I have owned 2 Dysons, a V6 and V7. Both now lying around doing nothing because either parts have broken or the battery lasts no more than 15 mins on normal power, circa 6-7 on higher power. I have come to the realisation that they are nothing more than fashion accessories. Cordless can never beat corded in my opinion. Will be watching at 9pm to see how this performs. Reviews from various sources are very favourable.

I have this and it’s amazing in my opinion. It’s definitely worth the price! I bought mine off QVC a few months ago. Does a much better job than my Dyson did.

The V6 only came with a 20min standard, 6 minute full power battery as new. So if you are getting 6mins still then it sounds like your battery is fine. When the battery is on the way out you'd be lucky to get a minute on full power.
Looks like it's sold out.
Appears to be coming in and out of availability. Managed to get one but now showing out if stock again.
Mmmm....decisions, decisions...

It's not just the battery. The brush head and bin are also broken. Will never buy a Dyson again. Like I said before, fashion accessories to impress your guests.
Stupid website. If I added £5 code, it took off easy pay option. Left off code and selected easy pay and when orders confirmed they’ve taken the full amount. I’ve emailed QVC asking them to put me on the plan or cancel order. Don’t advertise this option if you aren’t going to honour it and put the order through as a whole payment. And yes going in and out of stock.

you cannot use a voucher & easy pays it says that in the T&C's & is common knowledge on QVC Deals & normally the order confirmation will show full but they most likely will only take the easy pays if its like normal so first payment + post & then the other 2 payments 30 days apart
they got a tiny amount of them on advanced orders for week commencing the 15/06/20 but just have the money ready just in case as it maybe shipped early

I too had a similar problem with the easy pays. Didn't realise I couldn't do both the promo code and easy pays together. Only realised this after I spoke to them on the phone just now. Not too fussed to be honest as I'd rather have the item than have to wait a month for it to be available again at this price with easy pay. For those who don't use QVC, it isn't obvious that both can't be used together.
I've gone for the new WHALE Turbo dusting flea buster X500TB and upgrade from the X455GN.

So far so good. I was unsure to go for the above or the SWORDFISH W855B but the SWORDFISH didn't have a TURBO FAST SWITCH that I find is essential when getting in cracks.

Cheers for that, order has gone through with easy pay so it is all ok. I don’t shop with QVC so didn’t know about the code and easy pay not being compatible. If it’s a new customer code it stands to reason a new customer wouldn’t know you can’t use a promo code with easy pay so would be helpful to put small print inside the box where they are advertising the code that the code can’t be used with easy pay.

You don't think people are really that vain? Why else spend £500 on a vacuum cleaner?!

The V6 was given to me, the V7 I got as a refurb. Both started off fine but then ended up losing suction, parts breaking, taking ages to charge and then losing power after getting through 2 bedrooms. Never again, much like when I left the Apple flock after the 4S.

Anyway, super excited about my Shark. I might have to show the neighbours my new white good over the garden fence

So both the Dyson's were second hand when u got them
Shouldn't have to fully strip down and replace bits after a year or 2 on something that costs as much as Dysons do. If I'd paid £500 on something which only has the job of picking up dirt, I'd expect it to last. Just glad I didn't.

It's not just a Dyson thing, many products aren't what they used to be. Quality and reliability seem to be second to how shiny they look. Shame really, as the world is full of products that will end up in a tip somewhere way before they should. The planet is struggling under the weight of so much rubbish.

I'll happily slate the Shark as well if it doesn't live up to my expectations. Just saying in my experience, I won't be buying another Dyson, although my wife mentioned she wanted the Dyson hair curler thing the other day

I've had experience with both Dyson and Shark products as well as their warranty repairs, both have pro's and con's. When it comes to in-warranty faults I've always found shark better as they usually diagnosis the problem on the phone and send a new part e.g. floor head, pipe or motorbase to your house within 2-3 days. Dyson on the other hand use their own team of repair technicians and every time I've reported a problem it's taken 2-3 weeks to get an engineer to the house and then you just hope the person from the helpline ordered the correct parts for the repair visit otherwise it's another week waiting for correct part to be fitted by the engineer. Things change a little though once your out of warranty repairs become very expensive with shark, they don't offer any spare individual components so if the fault is for example the power cable you can't just replace the power cable you have to buy a whole new motor-base for £79, same if just one little thing needs replacing in the floor head you will need to buy a complete new one for £69. Dyson is a bit better for out of warranty as spare parts are usually available for every component of the machine and i've replaced power cable on old one I've had before not difficult to do and only about £7 for used cable from ebay much cheaper than having to buy a complete motorbase for the shark.

Thank you for the information. Good to hear experiences from someone who has owned models from both brands. I understand the Shark comes with a 5 year warranty so hopefully that will offer peace of mind. Not sure on the T&C's though. The Shark will have to go some to be as bad as the Dysons were though. Fingers crossed!

Shark warranty is 5 years, Dyson lucky to get 2....Shark more reliable too.

Shark are 5 years on upright and cordless (batteries are 2 years). Dyson are 5 years on uprights and 2 years on cordless. You must make sure with shark that you register your machine within 30 days or you will only get a 1 year warranty.
