Pro-ject Prmary 'E' Turntable £149 @ Seven Oaks

Useful to know as the retailer wants £69 for the separate preamp. So better to go for the USB model Then?

It is well built and I don't think you will find better at this price point Seany2687. The Pro-Ject Primary Phono USB (around £60 more) also includes a pre-amp with USB output so you can connect to a line-level input on your hifi system or a PC/Mac. The turntable in this post does not include a preamp so you would need to connect it either to an external RIAA pre-amp or an amplifier with a specific phono input.

There are people in here that know way more than me about turntables. But from my perspective at a price of £100-£150 there are many so called 'branded' Turntables such as Sony denon lenco pioneer marantz that are rebranded Chinese units. This makes me feel a little mistrust. They are obviously ok otherwise they would not sell so many and there are good reviews . The lenco l-85 for example (not the l85) is well regarded at a price point of £100 or so and can be bought refurbished for £50 . There are some good reviews of the audio technica lp60usb which go on to challenge some of the points raised by others such as high cartridge weight. See what hifi review and youtube. From what I have read almost everywhere though , rega and project make turntables that have reviews which are higher than these brands. Because of their audio quality. But at this price they lack the features such asbuilt in preamp, usb record and automatic tonearm. You have to make a decision. The audio technica lp3 seems to balance it all and is £149. But for the same price you get a project with less features. What we need as consumers is sample audio and you can see this on YouTube where one reviewer has ripped a song on an old technics turntable and a AT LP60. They're not much different to be honest!

So, I am looking for an entry level turntable but not interested in the plastic builds knocking around in the same price range or lower. Will this fit the bill? I was considering the project primary phono before seeing this.

No you didn't, you don't know what you are talking about. Bigsky will be along shortly to explain why with some facts. ;) :/

Bowers & Wilkins 683 S2 Speakers at Sevenoaks Sound and Vision for £799
Found 4th JulFound 4th Jul
Save £350.00 on the award winning Bowers & Wilkins 683 S2 Speakers . Save on other 600 series speakers too

Most audiophiles don't use a subwoofer for listening to music, so they rely on a Speaker that can go low without adding a sub.

You wouldn't want to use them below 120hz anyway. You would use a proper subwoofer for that.

The apple speakers CAN be played at full volume and still hear your every word.

It won’t be ass immersive and these big lads always need to be next to the wall. With HomePod and specially two of them, you can put them anywhere and get great sounds, almost as great as these two big lads. HomePods cost less, take less space and can actually connect effortlessly.

Apple is the only company that’s actually pro consumer privacy and stood up to the us government when everyone else bent over and took it like a champ! Siri is the most useless assistance because of their pro stance on privacy and not harvesting user data! I mean you can hate on Apple for being Apple but I have to call you stupid when you say something stupid.

Have a look on gumtree, a bloke is selling some for £200 but won’t get them until Tuesday. Message him and ask if he will pay delivery just add £10 on. I would have bought them but I had already bid on ones I won on.

Nice, I've been checking myself hoping to get my dad a pair cheap but prices have held quite well. Still cheaper than they have been but I hoped for cheaper.

Just got some bose for £220 delivered. Thanks for the heads up. Doubt they will drop to £150 most are selling £220-260

I'm loving the bose so I'll be keeping mine I'm afraid. The phone is superb, best I've had yet. I think with regards software it depends what you are used to, I personally found apple far too restricted with what you can do and found the user interface slow and clunky, Android is more open for developers to play around with toys. But we're all different so I will always respect others opinions. One of the big selling points of the Bose is google assistant which it sounds like would be no good to you.

HDMI cable there for £395. Bargain!

Highly inflated RRPs to make the 'discount' look better. Take this amp: RRP @ Richer Sounds says £499. RRP @ SevenOaks says £549...which is why Richer Sounds are only charging £50 extra for a BRAND NEW amp compared to this end of lease item which will inevitably die out of warranty sooner rather than later.

