EDIT: Now at £299 instore and online.

Use code 'TDX-7PKF' for this price (today is last day for code).

I am wondering if this is a good deal or not? Was tempted by the £299 Samsung in ASDA and now £349 in John Lewis. With the USB PVR, it seems like a cool feature and I could easily plug in my portable HDD.

Could I have people's opinions if they have this TV or could link to reviews? Cheers.

Genuine Sharp TVs start with LE6ХХ and above ... LE7ХХ ... LE8ХХ.

This is a bogus Sharp. Designed & made in Turkey by Vestel. The TV behind the Sharp badge is essentially the same as in the 'Supermarket' TVs made by Vestel.

Which? have tested a number of these TVs, & they score 30 something to 40 something per cent. Cheap but inferior.

Just what i need for my rental property.

When you say bogus, are you saying that someone is producing TVs pretending to be Sharp, and they are not aware of it?

seems a great price to me

No Toshiba, Hitachi and Sharp all sell there names or rebadge cheaper tvs although some are "real" in the sense that they are manufactured by the respective brand

This is £299 instore and it looks really nice. Reviews say that it has a bad design if you want to wall mount as the HDMI and Scart sockets are blocked by the mount. However if it isn't going to be wall mounted then it's fine. Might have to order one tonight.

Not worth it only had a price drop because it's not selling. Think what an extra £50 would get you if you did a little research.

Come on folks.
Do your homework.
Is this a genuine quality Japanese product?
Or a rebadged Turkey from Turkey?

just wonder who know this one compares to samsung LE40D503 £299 in ASDA before, which one is better? I can't find contrast ratio of samsung one.

Thanks for the info

Better to look for a deal like the £299 Samsung LE40D503 at Asda. I believe it contains the same Panel & Processor as the D550... Which? Score 57%... significantly better than the average Sharp.

you should get your landlord to supply one for you

I recently bought a Sainsbury's Celcus 40 inch TV for £249. Picture quality is astonishing for the price and the Sky remote makes the TV work via a Sony code. Cheap and VERY good! Sadly I went back to buy another and all sold out.

I bought one of these yesterday in store for £299 - got it home and am genuinely impressed.

Great picture with strong blacks and good contrast - it's got 2 HDMI ports, Scart, component (white/red/yellow), YPbPr (for component blue/green for hd stuff), VGA (monitor cable) input too.

Really happy with it! Whether it's "bogus Sharp" or not, it's got a better picture than my 5-yr-old 26" Samsung, and supports full 1080p - looks absolutely incredible on the Xbox 360
