Excellent price.

IIRC, this is normally around the £20 mark.
I only use the Amber nectar Mobil 1 5/40 fully synthetic in my motor, but I've heard good things about Shell Helix. This says suitable for high performance engines, but doesn't explicitly state turbo engines.

Definitely a great price for a quality fully synth though, so heat where heat is due
Tried using quidco for a further 3.5% but now it states its not applied the further discount on ecp
Bought this for £24 about 5 weeks ago. Seems to have kept my car going but I couldn't see the bloody oil on the dipstick when filling it up - the oil is so clear! Heat added op
would this be suitable for a BMW e60 530 diesel ?
Check yourself but I think you need BMW LL-04 spec oil, not LL-01

Nice high quality lube!
good oil. good price
This oil is good for Petrol engines or Diesel engines without DPF.
This oil is NOT suitable for Diesel engines with DPF.

I have used Quidco/TCB on all my Eurocarparts/Carparts4less purchases with discount codes and they have all paid out so it should work.
Just reserved 2 of Shell Helix HX7 Engine Oil - 10W-40 - 5ltr and a Bosch oil filter for a mere £30.70!

Many thanks op.
No don't think so I think it's area a3 the c2 bit is important if you don't use it it may mess up your dpf as the oil may have a higher ash content
Where do you enter the code on the mobile site?

the codes mean viscosity at certain temperatures (obviously at lower temperatures, liquids become more viscous, and the manufacturers want to ensure the engine can cope)

since the UK very rarely even approaches the lower temperatures (meaning eg 5W30 requirement for oil), you can sleep easy - many different oil standards will be perfectly fine, but try to keep close to the one recommended by the manufacturer

yes: you can mix oils, no problems whatsoever unless you are stupid about it

Asda has got a 5w30 ll-04 one that would work for about £13 for 5 litres (you will need 7-8L)

The 30 or 40 part of the oil viscosity rating refers to the Hot part of the viscosity range.

Incorrect viscosity oils can often affect the bearings and turbo wear, as well as causing gaskets to weep as the oil is potentially a lot thinner (if 30 instead of 40) when the engine is hot. This can be especially problematic if this is a turbo oil seal as the engine will not then be able to turn off due to the diesel sucking in and burning the engine oil, quite a lot of diesel engines, especially BMWs have suffered from this and set the car on fire due to the engine uncontrollably surging and overheating.

Also, regarding the different oil approval lists for manufacturers (ie:LL01 or LL04 for BMW) there are additives added to prevent acidity changes and all sorts of other issues in the oil, if you want to use the recommended oil change periods, you need an approved oil. In the grand scheme of the costs of owning a car it's not much more.

Does it work with Honda Jazz 2008 model please?
if you have a DPF you are basically looking for a Acea C2/C3 oil in the correct viscosity for your engine. C ratings indicate low ash which helps reduce clogging.

Namely Shell Helix Ultra ECT C3 5W-30 - 5ltr but get from Carparts4Less web site using WEEKEND12 code (=£33.69 before any Topcashback ) as it is cheaper than ECP with CRAZY70 code.
Thanks, I used the CRAZY70 code to get two service kits for both mine and my missus car.

Saved £25 on the price quoted a few days ago with a different (not as good code).

Cheers OP
Ive been buying this for a few years now at ECparts for VW/oldBMW/Renaults. Best price yet.
