Not for everyone, granted. But if you must have XTR on your bike (you know who you are) this looks like a great deal for a groupset (doesn't include hubs and pedals, but has everything you need for a full set of gears and brakes). The set contains:

XTR crankset including bottom bracket, with 22/32/44T rings (cheapest approx £280)
XTR M970 STI combined shift/brake units (cheapest approx £161)
XTR M970 V Brakes (cheapest approx £120)
XTR M972 carbon normal rear derailleur
XTR M970 series front derailleur (cheapest approx £160 for F&R mechs at Rutland Cycles - that's a bargain itself)
11-32 or 12-34 XTR M970 series cassette (cheapest approx £110)
9-speed XTR chain (cheapest approx £21)

That totals over £850, so this is a saving of over £200 even on the cheapest prices for all the individual components. Of course most can do just fine with the better value XT, but for what it is this is a good deal to me.

XTR Quality Rocks.

No wait for the "I can buy a complete bike for £70" posts.

Just as a comparison for anyone interested: you could do an equivalent of the above in XT (not all from a single matching series though) for under £300.

XT M761 Hollowtech II crankset including bottom bracket (£80, JE James)
XT M760 STI combined shift/brake units (£60, Cycle surgery)
XT M770 V Brakes (£40, Chain reaction)
XT M771 Shadow rear derailleur (£40, Chain reaction)
XT M760 series front derailleur (approx £24)
XT cassette (approx £37)
XT chain (approx £17)
