Probably being really stupid, but lets take the £5 offer to heathrow airport for example. You pay £5 via Groupon - once you pay does that give you a trip to Heathrow from any London location for £5? And what do you do with the Groupon vouchers to book this on Splitcab?

Theres not much information of the process on Groupon
Fantastic and self explanatory. Booked, thanks!!!
This really is hot! Great idea and super deal if you are traveling to Heathrow.
A little bit of a warning:

Only one luggage per person Thats a bit issue for me
What about drop off fees at the airport, I'm assuming you get charged extra for these?
Good for the environment too, I hear nothing but good things about stuff that helps the environment...
Surely this gives away a little too much info to your fellow ridees, i.e. "I'm going to be away for a while, please help yourself to the cheap (bought via HUKD) stuff in my flat"? Though I suppose you're telling the cabbie too...

Thanks, I was thinking more Stansted Airport. It's £3.50 for a drop off, I cant see the cab firm covering that unless they have some sort of agreement with the airports.

Awkward has become the norm the world over where total strangers share minicabs etc without batting an eyelid or even raising their noses out of a newspaper. 8 strangers seated in a Easybus minicab? 60 seater National express bus? Awkward using the 500 seater tube? Not so awkward attempting to minimise the accepted 10% tip to the dedicated cabbie (which may well exceed the total for the shared ride)

I'm guessing you've never used UberPOOL before then.

Do you also fly in a private jet so as to avoid the "awkwardness" of sharing a plane with "strangers"?

Never used Uber and never heard of Uberpool? Some kind of taxi service to the swimming baths??

The last shared taxi I got from the airport, the guy next to me had to DEMAND the taxi driver to stop to pee otherwise he'd wet himself. Not even joking. Taxi driver and I were p*ssing ourselves with laughter.

Btw, voted hot. You never know who you might be sat next to.

You'll be dropped off at the free drop off zone and that is mid stay car park at Stansted. About 10min on the bus from the airport

Oh yes, good shout - I forgot about that. I will make it clear to the driver too just in case. I wonder what the arrangement is with pick-up - probably need to make it clear when booking it.

EDIT - just seen this on their site: "When you exit arrivals please meet your driver at the arrivals barrier in your arrival terminal. Your driver will be waiting with a name board 45 minutes after your flight lands and will assist you to your vehicle."

Bought this deal from Groupon a couple of days before I needed it. I wanted to use it to get myself & my dad home from a flight arriving at Heathrow at 5.30am, so I thought great. As we live in London, that time of the morning it would take us about 30 minutes to get home. After downloading the app I tried to book the cab, but it kept saying that the destination was out of their boundaries, (we live about 16 miles away).

Eventually I called the contact number on the app to find out about their "boundaries" only to be met with less that average customer service & told that if I wanted to know anything I should go back to the app along with being told that they don't take any bookings over the phone. As far as I could see, there is no boundary map on the app.

In the end, I went back to Groupon to get a refund. What a waste of time.
