I was able to download a eBook for free a few weeks ago.

You're showing me the 30% off code working..? I mentioned that the HSBC Advance Account members offer code wasn't working i.e. the code which should allow you to get it for 'free'? 'FREE download of Lonely Planet's Best in Travel 2018 ebook' https://advancemembers.hsbc.co.uk/freebie/lonely-planet

lkl265

Seems to work for me

sabresonic

HSBC Advance Account code doesn't appear to be working...did you use it recently?

I purchased a couple of the e-books a few weeks ago, not sure what's considered 'bigger' but New Zealand (700 pages(ish)) was 43Mb and Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Northern Thailand (580 pages(ish)) was 52Mb...(assuming you meant storage space) as opposed to how much your mind can hold? ;)

SoCal

Some good bargains on there. Just wondering how much memory you will need for some of the bigger 'books'

Thanks, I have changed the description

DrBones

It's not a 70% off code - it reduces the price to £4.99 (which I'm guessing is UP TO 70% off). I think it's hot though...

how do know what they have on their ebooks?

woldranger

Really? I still come across shed-loads of people using LP books, either hard copies or, more frequently, ebooks. So from my experience it seems that their guides aren't quite as few and far between as you allude. Certainly not the case for India or Sri Lanka (where I am at the mo), across the northern counties of South America last year or Central America the year before....

squirrel63

Doesn't work... says code not valid.

eatmorefish

Oh BBC, why did you do it? 100 Mil loss (it's only license payers money) when any fool could see Tripadvisor was a better prospect. One of the few benefits of the trusted lp guide nowadays is that so few people use them you are unlikely to be met by another guide book carrying traveller when taking their recommendations. Would be hot for a physical copy at this price.

Fuzen_angels

Yep that worked. Thanks for that. No idea why ePub does not work.

zoolander2

Sorry, that should have said PDF, not PDR.

zoolander2

I have just ordered and have it in iBooks, treating it as any other PDR download if that helps. So I downloaded from the link in the order confirmation, choosing to download as pdf then when that opened (showing the front cover full screen) I touched the screen for the 'open in iBooks' to appear at the top and selected that. So if you are on your iPad and access the order email hopefully that will work.

Fuzen_angels

Not showing at all in my iBooks. According to their site, a direct download should go to iBooks. Not impressed!

Fuzen_angels

Ok just bought this, and downloaded it, but not showing in my iBooks. I have not done this before by the way!

adoyle1987

Actually, I have checked - you are right, its the initial RRP you get the discount from.

"Back in the day"....they were good. Company was sold, books went rapidly downhill.
