The SE425 utilizes dual, balanced armature drivers for an incredibly accurate and balanced listening experience. It also includes an integrated passive crossover that ensures high and low frequencies remain distinct and defined. The SE425 sounds very natural and is the perfect choice for audiophiles - whether on-stage or on the go.

Sound Isolating Earphones were originally developed as Personal Monitor Systems to allow musicians to hear their own performances in loud onstage environments.

They work by using soft, flexible sleeves to block up to 90 % of the background noise. You can concentrate on your music, whether you are on-stage, in a train, on the street or working out. At the same time you can reduce the audio level to conserve your hearing.

The SE425 features a durable Kevlar reinforced cable that allows easy replacement or customisation. The formable wire ensures secure placement, and over the ear configuration keeps cables out of the way. The gold plated MMCX connector has a lock-snap mechanism allowing 360 degree rotation for comfortable fit.

Because every ear is different, the Fit Kit includes an assortment of foam and silicone sleeves in different sizes. Experiment with the size and style that creates the best fit for you. A good seal is key to optimizing sound isolation and bass response as well as maximizing comfort during extended wear.

I called to double check price and stock before I ordered. £119 ans only 2 in stock (for the whole company) at that time. Did they tell you it was mispriced?

Saying that when I go to my account history it shows the order value as £99!?!

Might just be showing me the EX-VAT price.

I can't possibly recommend Shure earphones. The cable will go brittle and crack.
Although I had heard reports about it I foolishly thought 'it won't happen to me'.

The Shure 530's are one of the worst purchases I have ever made. Appalling customer service too.

I had that problem with an old pair of Shures, crap cables!! Seem to have completely replaced them with Kevlar now.

That price is mentally awesome. Wife'll never sign off on them though.

Heat!

Cables are replaceable and I have heard the opposite about Shure's CS. Interesting to hear otherwise.

wish I'd seen these earlier, saw it around the time reply #10 was posted and it was't adding to basket. I've misplaced my se420 and this would have been perfect.

as mentioned the cable issue isn't no longer a problem for the sexx5 line of in ears, on the other hand I have the se210 and se420 and not had the cable issue(have had the se210 for several years).

Original Poster

I had a couple of SE210 and one SE420 in the past and ALL of them developed a fault at the wire without fail, even the replacement ones from Shure within warranty. That was due to the hook around the ear arrangement which weaken the bending part of the cable which is basically a design fault.

They have now replaced the cables in the SE215, SE315, SE425 and SE535 with reinforced cable at that area and also making the cable detachable. My SE215 has been working fine.

I hope this post did help someone to get a bargain the end. I had a call from the customer service to confirm my delivery address so they are certainly honouring it.

I have a pair of Shure 535's and despite the price they are one of the best purchases I have ever made. Will never go back to listening to mp3s with ipod headphones.

I have Shure 535s and the best thing I did was get custom earphone sleeves moulded to my ears.
Price has gone up a bit.

Yes just to echo what others have said I had failed cables on my various Shure earphones and had 5 warranty replacements! Their customer service was excellent and when they were out of warranty they offered me a good price on SE535 and I can thankfully confirm the new cable on the XX5 does fix the problem perfectly. I've had 535 2-3 years, in the past I would be on my 3rd or 4th pair by now but not had a single issue with 535

Well they arrived today and sound great!! Also the cables are a mile better than the old cracktastic ones.
