If you're in the market for a pro level chainset then take a look at this great deal from Merlin Cycles on Shimano's top of the line chainset. RRP is £500, though no-one ever pays that, but it's still significantly cheaper than anyone else on the market. There are a number of sizes available.

I realise that a deal like this isn't for everyone, but please don't trot the 'You can buy a bike for that' and vote cold - this is a hot deal if you are in the market for a top chainset, though I'll readily admit that the previous generations looked better.

some great deals for MTB'ers too

the SLX M7000 / XT M8000 11 speed is ridiculously cheap,

bought a few spare XT Rear derailleurs £42.50,
shifters, cranksets, cassettes are so much cheaper than elsewhere

You can buy a bike for that...

I'll raise you; I could buy a bike and a car for that a coffee and a doughnut.

I bet if you shopped round you could find a bike for that money with this part fitted. Then you would also have many more spares like tyres etc.

Errrm no, you couldn't.......... With all other parts being of the same spec, you'll get no change from £2k- and that's the minimum. And if the bike had THIS part alone fitted- why would anyone do that, when the part's worth more than the rest of the bike?

Am Tempted, didn’t know I wanted one till now. Is it worth spending £250 to upgrade from ultegra ?

It will have a chainset fitted granted, but you'll struggle to find a Dura Ace chainset on a bike less than £2.5k.

I challenge you find one and post it, though upper end stuff really isn't your bag, is it!

You really need to replace the whole groupset to get the improvement that Dura Ace offers...so £1200 is about the going rate for a 9100 mechanical groupset.

That was the conclusion I came to , haven’t got deep enough pockets at this time of year.
