anyone know how these compare to koss portapro in terms of fit?

Good price for a great set of headphones, heat added

Picked some of these up in white a while back for a fiver from Tesco. The ear pieces where they join the band are cracked on both sides. Doesn't seem to affect operation but little things like that really annoy me. These are nice and loud, but a lower end that's a bit too over emphasised for my liking.

Never used Koss Portapro. They're headphones, they just fold out and go over your head. Unless you're head is square or something they'll fit fine.

They also had the HD218 on for half price from £39.95 to £19.95 and red Jvc has160 flats for half price at £7.95 this morning at the Sainsburys in the Galleries over Washington. Heat.

I think the HD218 or 219 are much better

Yeah the build quality seemed much better on the 218s but I couldn't make my mind up which ones I wanted so I left them all the Jvc flats get favourable reviews too for a cheap set. Might have to pop back through. Decisions decisions.

Think these where £15 in Tesco

assuming they are pretty much the same as the px-100 first version they will be better than the koss
they dont pull hair
they dont look crap
they have slightly better clarity
they dont have a hard case like px100-i though
(anyone manage to get the portapros into the carry case btw?!!)

These are good headphones and their price is 10 quids cheaper than the usual. It is a good deal.

What are your reasons for thinking the HD218's are 'much better' than the PX-100 mkll's ?

I own both, and if you listen to any bass-driven music then the PX-100's absolutely stomp all over the 218's.

Just to let you know Sennheisers come with 2 year guarantees (1st year with retailer, 2nd year with Sennheisers) as long as you have the receipt. From my personal experience, they're the best company I've ever dealt with in terms of getting a replacement, faultless service.

I never managed to find any when they were going cheap in Tesco, so eventually bought them from Amazon. Still working just fine for me, though I alternate between them and the CX300 II so they not been that heavily used.

PortaPros beat the Sennheiser PX-100s (the originals) hands down, and most people reviewed the PX-100 IIs as a downgrade on the originals they replaced. PortaPros for the price are outstanding headphones, and once they break in they 1) Don't pull your hair 2) They actually don't look that bad, besides if you care about how headphones LOOK rather than SOUND go buy some bloody Dr Dre's Underpants or Skulldandys...

Oh and my PortaPros have long outlasted the cable on the old PX-100s which started to fall apart after a short while of careful use!

Totally up to you, I happen to like the PortaPro sound, to the point where I've bought much more expensive headphones (Audio-Tecnica, Grados) and surprisingly been disappointed! Not a bad price for these headphones though.

I have the portapros and px100 mk1 as well and have been happy with both.
The sennheisers dont pull on your hair which is the most obvious difference to me.

They are both open backed tho? so not the best for noisy environments.

I now use a pair of closed back headphones for passive isolation but they
are the rather large sony v6

I also got these from Tesco they r great think they were 7.95 ish
so good headphones and my fav on ear rather than sweaty over ear ones
good product not best price they have been by a long way though

I've had these (the original px100) and still have the ports pro's both are awesome vfm, for 20 pounds these both are an excellent choice.

if they dont pull your hair then not big enough difference to upgrade but imo px100 is definitely slightly better clarity.
what was the best thing about porta pros is that they stayed low price whilst the px100 didn't.. hence this being a good deal

Absolutely hated the Protapros, i like my music with some punchy bass, so if thats what your after go for the PX100-II, and the hair snagging on the Protapros just made me hate em even more. Beware though the PX100-II always breakdown within the year so be sure to keep the receipt if you do buy them. I've had 3 pairs PX100-II over a period of 2 years so it gets a bit frustrating when the left/right speakers die or the copper wires degrade just above the audio plug/jack (thingy). PS. i gym a lot with those the on so maybe that's why they break down so quickly.

2 year guarantee with john lewis.
great sounding budget cans, as long as you don't mind the leaking sound (open back headphones)
heat added!

Amazon have price matched, might be better to buy from them in case of returns, which is likely if the amazon feedback is true.

Perhaps I didn't give mine a long enough time to burn in but I ended up giving them away, not impressed. The Sony phones I was using at the time were more detailed where the Sennheisers sounded muddy/veiled/less detailed, which others might interpret as the Sony's being brighter in the treble (though not sibilant) and the Sennheisers smoother/rolled off in the high frequencies. As I say, I only gave them half a day's trial and they might have improved with a couple of days burn in,
