What nonsense. It's a 48" TV, at that size to even be able to see the difference 4K brings you you have to sit within 6' of the screen! Where are you hoping to hang it, the toilet?!

4K is a complete waste of money for most real life uses:

Just another sucker buying into the hype of what the TV manufacturers pour down your throat. What IS money down the drain is the extra you spent on 4K unless you bought something massive, and sit near it!

Great deal OP, nice find. Make the most of 1080 bargains, they are more than enough for most normal TV viewing.

Sam of London types that on any TV that isn't 4k, Sam cannot see that most people will not have 4k content within the lifespan of the TV, hence the reason Sam is considered a troll by a lot of hukd members.

Given the lack of worthwhile content, and this tv being half the price of even a budget 4K of the same size, this tv would be perfect for most home users who don’t play games or want to spend £200 on a 4K player.
The bezel seems classic 10 years ago. Still, Dan above has a point. BUT I bought a Bauhn telly from Aldi just over a year ago for £200 and it's awful

I'd say it would be good for gaming,I have a 9 year old Samsung in the spare room for gaming and movies, stick a bluray and PS4 games through it and it's fine....good price for a TV that size....good range of sockets as well.

I would suspect your Samsung will be a lot better than this for gaming. I have a couple of year old, same manufacturer (not branded sharp tho) TV and the LCD response time can be measured in minutes*

I don't think Sharp make TVs any more - presume this is one of those Turkish things with their name slapped on it?

Indeed.
Reason was my son got a cheapie from Aldi and it was great BEFORE the big "Bauhn" - ironically, I got a 32" Baunhn for the spare bedroom and it's been great with built in DVD and usb's

As long as Sky charge extra for HD Pack most of us won't even utilise our Full HD TVs to the Max - Me included

And don’t forget to add another £1000 a year for Sky if like me your available broadband is not fast enough to stream 4K. 10 years ago I spent £1500 on a 48” smart 3D HD Samsung after being told that 3D was the future and new channels, apart from Sky, were launching soon. It’s now in the dining room as a second set. Once 4K is widely available and the norm there will be 8K teles in the shops.

Even 1080p looks better on 4k TV due upscaling. 4k comes HDMI 2.0 , upscaling and hdcp 2.2 so more bandwidth for better picture.

I buy most items from them , never a problem . The Germans are much more advanced in technology . And almost all electronic items are made in China. Brand names and brand loyalty have a added cost involved. I rather have more warranty for peace of mind . If something does not work as expected , Aldi / Lidl are happy to return. That is why they are growing so fast . People vote for them with their feet . Only snobs who visit Waitrose and pay double for same items hate them .

I buy small electricals from Aldi. Your power tools, blenders etc. Good quality and 3 year no fuss warranty. When it comes to smaller TVs it has to look good which you don’t normally get from Aldi. Big TVs I go with user/journo reviews and they don’t tend to review TVs from Aldi. I do own a Hisense TV for our main TV though, and that falls into the Aldi mould.
