Shimano 2 x 10 SLX transmission groupset. Great kit fro the price I'm kicking myself for buying a Deore groupset for a similar price a few months ago. The Deore groupset transformed my pretty tired mountain bike so I think this would also be a great upgrade especially if you need to replace a few components it may work out a similar price to change the whole lot. Comes with gear inner and outer cables so you can convert your cables to be concealed all the way through the frame to keep the muck out. As far as I know SLX is a pretty good combination of price/performance. There's a two different cassette combinations available on the site as well.

Groupset Contains:

Chainset: 26/36 175mm

Bottom Bracket: 68/73mm Hollowtech 11

Rear Derailleur: M675 sgs Shadow Plus

Front Derailleur: M676

Gear levers: M670 including cables

Cassette: HG81 SLX 10 Speed

Chain: HG75

cracking price for quality mid range groupset!!
was thinking of changing my bike to a 20 speed too, might just do that now.
nice find op!

Or spend a little more on a bike with a decent setup already fitted. This stuff is at the 'law of diminishing returns' end of the tech spectrum.

Is it no longer PC or the right spec to have 27 gears now? Have I missed something or is 2x10 just a more reliable setup?

Actually 2x10 is well out of date most mountain bikers are using 1x10 with narrow wide chain ring and a rear mech with clutch, soon i will be 1x11

thanks, then in 10 years time it will be back to how many can we squeeze on to make it look like an advancement.
I'll need to go read into latest tech...clutch sounds interesting.

The tech is getting pretty crazy now with the 11 speed XTR DI2 coming out but for those of us who are mere mortals £999 for a groupset is a bit excessive.

I had a 24 speed groupset on my bike and it was all pretty long in the tooth so I changed the whole lot for a Deore 2 x 10 for £150 and it was HUGE improvement. The Hollowtech 2 bottom bracket is great as well it feels like all the power going to the pedals is hitting the road/track as opposed to being lost in the drivetrain.

I was going to sell the bike off cheap but the groupset transformed it and it was like a new bike but without having to pay out £6-800. I know the 11 speed is due out but it certainly won't be cheap and I don't think the performance gain will be that much over the current gen.

I like the look of the 1x11 as it's a lot simpler at the front but again it's pricey and you can rattle through gears very quickly on a 2x10 and you still have a decent range to work with.

Cold. Bikes should be banned. Nothing but a pain in the a*** on our roads and pavements. Also when catching train blocking doors. The arrogance is shocking.

You left an idiotic comment on a bike component deal just to get a reaction from cyclists. You my friend are a troll.

Cars should be banned, I seen one parked on a cycle path before.

Motorists have no respect for cyclists. They are always parking in cycle lanes where I live. Tazza84 obviously gets up on the wrong side of the bed everyday!

All forms of road transport should be banned except for mine, I hate being help up by others. Am I asking for a bit much?
However if cyclists must exist, then this is a good deal - hot.

I hate all over forms of transport on the road apart from motorbikes, eveyone else get off the roads, that includs 50cc and 125's.

Would I be able to fit this set myself as an average idiot?

Cheaper than my road tax

Not a groupset really, no brakes. Or are there no brakes in SLX?
I was ready to jump on this when I noticed that. Brakes is the first thing I need to replace.
Any comments on how this would compare to a 6-year old XT drivetrain? Apart from the ht2 cranks the rest is probably of similar spec/performance.

I dunno but please made a video of it when you do, could do with a laugh.

This one is a transmission groupset so everything but the brakes. You can buy a disc brake groupset but on

This one is a transmission groupset so everything but the brakes. You can buy a disc brake groupset but it cost £299 so you might be better off getting the transmission groupset and sourcing a pair of XT brakes as they are supposed to be the sweet spot in the range.

I have previous gen XT brakes on my bike as well and I don't think they would be outperformed by new SLX. I did see a pair of new XT brakes on chainreactioncycles.com on a recent sale for around £100 so you could have the whole set up for about £270 if you shop around. Or if you're willing to pay a bit more the XT transmission groupset is on merlin cycles for £299 so with brakes could be around £400

It's relatively easy to fit but you would need a basic bike toolkit that you can get from amazon for around £25-30 but a lot cheaper than using a bike shop to fit it.

I fitted the whole groupset to my bike and it wasn't too difficult and if you're happy tuning the gears then you should be fine.

Failing that there are a lot of YouTube videos that are pretty useful.

invest another 10-15 quid in the Haynes bike book and you'll have no problems. opens your eyes to how to fettle stuff.

Does the bb for any mtb?

Does the bb for any mtb?

As far as I know yes as I don't think mountain bikes have english/Italian threads like road bikes and I removed a completely different bottom bracket to fit the Hollowtech 2 BB

You could make your own full groupset this weekend: £152.90 after discount
And brakes £89.99 less 10% = £81
merlincycles.com/shi…tml
£89.99 less 10%

absolute bargain today,

Or pay £270 on the full set

if I bought this what would a bike shop charge to fit it, any estimate
