It seems Sherlock above finally worked out its 4k now

Sorry, forgot to mention it was the Langley Mill store.
The 'smart' capabilities are about as smart as Joey Deacon.

Ok, so 4k is 4096 X 2160 and UHD is 3840 X 2160 but UHD is the 16:9 ratio which TV sets are.

Most people treat 4k and UHD the same

Huh? Hey, BIG BROTHER
What do you want with 2 TVs and then purchasing more during the Black Friday Sales ?
Edited by: "starbidder" 7th Jun 2018
Picked last one up in the Lower Earley branch £179
Been playing with it for the last few hours.

Pros:
- Miracast (cast your android device screen to the TV via WiFi) works pretty well
- plays video/audio off my Plex server and USB, also it can take a minute or more to get going on occasion
- web browser supports both keyboard and mouse, also the on-screen keyboard constantly gets in the way (tested it with my Logitech K400 Plus)
- YouTube and BBC iPlayer work great, no keyboard/mouse support so

Cons:
- slow channel switching (3+ seconds)
- colours are rather muted when compared to the £349 Samsung UHD TV I looked at previously (use the Picture button on the remote control to cycle through the various colour modes/display profiles)
- can only record the program you are currently viewing (single Freeview HD tuner!)
- scheduled recording of live TV interrupted the playback of video from my Plex server

I am pleasantly surprised by the TV, but you can tell where Sharp/UMC cut costs.

I paid £229.00 on last Saturday and thought it was a good deal, but the price is further reduced to £179.00.

When you hit the cast icon, what name shows up please?
It's Sharp something !
4K, Ultra HD, 4K Ultra HD – call it what you want, the 'four times HD' TV technology is better
So this is 4K (under the name Ultra HD)
Just bout one, its a real bargain.
Brilliant picture and Smart Apps
Officially, 4K resolution is 4096 x 2160 pixels. However, in order to shoehorn this higher resolution video on to a normal 16:9 picture format, it has been altered to 3840 x 2160 – still four times the total number of pixels found on a Full HD 1080p screen (1920 x 1080).

‘HDR’ stands for High Dynamic Range, and is currently the Big Thing in the TV world. The term originates in photography, and refers to a technique that heightens a picture’s dynamic range – the contrast between the brightest whites and the darkest blacks. The theory is that the higher the dynamic range, the closer a picture gets to real life. HDR for televisions is basically the same idea.
