Stocks and Shares ISA (3% average) - *Capital at risk* + £90 TCB at Shepherds Friendly
With cash savings rates at an all time low, I wanted something fairly low risk that would get me some return on my savings. A friend recommended this to me about 5 years ago but I … Read more

Yeah that one phone call and one email was a nightmare when I closed mine...

Also worth noting that you can pay into only one S&S ISA per year.

Richief

That's pretty much what I mean't. You would be pretty hard pushed to lose on this but it is dependent on the cash back paying out. I've changed my mind on this deal. I'm not sure on ISA's any more, if doing this would stop you putting money into another ISA but for someone not bothered about that its pretty low risk for a good percentage gain but it all depends on the cashback paying out.

smallsteve

That’s pretty much it isn’t it! If you are prepared to put the minimum amount in and then get it out sooner rather than later, then as long as the cashback is paid you would be unlucky to lose here and, more likely, gain from it. Having said that, if the cashback is not paid and then market conditions turn against you, you could come a cropper! So, you have to consider whether it is worth the risk, which is always the case with any such investment. This wouldn’t be a product that I would want to invest without any kind of incentivisation!

Shepherds Friendly Stocks and Shares ISA Cashback TCB or Quidco
The deal is back. Worth the effort for those that did it last year. Available both through TCB and Quidco but TCB has better rates now. Yes, there are handling and annual membershi… Read more

For those that have been paid and want to take out the money, I would wait till Feb, as it says they add the annual bonus by the end of January.

hitmant

Not changed on mine yet :L

MARFW

Changed to "Payable" on Topcashback. Happy days.

samArsenal

Around that. Mine changed to ‘confirmed’ about 10 days ago. So a month from then it should be payable (fingers crossed)

hitmant

Does that mean we'll have to wait another month??

I got the below email from Topcashback promoting the Shepherds Friendly ISA, saying that you can get up to £250 for opening an ISA with them!: “Earn an exclusive cashback rate of u… Read more

My advice to anyone opening a S&S ISA is to check this comparison site http://www.comparefundplatforms.com/. Cashback can seem tempting but the higher fees will erode any gains that your money may make. Go for the lowest fee possible.

It should be made clearer that this is an investment, not a savings vehicle, so its risky, especially with Brexit uncertainty and how that will affect stocks and shares. Such investments rarely give you their past performance as a guide, so you have no idea whether they are worth investing in. Also Quidco are usually difficult about paying cashback but now even TCB are at it. One trick when you join TCB is they make you a paying member (£5 a year) without telling you! I know its not much but when you earn £13 cashback and take £5 off it, its a large chunk taken away. Cashback sites are becoming as deceptive as gambling websites.

TCB is ok when it works however I have had over £300 denied and currently have 5 untracked claims. One last thing the text says this is a stock market investment but the chances of losing money seem slim.Seriously?

CrashOverride

If you're happy to risk the money then this is a good deal, however if you are not it is easy to get more than 3% on your 'savings' if you're clever about it. A small amount of work (not hard, but you need to focus) and you have standing orders etc that all bounce around to earn you decent (well, the best you can achieve) amounts of interest. Not many switching deals out there anymore but coupled together they would beat this deal with no risk. The disadvantage is if the stocks soar you may get more.

priceyrice

From my experience do not do this, I did this last year, fully complied with all the requirements and cash never got paid, I wasn't even able to raise a query through TCB - my advice would be not to touch it.

Start of September

borat1234

When did you take out your cover?

mosgas

Got my M&S voucher yesterday, anyone know if you can use it to buy gift cards?

borat1234

Still nothing off legal and general, so i emailed them and they replied saying that they issue the voucher after 4 months so probably wont get it till February by the time they allow for dispatch and delivery time!? I might as well stick it out now, but potentially a bigger outlay.

Crapweasel

Great, will do. Thanks for the additional info, it sounds like a winner if they all pay out! :)
