OK so it's a UMC rebadged as a Sharp, but it seems to be a fair bit of telly for the price. It's also got 3xHDMI, 2xUSB, plays various media formats.

Yes it's only HD Ready, but what do you expect for the money. Was considering this for my 12 year old. She's only interested in a bigger screen than her 19inch 4:3. For the money unless something else comes up in the sales this week that's probably what she'll be getting.

out of stock!

Currys have a 32" for 99.99

The Currys one doesn't have Freeview HD. Although for the price I don't expect there would be a lot of difference in performance. Sharp has slightly better connectivity. But the Sharp is made by UMC which looks like they also make Alba, Blaupunkt, Bush, e-motion, Eternity, JMB, Technika and UMC Televisions. Most of the reviews I've seen on the like of Technika, the Sharps and Blaupunkt are quite positive. So definitely a budget brand. Anyway my quest for a tv is over. Bought a LG 28MT48S Smart 28" LED TV for £140.

The LG 28MT48S Smart 28" LED TV was an Amazon lightning deal yesterday for £139.99 instead of £189.99. It may come up again.

Thanks thetarget. I had messaged Pies1976 with the info. I'm sure that the 28inch version of the LG without the smart features was also available earlier in the Black Friday run up for £118.00 although it wasn't for long. I saw it on the Amazon site and it had been listed on What Hifi's list of deals as well.

LG 28inch with webos is now on again at Amazon for £139.99, or the 28inch without the smart features is available for £118.99. Also other variants such as 24 inch etc are available. Seperate post on hotukdeals has been submitted for these.

That was nice of you to email OP.

The non smart version has less connections....I think the deal breaker for me with that version was no headphone socket.

I bought one of the LG 28MT48S in the lightning deal. Decided to go for the 5yr warranty. Although it ended up making it a similar to price to Richer Sounds. Amazon cover has accidental damage coverage. It is strange these are not full hd not that it matters due to the size. My parents have a LG 22" IPS TV (about 3 or 4 years old) and that has lots of connections and is full hd but with a freeview tuner in it. Their one broke after a couple of years but was from Richer Sounds with an extended warranty. They fixed it and it has been working fine again (so far).

I thought this size of TV will be good to play original Xbox and Wii on. Also whilst I ponder on what big sized TV to get and then put this one in a bedroom. There seems to be so many reports of banding, pixelation and faux HDR/4K..RGBW...motion lag etc on large TVs. I think a large 1080p will do but even those seem confusing as to what to go for. A bit annoying some don't have scart sockets on either when I still have some scart based equipment.

Big Kudos to rrb68! Thanks for giving me the heads up that the LG Smart 28" was back on offer at Amazon!

Seems yo be OOS which is a shame as 32" deals today have been [email protected]

Only other 32inch that was getting heat was the Seiki from Currys at £99. However that's no longer listed at £99.00, its now for sale at £119.99. Tesco Direct do have a Blaupunkt for £129.00 for the 32inch. On checking the UMC UK website it appears they provide support for both the Sharp (32inch for £119.00 that was listed on Tesco Direct) and Blaupunkt, so maybe it's a similar panel. Connectivity seems to be similar although it's £10 more than the Sharp was.
