Xbox doesn’t do Dolby Vision on disc. I love my Xbox 1X but optimiser on this is fantastic. Bright scenes can get over blown and thus lose detail, the optimiser stops any kind of clipping. Also FPS games are better played on monitor so cba switching from tv to monitor depending on what I want to do.

Same here, big Xbox fan but got fed up with the Audio Sync issues and having to pause the disc and restart it hoping that would rectify the problem. Bought one of these last week from TPS with the free movie and lead as £299 was the lowest price I have seen it anywhere in months, with the exception of Curry’s eBay store when the 5% discount offer was on. Depends what you want but this player is exceptional and for me was worth every penny. Great service too, was delivered 2 days after I ordered it.

I gave up using my Xbox One S due to the poor software. Audio sync had issues regularly and sometimes it wouldn't even play the discs, connection issues iirc. Searching the Internet suggested that it was down to the app being poor. I went with a Sony that had the added bonus of SACD playback.

I admit I am frivolous and I use Alexa (helped by a Harmony hub) to control all of my devices - eg "Alexa Play Blu-Ray" turns on all associated devices and changes them to their correct inputs.

I can control the xbox though my TV remote so that's a moot point, if anything it means I have 1 less controller. 'arguably better picture optimisation' sounds like the differences are so tiny that 99% of viewers aren't going to notice. Considering the TV itself does a lot of the image processing a £300 dedicated box with 1 function seems extremely frivolous.

Naim Uniti Atom HDMI Streaming System Focal Aria 926 Speakers £3249 @ Sevenoaks Sound
Posted 10th MayPosted 10th May
Save a grand on these two when bought together ! Got to love a bit of British hardware, could be time for an upgrade.....

These are almost as good sound quality as my Bentley speakers in my car.

I do. I was fortunate enough to own both of these. The sound from the TAVA 777ES was incredible and the DVD player was something else entirely. Had to sell due to HDMI eventually being the new thing.

Remember the days when Sony ES range were an attainable hifi dream. Sadly the world went to mp3 and convenience. The last great item I remember Sony making was the Lissa system.

(lol) I guess you've never heard of the Sony TAN1. Some of these big name brands even make yoghurts.

I have no idea about Naim - I’d assume they stuck to tradition and honesty so “Made in England” means that and not “assembled” in England ! Got the nearly 20 yo JM Lab Electra 905 (Handmade, France) driven by a Primare (Sweden) amp and Cambridge audio Azur Dac (Cambridge? (lol) amazing used bargain folks!) and honestly, I will cry if these speakers ever die ;( I would look at Focal professional range over these floorstanders tho.. I’ve heard these in a Richer Sounds and wasn’t blown away, their monitors otoh are totally immersive, next level realism.. either way, nobody beats their patented inverse dome tweeters

Fraser's comment above mine.

when did JL confirm this

So both JL and RS - they're both pretty good though, yeah?

To confirm, JL do price match on this! Sent in a request and they're happy to honour.

I understand all your saying. I could have bought one of the LG soundbars, but I was happy with the sound from the beam, even without the addition of Atmos & DTS. It sounded better than the LG soundbars & was cheaper. Plus, the beam, incredibly, is the only soundbar that fits perfectly in between my LG b8 crescent stand. It was a big factor in my decision. I also realised that I would have to spend a lot more money to get a decent Dolby Atmos sound. So the beam will do for now, until one day Atmos will be the norm, and then I'll probably buy an Atmos soundbar.

Mine are 10 and 5 so if I tell them now they forget tomorrow and as for my mrs I say no more ha ha, enjoy your tv mate (y)

Hi Peter there’s no doubt the q90r is a great TV. Enjoy your purchase together. My children are both 12 and 14 and burn in was definitely a consideration for me. I’ve talked them through why they should never leave the TV on and explained the technology. Hopefully that should be enough.

I cancel mine and orderd a samsung q90r due to fear of burning and watching my family viewing habits and found I couldnt take the risk. I paid 80 quid more for qled but it safer for my house. Enjoy your tv

Well the TV arrived today. It’s incredible, truly incredible. Enjoy everyone who bought it :)

Having had the chance to use these buds for a while, I can say they are absolutely amazing. The sound is vibrant, spacious, and responsive across the entire range. The noise cancelling is like voodoo. I've paired them with my Pixel 2 XL, my Surface Pro 6, and my 9 year old desktop. They perform great across all three devices, and switch easily between them. I've seen a lot of people complain about pairing issues, and the ONE thing you must be aware of is to have your buds in your ears when entering them into pairing mode. The only other thing to be aware of is to update the FW immediately. This also works better if you keep the buds in during this process. I may get comply buds just to see if they make a difference.

Currys will price match the 153.99 price. I have just done it with and they honoured it.

Just had a look today but they've gone up to £130 now, but keep checking daily as the price fluctuates

I recently bought used - very good. Came as described with a slightly damaged box, but the phones and case are pristine.

Awesome sound. By far the best of any buds. Great ANC. Only problem is crap for calls but that's because of the way the mic works. If you can put up with that, then you won't be disappointed. 🔥🔥🔥

Sonos Play 5 £410 @ Sevenoaks sound

Seems a decent price.

