Xbox doesn’t do Dolby Vision on disc. I love my Xbox 1X but optimiser on this is fantastic. Bright scenes can get over blown and thus lose detail, the optimiser stops any kind of clipping. Also FPS games are better played on monitor so cba switching from tv to monitor depending on what I want to do.
Same here, big Xbox fan but got fed up with the Audio Sync issues and having to pause the disc and restart it hoping that would rectify the problem. Bought one of these last week from TPS with the free movie and lead as £299 was the lowest price I have seen it anywhere in months, with the exception of Curry’s eBay store when the 5% discount offer was on. Depends what you want but this player is exceptional and for me was worth every penny. Great service too, was delivered 2 days after I ordered it.
I gave up using my Xbox One S due to the poor software. Audio sync had issues regularly and sometimes it wouldn't even play the discs, connection issues iirc. Searching the Internet suggested that it was down to the app being poor. I went with a Sony that had the added bonus of SACD playback.
I admit I am frivolous and I use Alexa (helped by a Harmony hub) to control all of my devices - eg "Alexa Play Blu-Ray" turns on all associated devices and changes them to their correct inputs.
I can control the xbox though my TV remote so that's a moot point, if anything it means I have 1 less controller. 'arguably better picture optimisation' sounds like the differences are so tiny that 99% of viewers aren't going to notice. Considering the TV itself does a lot of the image processing a £300 dedicated box with 1 function seems extremely frivolous.
