Got one and two on PS4 but just can't get back into it after having it on the Dreamcast many moons ago. I'm assuming it would be best to plough on before playing 3? Really wanted to enjoy it again but I'm just not feeling it.

For me (on release DC) it was because nothing else had been like it before. Sadly now we’re spoilt for choice for this kind of thing. It is aesthetically beautiful but really felt like it was a chore to finish. If you struggle with 1+2 HD I suggest it may have passed.

I didn't even complete the first one on Dreamcast tbh, you're spot on with the nothing like it before on DC as there wasn't. I guess they should've released the HD versions with a free pair of rose tinted specs.

Now if there was an HD remake of DC Shadowman.......

I hadn't played 1 or 2 for 18 years and played 3 and got that nostalgia hit which was nice but it soon wears off.
This was a poor game IMO. If it was a remaster or an Indie game released at a lower price it would have been more acceptable. But it was made in almost the exact same style from 20 years ago which was already badly dated. Then they charged full price for it.

To charge full price for this, when it isn't even complete and runs like crap on both base and Pro consoles is an insult. They did almost nothing to bring it up to modern standards. Even at this price it's too expensive. £15 is about how much it's worth and it won't take long for it to hit that price now.

Shadowman... what a game that was, depending on the console. The PS1 version was shabby but the N64 version was an absolutely cracking game. Never played the DC version but imagine it was the best of the bunch.
have to agree with most others, loved the first two when they came out but they really have not aged well and only played a small part of the first before i stopped it was a chore, great games in there day but very poor now.

Absolutely loved the game. So atmospheric and played really well.

The insult to me was that this was supposed to be the end of the story but out of nowhere yu suzuki says "actually I wanted to make this a 9 part game" and left this one on a cliff hanger. So he ruined the trilogy for me

Looooool 9 part game!

The third one sold poorly. If he wants to make another one and goes down the Kickstarter route again I doubt players will be as generous this time around. If the gameplay isn't going to improve and he wants to milk six more games out of fans, they'll walk away fast.

I think most fans realised after playing part 3 that it was better left in the past. Once the nostalgia wears off it really is a painful game to play through. All three of them are. They were stunning back in the day but back in the day was two decades ago. A new game in the series had to be modernised to stand a chance.

I'd be very surprised if a part 4 comes out in all honesty. After making fans wait nearly 20 years for a conclusion, he released an archaic game stuck in the past that came no closer to closing out the story. Goodwill wont be on his side this time IMO.
yep. fans paid for the story to be finished. not to be ripped off with a mediocre game, when there are better everywhere.

the fact story doesn't finish, stopped me from buying it.
