Personally I’d pay £30 more and go with Hisense, my Mum has a Sharp and the picture is awful. It’s probably ok for a spare bedroom etc.
Out of stock
Any thoughts on the 40inch jvc fire?

Is 40” your limit?
Yeah. It's for my bedroom. Nothing bigger fits. 39 or 40

Shame, a decent 43” is usually cheaper than 40”, if you’re budget is under £300 I’m sure the JVC would be ok but I’d be tempted to spend a bit more and try something like a Panasonic

The GUI is dire,

Yep, but if it’s a toss up between display quality and User Interface, Id go for display quality. UI is entirely subjective, personally I hate the UI on the Fire Stick/TV

Yup, the Hisense is also 4K and comes with a 2y manufacturer warranty. You certainly can tell the difference between a 1080p and a 4K picture at normal viewing distances.

Even if it wasn’t 4K I think the Hisense would still be a better display.

I got the Sharp 4k UHD 40in £199 from Tesco on black Friday. The picture quality is really good. Not regretting returning the Hisense 40in to Argos.

May just be luck of the draw then, the Sharp I’ve viewed is absolutely awful. If it’s as good quality as you say it’s potentially a good buy
I got the harman karden model for an extra 50 only downside is no amazon prime tv app available
