I'd keep an eye out for the older 2 battery model with 44 minute run time, has been around the £200 mark over the past few months.
Are shark as good as Dyson ?
I have this but got it for less than £200 on amazon prime day. It’s brilliant and one of the models with Hepa

Yes I'd hold off till Black Friday as amazon usually run a few shark deals and their is a chance they could repawt the £199 deal on this model again.

My son and his girlfriend bought one when they moved into their new home, but sent it back after a couple of days because it didn't pick up dog hair. They bought the Dyson v7 animal instead and say its far superior.

Each to their own had no problems with this latest model, never had any issues vacuuming up the hay or hair left by my rabbits. The shark also comes with a 5 year warranty compared to 2 years from Dyson.

Happy for you. Personally, I'd rather have a machine that does the job with a 2 year warranty, than one that doesn't with 5. On our 3rd mains Dyson, had our current one for 8 years with no issues so not concerned about warranty claims.

Last two Dyson's we've had 6 warranty call outs from their engineers each time taking two weeks from reporting fault to getting someone out. And then their engineers don't always have the parts so takes another 2 weeks to sort out. By comparison I ring shark up on Monday they send the needed part usually by Wednesday or if the part is unavailable a machine swap the next day. So yeh I'd rather have a machine that does it's job and if it goes faulty I'm back up and running in 3 days instead of 2 weeks like you are with Dyson.

He's a degree qualified engineer, think he can handle a vacuum cleaner. Suggest your kids look to someone else for their manners.
