^ 4K won't be affordable for a while yet, it's like the people who babble on about how the Playstation 4 will run games at that resolution. PC can run games 1080P 60+fps smoothly on most games if you have a good setup but even those would run awful at 4K res.

As for tv, most channels still broadcast in 720p i believe, i still think it will be at least a few years before 4K starts off.
4K T.V Will cost £40K at that size(true no jest) they produced on 32" awhile back think that was about 30K
Far too small, I'm waiting for the 4D 90"

That's not exactly true. There is a bunch of PC gamers who play their games on Eyefinity/Nvidia Surround setups that range from 6.2M pixels to as much as 12.8M pixels and beyond (a "standard" 4K resolution is 3840x2160, or 8.3M pixels for comparison). They're a vast minority of gamers, but on the rise, since quality monitors are becoming more affordable and many mainstream graphics cards can now handle multiple monitors.

Most powerful gaming PCs would have no trouble running games at that resolution while using the console graphics settings and maintaining console framerates (~30 fps average with Vsync).

It's very unlikely that PS4 will natively support games at anything higher than Full HD resolution. Especially if they're going to expand on the 3D market.

Very little (if any) broadcast TV is 720p, it's almost all 1080i, which means no scaling on a 1080 panel and simple scaling on a 4K panel.

actually it looks like it'll be around $25,000 at the moment, which works out at around £15,500- for a tv that's 84"! But yes I agree 4K is at least 5-10 years away for ordinary consumers

Projector is much better for this size up.

Unless you think having a massive black slab completely dominating your living room is cool.

How? By spending at least 5 times less than for 4k TV?
Projectors are nice but the sound sucks not good in day light well some it does not look nice unless you have a good place to hide the xbox or freeview box (hid away) new bulbs blow although I know some televisions do not last. I would prefer a tv tbh lol
Like many other people in this thread I too have one of these. I keep it in the garage (next to the Bentley) as a spare in case my Imax breaks down.

Agreed silly price for a TV and most are past the 50" mark as the screens a pain in the backside to import. Stick to projectors if you want above 50" and standard for below. You can even get 3D projectors now for around half this price that go upto something like 200"

it's true that some people play on multiple monitors, but i prefer a high framerate (over 60 as often as possible) over a higher resolution. This is why i recently got a 120hz 27" monitor, even though it's 1080P the 120hz makes a big difference in smoothness. New games can struggle at 1080P nevermind higher, i remember in late 04 when i had a 6800 ultra card and Doom 3 & Half Life 2 had their moments of dropping to 20FPS in intense sections, and that was 1024x768 or something.

I wouldn't stand 30FPS, then with 2+ monitors you need at least a dual gpu and it introduces microstuttering. Too many problems, i'd rather have speed and good quality vs higher quality with slowdown.
