Tempted, reviews I can find are mixed and negativity seems to focus on banding , anyone got one of these or knows a bit about them, looks good value for a full hd 46" set and direct from Sharp too.

A friend of mine got the 42" for £799 and its as good as i've seen ,tested with ps3 , x360 , and v+ box hdd BBC channel .tempted myself but i couldnt stand the grief i would get from err indoors

1000 quid at richersounds/prc is the best I can see. Good price for a decent sized set.

Remember the standard 1080p disclaimer: it's only worth paying extra for if you sit close enough to see the extra pixels. For 46", that's about 6 feet - further away and you might as well save money and get a 720p plasma.

I have the same, I have had rear projections etc.. this is a great tv 1080p very good price, and all the EXPERTS will say 3rd pixel from the left is hazy but I love it, only slight problem I have found is sound is so all over the place from different inputs but all my stuff goes through Amp so not too bothered.

hope this helps

I'm tempted by the Sharp 42" LC-42AD5E model. Its not 1080p but can be had at a fantastic price. Does anyone own one? Any comments good/bad?

Other way round, you need to be further away the larger the screen!

Other way round!

He got it the right way around

The argument is that if you sit to far away you cannot distinguish between 720 & 1080 so you may aswell get the 720 panel. You have to be close enough to see the difference ...does that make sense :?

I almost just got this

2 hdmi 1080p
2 scart
1 vga doesnt do 1080
0 component

the lack of ports realy put me off

My ideal tv would do

3x Hdmi 1-1 Pixel Mapping
2x Scart Both RGB
2x Component 1-1 Pixel Mapping
1x VGA 1-1 Pixel Mapping

I could live with 1 less component and 1 less hdmi and only 1 scart thats rgb

but the ports on the sharp are very poor

Still Voted hot though as its a very good price

Just make sure the inputs are ok for you

I spotted this a few days ago when looking for a friend, but think we are going the plasma route

Shonk

does that mean if i used my Xbox360 through VGA then i wouldnt get 1080p? for my games and HD-DVD's?

thats correct

i dont think it even supports rgb (which is what vga uses)

Input port 1: HDMI x 2

Input port 2: SCART x 2

Input port 3: AV/S-Video In

Input port 4: RS232C

Input port 5: PC In (no RGB)

It seems they butchered the vga port to yuv (component)
and supply an adaptor to convert it to component leads

what does yuv mean? so VGA is converted to component? way too confusing for me.

it basicly means the vga port isnt a vga port its a component port
with vga plug on it

they supply a convertor to convert it back to component plugs

I wonder if anyone who got "stung" on the MustHave100 deal on this TV will do for this deal?

I've read LOADS of reviews on this TV and the general feeling is that it handles good quality inputs with incredible prowess, but SD is poor.

Good Price, voted hot.

:pirate: CJ :pirate:

So this tv really isnt going to be of benefit to me with a 360/hd dvd add-on played through vga and watching sky SD on it? shame it sounded like just what i needed, a 46" hd tv for under £900.

I have just come into a small amount of inheritance and i have just spent it on this TV.

Thanks
Cant wait for it to arrive.