Question is when that time comes. Hopefully even less than that :D

Hopefully Dolby atmos and home cinema integration are the big new features, because that wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. I see Gen 1 is no longer supported for hardware updates, so theres that, gen 2 will eventually go the same way... but not sure it'd be worth worrying about. Will most likely pull the trigger

ah thanks... might bite in that case. Well done getting your price... haven't decided black or white, leaning toward black for the sake of the fact black just works with everything! white is also a top neutral colour but more hit and miss! that's my opinion haha

They will, but it will go cheaper again (depending how urgent the purchase is for you) it was £381 at JL around xmas.

They should do.

I find my pioneer sc-lx 57 good as it is as a surround amp can't deliver what my arcam A19 can stereo.

I was thinking of getting a new NAD all in one system as it just seems like the next step forward for me.

Sounds expensive and complicated!

Used to, had Marantz and Kenwood Amps but with Home entertainment becoming bigger made sense to use an AV receiver instead.

Agree about Denon receiver but Tannoy speakers with tulip wave guide ans dual concentric drivers would beat the pants of b and w.

Cheaper on Amazon: £155

Recently grabbed some of these from Very with a deal I had, first 'true wireless' earphones and these really are great. Sound quality is fantastic for such small drivers!

Great headphones and fit has been great for me, as with any in ear there is a personal sway on this. Sound quality is brilliant and noise cancelling better than I'd expected. I nearly didn't buy them because of some of the haters on here but based decision on majority owners and trade reviewers

Great headphones. Lacking in some higher quality codecs but that doesnt affect me much. For what they are they are very good.

Sonos Play 5 - £419 @ Sevenoaks Sound

This is my first ever post so go easy please. Best price I have found in the UK at the moment for the brilliant Sonos Play 5. Free delivery to UK addresses

I just had mine delivered an hour ago, set it up to replace one of my Play:1's. Anyone who says it is only a marginal improvement over the Play:1 should probably go get their ears checked as a they are probably a candidate for a hearing aid!

Legend find. Purchased 2.

I agree with this. I have original play ones, updated Alexa Sonos ones, play 3, gen 2 play 5’s like this model. These 5’s are outstanding in pairs! Really really impressive

!!!! This is a great price. But I don't need one! Where am I going to put it???

I've got a couple of the new 1's, had a gen 1 play 3 and both a gen 1 and gen 2 play 5. I would say then gen 2 play 5 is one of the best speakers I've heard for all around home sound. Punchy bass and a great sound. The gen 2 was a good upgrade from the gen 1, sound is crisper and seems more balanced. If I was going to choose a gen 2 play 5 is better than stereo play 1's. Great purchase and this wont disappoint if you get one :)

I've purchased the voucher and in preparation I need to think of a good place for ear impressions. I've heard places like Aid2Hearing are good for it but it's quite far from me and a hassle to get to. Do you know if high street audiologists are good for the job? I'm aware specsavers offer this service but I'm not sure if they're suitable. Due to the cost my gut instinct is to just go to Aid2Hearing for the ear impressions, however I would much rather go to my local Specsavers of course if high street audiologists are more than sufficient.

Nice one! Thanks for letting me know. Won't the final price of the CE6P be £580 though? Paying £100 for the voucher gives you £200 credit (£100 off), so £600-200=£400 as they quoted is the price at the end ex. VAT so £480 inc. VAT but I've paid £100 for the voucher so £580 total?

Just thought I'd let you know that Cosmic have a promotion if you're interested! It's an odd preorder-ish system to get people to commit to buying ahead of them restarting production, but the CE6P comes to £480 if bought this way and the CE4P comes to £300.

Great deal, I'd just like to add that seller offers imho the best CS out there. If you don't want to keep these speakers, contact Sevenoaks and they'll collect them from your address. Fab! (First month = cooling off period)

wishing everyone the very best in difficult times ... now back to the headphones. The hanging controls look a bit fugly. My backbeat fit's are on the way out (fizzing noise blurring the bass) and they're quite expensive to replace ... but they have controls integrated into the earpiece which i like (they don't like being dropped though). Do you get used to the control or is the whole thing so light you don't even notice it ? Primary use for podcasts while cycling (assuming we ever get back to normal).

LG OLED55B9PLA £999 @ Sevenoaks sound - In Store Collection - Kingston Branch
Sevenoaks Sound and Vision are offering brand new unopened box clearance sale for collection from their Kingston branch.

I read that too From what I read online the new method isn't working out as well as hoped. Can't find the exact article but this mentions about scaling back production

There are some efficiencies with printing the panels soon which should help bring the price down this year. Prices are only going to fall once they figure out how to make it more cheaply, so prices won’t stay like this. It’s just like LED lcds years a go costing over 1k but now cost £200.

Indeed. The B8 have been in clearance for a year so stock won't last.

Yes, I’ve noticed that it doesn’t work like this (continual price drops) over the past 5 years anyway. They seem to reach a low point of about £1000 and then stay there until discontinued

It's gen 1 vs gen 2 processor. Only C9 E9 W9 E9 have the gen 2 processor. Gen3 is on CX and RX at ces 2020. Gen2 is faster so can handle 120hz 4k, although lg reckon the gen 1 should work according to a recent post on their forums but no proof has been provided after they previously said it wouldn't work. So if you want to use it with next gen consoles I would get a c9
