Should I Answer? App @ Google Play Store

Found 18th Aug 2015
Should I Answer is free mobile security application protecting you against unsolicited, expensive, unwanted or unknown calls. It's more than call blocker.

Should I answer the call? This question can come into a mind of every person who sees an unknown incoming call. Each of us had (or will have) the opportunity to face the unsolicited call, telemarketing campaign, advertisement or some kind of fraud call. How should we find out that the calling number is harmless and answering it will not cost us tens of minutes of precious time or significant amount of money?

Notification Features
• Displays phone number rating immediately when phone starts ringing
• Does not touch or display ratings for your numbers stored in contacts!
• Works offline – uses offline rating database (internet connection not needed)
• Fast access to detailed phone number information and user reviews
• Fast access to write own review

Optional Blocking Features
• Blocks calls from hidden numbers
• Blocks calls to premium rate numbers
• Blocks calls to foreign countries
• Blocks calls from/to negative rated numbers
• Blocks calls from numbers defined on private block list
• Can blocks all calls from numbers which are not in contact list!
• Never blocks or touch any number from your contact list!

Predefined protection levels
After installation you can choose from 3 predefined protection levels to quickly and easily set the configuration for your needs. You can customize it anytime in settings afterwards.

How is the database of ratings and numbers created?
The database is built-up by the community of all users who have the application installed and/or visiting the application pages. The users can anonymously send ratings and reviews for public phone numbers (we do not collect info for private numbers) based on real answered calls. These ratings are stored in central server database where our admins can check them and after evaluation and approval the reviews with ranking are then distributed to all mobile phones with our application installed.

Why the application demands access to contacts and phone calls in my mobile?
Such information are used by the application to distinguish between your private contacts stored in your mobile and new incoming calls – so the rating form is displayed only for new not rated/not private numbers in your history. Your private contacts are never sent to server (generally speaking they never leave your mobile).

sounds like a good app, this gets the word around. u tried it and it didn't do nothing for me which was odd I've got a Huawei P8.
Sounds good, will give it a try. Cheers OP and heat added
Any alternatives for iOS? Seems to be a good idea since I'm receiving plenty of them silly "have you been involved in an accudent" calls...
I had a call from one of those ambulance chasers yesterday. Told them I had an accident a couple of weeks ago and it left me with a big crack in my bottom. For some reason they cut me off :-(
I use this old gem when the ambulance chasers phone me:

Them: "Hi, I am calling about the accident you were involved in"
Me: "Really?"
Them: "Yes, can you please tell me the date of the accident?"
Me: "I honestly dont remember, it must've been a bad accident as its given me memory loss? Could you tell me about it please?"
Them: "Our system doesnt hold details about individual accidents"
Me: "Well i dont know, you've got me worried now if my memory loss is that bad...?"

etc etc... usually goes on for a minute or 2 until they cut me off X)

Or the other beauty i heard someone at my work use once:

Them: "Hi, have you had an accident in the workplace?"
Colleague: "Oh, i diddnt think anyone knew about it!"
Them: "Ok, can you tell me what happened...?"
Colleague: "Well, i felt the urge, but i diddnt quite make it to the toilet in time. There was so much poo man, I managed to clean it up before anyone noticed, but it was an accident!"

They promptly hung up - the office was in fits of laughter X)

How does this compare to Truecaller?
Cheers op. I'll give it a go. Tired of the relentless ppi and ambulance chasers calls
Might give this a shot. Admittedly I am a timid person so tend not to answer unknown numbers but I have been getting more and more unknown calls of late, dont know weather to answer in the event its a random competition I have gone for or some other place I have given my number to or just the scam spammers.

Thanks again

Currently have this and not impressed. When you block a call the phone still rings once before going straight to answer machine.
My actual phone does a better job but have to save no. in my phone book.
Would be nice for calls not to go to answer machine but it may not be possible.
Looking for alternative

For those unaware, you can register your mobile number with the Telephone Preference Service. Stopped receiving PPI calls shortly after I'd registered:…tml
These companies don't always follow TPS regulations, so when they call I remind them that they are committing a criminal offence and may I have their name. The promptly say they will remove my details from their system and that's the last I hear from them.
seems to be working! 24 hours in and no ambulance chasers. usually get a few a day! nice one op!
The people running this app are not playing fair with internet remarks. I left a piece of feedback re a number I knew was the cause of a huge number of nuisance calls. This page updated to a negative feedback to show the recorded feedback. But going straight back to the page showed a neutral no review feedback? So, search the number by google, reselect the link onto this 'should I answer' and 100%nuetral rating. So they have 'scraped' the review from the internet for use in the app but show a 'no review' webpage.... to generate reviews. SLY! and therefore I will block.
This is better than truecaller. TC keeps sending me an ad after every blocked call and popping up "useful"(not useful) information. Only annoyance with this is the notification in the pull down.
