pair? i would like to get an impression of what these sound like. i really should resist!
yeah I do. There's loads of reviews around. They're heavy in the upper bass but its good and the midrange is quite prominent too so the bass doesn't sound like it effects the rest much. very easy to drive and sound great on iphone and samsung galaxy phones. very soft leather on the ear pads but they're not big enough to go completely around the ears. isolate quite well...

need to know anything else?

Sounds good thanks mate

Wonder if these are a major step up from the philips l1. Or how it compares to akg550.

Have read many reviews but always nice to get a personal opinion.
You're welcome JJ,

I prefered the Momentum compared to the Philips L1 when I tested them side by side on my phone but its possible that a better amp could make the L1 shine more. I don't find the Momentums to perform exponentially better on a good amp, it shows the bass up to be a little bloated. You could probably fix it with EQ, but that's not really my thing.

The AKG K550 is massively different to either of the other two. It's extremely bright in the highs, which adds a crispness to the detail but it's not better than the detail you get from a top end open Sennheiser or Beyerdynamic. The biggest thing that would put 'normal' people off the K550 is that they're very bass light in general, compared to either the L1 or Momentum the difference is extreme!!. If you've ever enjoyed bass with a decent amount of body steer well clear of the K550. Isolation is not great on the K550 either unless you constantly hold them on to your head, there is a huge lack of clamping pressure. I used to own the K550 and as you can tell I pretty much hated it!

I use a little Fiio E17 amp and can say it definitely opens up the low end. I found that bass was a bit more controlled and punchier rather than slightly muddy at times. So maybe an amped L1 isn't too far off from the momentums from what you say.

Hmm sounds like the k550 is neutral and doesn't have that fun sound to it! I better stay away.

hey I have the Fiio E17 too, great little DAC!

To get over the feeling of bass presence (or body) for a few headphones I will mark them out of 10 (10 being the most). This is not quality btw, just amount.

Denon D7000 - 9
Senn Momentum - 9
Senn HD650 - 8
Senn HD600 - 7.5
SoundMAGIC HP100 - 6.5
Beyer DT880 - 5
AKG K550 - 2
AKG K701 - 1.5

in that chart I would say sounds about 'right', to me, is somewhere between 6-8. I would call the SoundMAGIC is about the most neutral there, perhaps the Beyerdynamic.

I definitely prefer bass control over bass amount. There are too many cans out there that do bass wrong IMO!
I agree. I like bass but it has to sound real. all the ones I list there have nice bass. if you're looking for a really good balance I highly recommend the SoundMAGIC HP100, or HP200 if you are ok with open back.

The HP100 bass is very deep and smooth but not overwhelming. it's a very under rated headphone and a bargain at £170!