Decent hifi kit (Naim, Linn etc) seems to be going up around 10% every year (manufacturer, not due to SSAV). Can't see how this is sustainable!

Most of them are ex-display or ex-demo so not mint condition

I agree with Dreamaker - this is quite a high price for an ex demo TV that has had thousands of hours use. I’m hoping for some big price drops on this model when the 2018 range arrive in the shops, as long as they don’t sell out first. John Lewis told me they have plenty in stock across the country. I suspect LG have a much bigger profit margin on this model than the B7/E7 which are similar but don’t have the forward facing speakers in the sound bar (or the glass display) - this explains their £500/£800 cashback offer which is only available on the OLED55E7 and OLED65E7.

Is Sevenoaks on the list for the cashback offer ? Im tempted

It is a bit of a gamble getting an ex display Oled because you may be getting a screen with burn in and or banding. Also if you identified a fault would the retailer provide another ex display tv or a new one? I would rather go for an unused tv at this price point. Still a great tv if you can get a good one at this price.

Richer sounds had an display with the cash back advertised so I emailed LG about a ex display model last month they said the cash back has to be used on new tv no refurbishments and no ex display. Assume this is still the case

Touche. I see only battery deals for Maplin around here but I guess I don't pay much attention. Anyway. Richer Sounds do have things others don't offer. Maplin apparently don't, otherwise they'd be fine. See you back here in 6 years, if HUKD still exists!

I took Bose as they are more comfortable having compared them, but yes the Sony do have slightly better noise cancelling and quality sound

Been reading and watching so many reviews on this TV and it's meant to be brilliant. It's one of the only LED TVs on the market that achieves close to OLED for deep blacks. No other LEDs come close. Heat added

...Android as an OS is not fit for purpose of controlling TV as an user friendly "interface" so to speak, or plainly is a pain in a butt in that department (mad)

How comes? I've been keeping an eye out for the Bravias as they are one of a few that offer true Android TV. Of course there are many other manufacturers offering smart TV but my thinking before getting Android TV was that it would always be kept up to date, unlike say, LG?

I've been looking for a new TV for a while, and yes it's a mission alright! Nothing out there is perfect, just when you think you've found something then you discover some flaw and you start over again. The fluctuations in price also don't help, it's clear that retailers have marked up tvs post Xmas, that's when the better deals were around.

well, this post is in danger of becoming the most boring diary ever but i need to update it. They've tanked. Less than 9 hours use and i've noticed a fault. There now packaged up and ready to go back. I wont expire the post as the offer hasn't expired but as great as they sounded i cant honestly endorse them as a good buy after that!

fwiw mine arrived earlier today. Great sound, open back is a little different to what i'm used too but its cool. The headband though! (or rather lack of one) already sourcing a 3rd party one. Build quality is about what i thought it would be, definitely some overhype re these but i knew that before buying and i'm still glad i did. Just 1 day in though so early day never mind early days. The hard case is pretty decent.

just re Grado at cex i noticed they have some grade A Grado GS1000e headphones for £520 which is about 50% what they cost new. js

cracking deal - nice

cex have a lot of grado headphones dont they! They do have these sr80e but they are actually A grade for £50 which is even better! They have them listed twice but afaik the sr80e are from the prestige series sp its a duplicate item. Headphones are one thing i would never buy used though.

Yeah, for lg nano cell is 21s in 4k and 1080p 👌

The Sony in this post is back lit. The only thing that’s slightly off putting about this Sony is the input lag which is (in gaming mode) 25s in 4K and 43s for 1080p. Full review here

There you go, even better. I'm a massive Sony fan but this LG is much better. I know Sony has android in it but you can get an nvidia shield for 200 and even then it's way much cheaper. Plus it uses less power than Sony,200w instead of 300w like Sony. Yes it's Edge lit, the only full array lit for 75 inch is the Sony Zd series but that's over 5000 pounds.

Amazon £2199.99 one In stock

Thanks, hadn’t come across this. Good alternative but edge lit. But on the plus side it’s great for gaming (nano cell technology)
