Braun Cooltec CT2w wet dry shaver £49.99 @ Shavers
Have been looking for new wet/dry shaver - Seems good offer, still around £200 everywhere else
Latest commentsPost comment

Shaver arrived quickly, packaged well. Cooltec gives great shave.

shavers are great for customer service. I would go for the pansonic ones though. As close to a wetshave as you can get.

How are shavers for customer service? Are they reliable? Very tempted to go with this.

Original Poster

Yes its still a fair bit cheaper, some people obviously have different opinions on how much is a saving, plus when it costs roughly £30 for new blades/trimmers for old shavers, this works out at good value.

Why is this cold? Seems like a good price

Tesco Outlet have the same brush for £49.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Panasonic-Sonic-Vibration-EW-DE92-S811-Rechargeable-Ionic-Toothbrush-White-/401288338156
If you add an eligible item, cheapest is £5, you get 10% off, making it £48.60.
ebay.co.uk/sme…p=2

There was an older head variety PowerUp (Sonicare's battery range) that got rave reviews and was apparently as powerful (31,000 strokes) as the rechargeables at the time. Sonicare's current PowerUp range gets pretty bad reviews if I remember right. Powered by 2 x AAs.

It was the Xtreme Power E3000 amazon.com/Phi…5RO (problems with leaking, though, think using Vaseline as a "seal" may help).
One review from 2016 says: "Discontinued in favor of far inferior successor Philips has yet to replace these with a suitable and comparable performing BATTERY POWERED edition from any line of the Sonicare models before or since.
I much prefer these to even the flagship more expensive models that carry inherently less reliable power designs as they all use the same lithium ion technology that by nature degrades over time and extended use."

More reviews: amazon.com/Phi…F1P (they also recommend removing the batteries after use, as they seem to constantly drain)

This comment, re Sonicare rechargeable models and the type of batteries used, is interesting (no idea if it's true): https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R2WM4OGES7IV2U/ref=cm_cr_getr_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B000FED5E4

The HX3351/HX3881 were maybe later models (?) http://www.usa.philips.com/c-p/HX3351_02/sonicare-xtreme-battery-sonicare-toothbrush/reviewandawards

So it can be done. Have Philips underpowered the newer battery models on purpose (?) to make us buy more? Probably.

As the Xtreme/Simply Clean battery models are discontinued, they go for crazy prices on ebay.

yes its trimmer not shaver - stubble not clean

This been a trimmer means it's not a shaver?

As in removing the beard rather than leaving a certain amount?

I have this one myself, it's a decent trimmer and the heads are easily replaceable. It's also quick to charge, super easy to clean especially with water and lasts quite a bit, I get about 3-4 shaves from one charge.

Downsides is the precise trimmer to do sides, it's a bit fiddly to handle being an extension of the whole trimmer. Second is the beard settings are too far apart, ie 1, 3, 5, 7 etc, if you want precise trims to the millimetres this isn't the one for you.

The cruzer 6 has the precise trimmer, I believe the cruzer 5 doesn't just to note

I tried the air floss which i think replaces this, its weak to the point that doesn't seem to do anything so I returned it. A friend has this and its powerful and effective and u control the bursts rather than the new one which only gives very tiny bursts of mostly air, this u can hold it down and get a stream of water or mouthwash.

Bit too powerful for my liking. I have one but haven't used it much.

can anyone comment on this product. any good?

Hhhm OIL PULLING. a very quick bit of research on Google has opened my eyes. I can't beleive this is not promoted by dentists as besides removing hundreds of thousands of bacteria from your teeth and gums via swishing coconut oil and spit out the bacteria filled oil after x amount of minutes swilling .
Don't ever think your teeth/gums are clean as a clean mouth will still have around one hundred thousand bacteria and a dirty mouth up to a billion . all these bacteria can end up inside our bodies potentially causing major health issues later on

It's a deal cause it's the cheapest out there DOOH........

sainsbury sells this one for 25 and 1000 one for 35

The toothbrush may be a good price although many shops are selling half price. All other prices same as Rrp . Are you the seller?

These come with a 2 or 3 year warranty, that'll be why they replaced it for you. Also the 600 series has generally been going up around the 12.99 price tag quite a few times, how is this a deal if you don't mind me asking?

I'm not sure about this model as it has two contrasting reviews, the £40 3 blade version looks decent for a daily shaver, if I brought this one I would probably use it for holidays tbh.

Quite tempted to get one of these, how close of a shave do they give?

Original Poster

I went for this one

Not the best shaver, I have the same more or less model... they tend to just change the numbers around but they are all similar.

Mine was advertised about 4-5 years ago as finally a shaver that can shave in one go, cost about £80 if I recall.

No such thing, you will need to run it 5-6 times across the face for a clean and smooth shave.

Its still a very good shaver, build solid to last decades it feels, cleans easily and shaves close mine still works well after 5 years
and using the original parts. Its top is made of steel and very robust.

I tried to change the battery but discovered it uses some weird special batteries inside, not normal rechargeable batteries and no spare parts on ebay or google, otherwise it needs more charging more often. One charge gets about 3-4 shaves I would say. After 3-4 years expect that to decrease to 2-3 due to battery wear.

Still way better then my brauns and Remington I had in the past. And for the price its still a good buy.

I think the reason it doesn't come up is because the Lighting Deal lasts … I think the reason it doesn't come up is because the Lighting Deal lasts for a couple of hours only and furthermore these toothbrushes sell out within less than 5 minutes!! I just about managed to get my order in on Monday, but I think its been around 2 weeks running that they have had these at less than £55 so keep an eye out on Amazon's Lightning Deals page.
