I have one of these. Absolutely fantastic helmet, recommended. All you need is the right shape head.

I'm trying to decide between this and a Suomy. This is £130 cheaper, both fit well, just can't decide which design I want for the next few years.

Kinda rules me out having the right shape of napper for a Shoei lid. Great spot though, heat added.

Do you fit AGVs? I found that to be the worst fit for me and suomy and shoei the best... strange.

Got an AGV Max Biaggi replica. Fits really nice. Would this be a similar fit then?

got one of these too, in black

very nice lid, comfy as hell!

great price!

I've got an Arai head, and really need a new helmet. My Arai is now 20 years old! (with original visor)
Yes I know, it should have been replaced long ago etc. but I 've just never got around to it, as I don't use the bikes much these days. The value of my head has depreciated rapildy over the years.
The fact that my Arai lasted so long means I'l probably buy another Arai.

I wore AGV's before I found Shoei and found the fit to be similar, although the X-Spirit is the only helmet I'll ever buy now and I'm on my third.
Obviously though, you would never buy a helmet unless you had tried it on or at least found which model and size fits.

I wish I had a bike :-(

They are clearing these because the new XR-1100 will be out next month.
Great price

Nice find! i'm in the market for a new lid.

i know hein gericke have got this GP tech 7 helmet at a big discount as they want to shift old stock.

sadly it didn't fit properly otherwise i would of bought it

Great lid, being wearing mine (also from J&S) for about 3 and a half years now. Top quality bit of kit, very light and pretty quiet too. Pinlock visor works a treat at keeping the view ahead clear.
£200 is a steal, it was cheap when I bought it those years ago at about £280

I'm hoping to get my first 125 soon, but unfortunatly can't afford everything. Would you suggest going with a cheaper helmet to start off?

I'm picking up one of these in plain black for £194 today from my local shop. Wouldn't have minded the "Straight" pattern one, but it's an extra £50.

Best way, nip into hein gericke, try one on, get the right size and get this deal!

XR1000 are an awesome lid, had mine 2 years, just replaced the cheekpads after they wore a little (helmet used to lift a bit at 120+) and you can get replacement pads, visors and other parts at any shoei authorised dealer. They even clean it for you free of charge

I'd suggest a cheaper bike ! Better Helmet ?

The more expensive helmets are probably going to be lighter, less wind noise etc. but it you look at the helmet testing site sharp.direct.gov.uk/ you can get a 5 star helmet for £70 if your just after something cheap for your first bike.

I have the Shoei X-Spirit Daijiro Kato which I've had for about 5 years, cost me around £400 if i remember correctly?
How does this XR1000 compare in comparison?
I'm not sure if the X-spirit is an older model or not? Have done quick google and they seem to be still £300+

I picked up one of these (differnt design in Black/white dragon types things though) for about 230 on offer about 6 months ago - great helmet and a lot better than the Carberg I had before.

Dont buy it unless you can try one out first though - I only bought it online after ensuring the medium fitted me at a local shop. I found I was a large Arai but a medium Shoie (or was that the other way round)

If got an XR800 and its a great fit, very comfortable. Wind noise however is terrible. Anyone know if the XR1000 is much better?

I'm a medium in both this and the Arai Condor.

There is no need to spend £200 on a helmet, there are many perfectly safe helmets for less than £100. I had an £80 Shark that did a very good job for me as I bounced down the East Lancs Road. The additional cost is for better ventilation, removable/washable lining, colours and weight. Do a search on SHARP ratings and look at the Motorcycle News website for helmet ratings. Check the fit, as other posters say, you may be one size in one brand but another in a different brand also different helmets suit diferent head shapes.

This helmet is a very good lid and at a very good price, Shoei don't fit me though. My AGV X-Vent Rossi rep has served me very well since 2003.

Not sure to be honest mate, the only other lid I have owned was a AGV some years ago and that was at much lower speeds (being on a 100cc at the time).

It is quite noisy with all the vents open, particularly the top ones which can make a whistle type sound at some speeds but nothing disastrous

For this kind of money i best be see a HUD of how fast i am going

Good price for a great helmet Heat added!

I recently brought an Arai Condor at Daytona Kawasaki for £169.99, if the Shoei is not your cup of tea.

quick google search found 189.99 for the patriot version of this model from helmet city. Plus 10pnp though so maynot be cheaper (using a mobile and can't get j and s to load up?!)

I've got a Shoei shaped head too, had a Z-One and two XR1000's - great lids! The X-Spirit (aka X-11) came out at the same time as the XR-1000, but is classed as the "flagship model" of the Shoei range.

I had one of these in the "Patriot" design.

The best lid I ever had, until I bought my Arai.

Done well over 20k in it, used to ride 380 mile runs to Uni 6+ times a year and used to forget it was on.

Had to retire it when some divvy ol' bint "just didn't see me..." although it wears its batte-scars with pride and looks tidy on the wall. Paid over 400 quid for it 3 years ago and would still pay that now!
