Saw this last night in Stevenage store, still £120 on Asda website.
Website claims it is multi-region as well!

These were 49.99 + VAT in Makro a few weeks ago, I bought one. Don't trust the Asda website listing by the way, it states it has DivX playback too, which it doesn't.

I have yet to see a multi region firmware for DVD playback on this unit. Granted it has great pluses, a great build quality and a great picture quality in Blu Ray mode, but is limited elsewhere, poor upscaling of standard DVD, no DivX support and is only a Profile 1.1 player.

If like me you are not bothered about Profile 2.0 BD Live support and just want a Blu Ray Player to just play Blu Rays then the price I paid at Makro is fine, however at 95 quid plus I think personally you would be better saving your money for something that offers more bells and whistles than this

Good price, but it should be noted that this is Profile 1.1, and without an ethernet port it won;t be getting updated to Profile 2.0 any time soon. But for people who are not interested in the online features it should do the job

EDIT: Doh - beaten to it - serves me right for not updating this window before posting

Alot of players that are 1.1 will not play the new films and alot of rental films.

They can bring a firmaware update out, people with blu ray players that have a ethernet port still do it by cd aswell

Please can you tell me which films so that I can try them out with my Sharp with the latest firmware, and what is the differences between retail and rental films that make "a lot" of players that are profile 1.1 not play the Blu Ray discs? Please explain more, your post is somewhat vague to say the least

Regardless of firmware being updatable via CD, such as with the BD-HP21H (can also upgrade via the USB port as well) it would be pointless of Sharp to release a firmware to make the BD-HP21H 2.0 compliant as without the Ethernet port the BD Live facilities available on Profile 2.0 players would be absolutely redundant without being able to connect to the internet!

i got one of these a couple of months back. it would not play the film 'Australia' till i updated the firmware.
