**Update - Thanks to MitchellT for posting a different Senn deal, causing me to check back on this - Now £59.99 from the previous deal price of £64.99, which was brill at the time anyway**

Another drop on these, works out a little cheaper to get them delivered than the previous C&C deal.

I've got a set of 2013 Astro A40s and they are brill with the mix amp (via optical connection) Sadly the mic is now on the blink, the ear cup padding is softening and the band is getting creaky. It's been great and I was tempted to just get another A40 Headset to replace it, but the more I think about it, the more I want to go Sennheiser (3.5mm jack via the Mixamp)

Pretty tempted to go with a decent set of headphones and a mod mic, buuuuut the price pushes up a fair bit. Considering the PC350 SE at the moment, but I need to make sure it's going to work via the old 2013 Mixamp. I'd hate to bin the amp off, it's super handy and I like going via optical anyways.

Feel free to throw recommendations around, I've been at it a while but can't pull the trigger. These seem a fair price so onto the shortlist they go, with some of their others.

So I'll stop rambling now - Just FYI this is the 3.5mm jack 2015 version and NOT USB

Will let you know what i go with in the end, if you even care haha

They would if you buy an astro mixamp and they would be the best headset you can have without spending £300+ or buying stronger amplifiers
These or Hyperx Cloud II? (or is there something else better at the price point?)

You don't need an Astro Amp for PS4, you just need an adapter lead to connect the two connectors in to 1, like you would use on your phone.. this then just plugs in to your controller.. Official one here, but you could probably get a cheaper one else where.. just be careful as I know some others will have different pin layouts..

These are better than the hyper x cloud 2's although the hyper x's are also really good for a gaming headset. At this price point the sennheisers are a really good deal.

Seems like a much simpler and cheaper way to go. Cheers mate.
Great headset for the price. Heat

The sound from the controller is awful.

If you are going to use that then save yourself £50 and get a cheap headset off Amazon.

This is like buying a top of the range performance sports car then filling it with cheap petrol with the wrong Ron rating, sticking budget cheap tyres on it and taking it to kwik fit for a service.

Buy a decent headset use a decent source. Mixamp or other specialists DAC/amp

You must have a faulty controller mate, sound quality is absolutely fine, are you worried that the echo on your footsteps while playing call of duty is not replicated exactly as real life or something?!

Nope I'm just used to high end products.

I have about £5k worth of headphones and DAC/amps and then another £5k worth of home cinema speakers and amp in the living room.

So I know what crap sounds like and I have 3 controllers and they are all the same crap

Most people don't have 10ks worth of AV equipment, and wouldn't likely notice a significant difference, especially not so much to justify at least double the cost..

The question asked was "Would these work with PS4?", Your response was not unless you buy the astro Amp, which is not correct, it may give you better audio quality, but it's not required to use this with the PS4, and I suspect most people on HUKD would be satisfied with a cheap lead..

However it's good to mention the separate amp for those that want better audio fidelity and good to hear your opinion that you think this combination would be great.

For full disclosure for those who don't use proper headphones with the PS4.. I've got a pair of Sennheisers (with no Mic) which until recently I was using on the PS4 and the sound is great! I also recently purchased a much cheaper headset (because I wanted a Mic) which is a bit more bass heavy and definitely not as comfortable but the sound quality is absolutely fine for game play.. I'm still considering getting these for when inevitably the cheap ones die, and had I not bought the cheap ones I would likely jump on getting these,, Hot from me with or without amp..

Dual shock controllers don't have powerful enough DAC/amp for proper headsets. Neither is the Bluetooth controller within the dual shock decent enough to send a high quality audio signal.

These would work but not very well. Like I said before you would be better off with a £15 headset if that's what you want to do

Absolute rubbish. These would work perfectly fine and would definitely be a improvement over a budget £15 headset for audio quality even if it's output from a DS4.

Side note: Let us all see your £10k setup, (I am genuinely interested too).
Your Welcome!
Why on earth would you buy a gaming headset to plug it in the controller. Surely the point is to take advantage of Sennheiser's specifically designed soundscape which would come from a processor, like the MixAmp or a Sennheiser GSX amp. In my opinion if your going to buy these, pair them with something substantial enough to give multi chanel audio. Otherwise buy a cheap stereo chat headset for £10 and save £50.

The most impressive would be my sennheiser hd700, hd600 hd558's modded, AKG q701's.

Speaker wise bk xxls400, monitor audio silvers with 2 floorstanders , centre and rears. Top of the range Yamaha AVR from the 2017 line up.

You can Google pictures of the above easily enough

You are half right.

The controller has terrible sound quality and cannot do these justice. However multi channel audio is not needed. It's a stereo headset.

A mixamp will take a 5.1 signal and convert it into stereo with faux surround .

A decent set of headphones like AKG q701 will smash any surround sound headsets. The soundstage and depth is rarely seen. Maybe a handful of headphones in the same bracket for gaming.
Just bought this. Sound is terrible, there's no bass and sound is weak, it's like listening to the sound on my inbuilt mobile phone speakers set to loud speaker.

Does anyone know if there's a specific reason for this, like do I need an "amp" and if so which one? I'm just using my motherboards integrated sound card, which is the ASRock Intel Z170 Extreme4 (7.1 CH HD Audio (Realtek ALC1150 Audio Codec), Supports Purity Sound™ 3 & DTS Connect), and it says it has two amps for headphones built in, yet this is utter garbage. I've never had headphones plugged into the PC that sound so bad and so "far away", and I've had much better headphones than this in terms of quality/price.

Also, if it needs an "amp" it should advertise that.

These aren't made for immersive gaming or bass.

You should have bought Fidelio X2 or something like that.

An amp will help with power but not bass.

You need a decent headphone amp to drive it. The headphone amp on some motherboards are only on the front audio sockets...and these sockets usually have crappy wiring. These headsets are not bass heavy but more neutral. Under the correct conditions they can provide decent punchy bass and reach low frequencies. I recall there being a "hero mod" for the original PC350 that increased the bass by a decent amount. It does involve making a hole and it will void your warrant. I did this maybe 5 years ago with my PC350's and they are still going strong.

Bought a highly rated amp off Amazon, just tried it with these. Sound quality still the same, just I can go much louder now. Like listening through a tin can.

Going to return these and the amp. Really surprised at how bad these sound (unless I have a faulty set).
