If you wanted to hear the original music it wouldn't be through any digital means. Change your price to the 180 through edit.

I have a pair of shure E4C they are truly amazing at delivering all sounds, i know it might look gimmicky but they are amazing ill rate hot!

> f you want to hear the music as it was originally intended
... and make sure you don't "waste" these by playing MP3 compressed audio through them.
(probably hot, but I'm quite happy with my ER6i's)

they look amazing and the reviews are excellent but I couldnt bring myself to spend that kinda cash-would be terrified of snapping the wires which look very thin-voted hot for bargain value tho.

I was in until you said "these bad boys"

Not sure what this quote is trying to say Adam2050. acer098 said ‘as it was originally intended’, not the actual real original sound waves. Are you talking about mp3’s not being great quality compared to WAV (or FLAC) or are you just a massive vinyl fan?

(I have 4 record turntables)

*Raises hand* I'm part of the "£200 for headphones? You must be joking!" bridage, but not going to vote either way My £10 cheapies do me lovely Kudos to you though if you have money to burn on £200 earphones though!

No offence but thats a carp kinda reply, this is a bargain site, if people with this sort of money have a problem spending the ridiculous amount of money on this sort of item, then they really have no need to be shopping here, if you get my thinking on this. I have neither voted hot nor cold. I say ridiculous based on your statement about superior headphones for non portable for devices. £180 quid for a pair of headphones for the tube journey/car whatever is a no brainer for anyone who is sensible with there money, yes you could say its not for me. I simply wouldn't spend money like this even if there was a significant difference in sound quality for this type of headphone. What i'm trying to get too is the fact that people can vote it cold, if they don't think its a bargin. I really don't feel it is. My opinnion though, counts for nothing really.

"or are you just a massive vinyl fan?" - CHEEPSTUFFRULES - Not really, but digital as many know is never quite as good as analog. So really waste of money

Personal opinion on deals does not come into how you should vote.
The only question you need to ask yourself is - can you get this product for cheaper elsewhere? If yes, then vote cold and post a link as to where. If no, then vote hot.

Nope. Has to be the same.

Otherwise it'd be like saying you're voting cold on a deal at McDonalds that gives you 50% off all items just because Burger King are doing 51% off. They are different deals.

Agreed. I have no interest in this area of the market, and hence no knowledge of prices for this range of earphones, resulting in a non vote, and content to leave it to those who would be better suited to judge the product

This is HOT not COLD! £179.99 for these is very good! And you will get some Quidco too!

I don't agree with people saying "if you have the money to spend then you shouldn't be shopping at Play!". I am not made of money but appreciate good quality. Why listen to background music all your life! Feel it in your head, hear the soundstage, the detail. And even with MP3s you can get get a vast improvement over standard buds.

And it is easy to really boost the sound by getting an iPod Line Out (LOD) cable for £10 and connecting this to a small headphone amp that can be bought for £40. Yes you have to invest some cash but the results will be superb!

Oooh I am tempted to get these but have spent to much on Xmas pressies for the moment!

no offence but thats a carp kinda reply, for what it is, it is a bargain. i dont think saving 3p on some butter or another old 1998 back catalogue dvd for £2.99 is particularly great but hey ho, swings and roundabouts, good deals like this come around every so often. how many times have items come on here that people dont 'need' but end up buying because of the decent price. you could buy a cheap 300 quid lcd sure, but why not spend the extra 100 quid on something better. and so on and so fourth.
digital is a waste of money? do you walk around with a turntable in your bag/pocket?

These could be good for people with BIG hair as an alternative to larger 'clamp on' headphones.

I have a £1200 Tascam portable DAT, will I look daft if I got these so I could listen to it on the tube? Or should I get one of those Vestax mobile turntables to sit on my lap for the true analogue sound?

I find this type of voting increasingly annoying it makes the Hot tab worthless imo. Is it a Hot 'deal' for SE530? Yes. Its not a question of do you think its hot to spend £180 on 'headphones'.

Is that Avatar a pic of your plane?

To be honest I've stopped paying that much attention to the voting system now, it isn't worth the code its written in. I've got some Sure E2C headphones, yes I know they're not in the same league as these ones, but the difference its made in the quality of the sound is jaw dropping, if I could afford the SE530's I wouldn't hesitate to buy them at this price. Voted hot as its a good price for these headphones.

If you're happy with your £10 cheapo headphones, I'm pleased for you.

If you've got this kind of money to spend I'm jealous.

I'll have to stick to my E2C's for now.

Anyone buying these will be wanting them for a PORTABLE device. If they were buying them for home only use then there are plenty of superior full size headphones available in this price range.

Hardly snobbishness (wot I wrote about MP3), just common sense.
There's little point paying large amounts of money on a piece of equipment that is designed
specifically to reproduce the nuances and details of a piece of music, when those same
nuances and details have been lost in the compression mode used to record them.
By all means use these (as I use my high-end earbuds) for music sources that have the same level
of quality that they can reproduce - but using high-quality 'phones with low quality music (or
vice-versa) is simply a waste.

I tried out these mega bucks buds at the "Stuff" show recently. The Sure dealer was raving about them but I was not remotely "blown away" when I tried them which tends to make me agree that you won't get the best out of these plugged into an MP3 source.

Somehow the equation of £200+ phones plugged into £100+ MP3player does not compute. If these phones were banged into a £1,000 amplifier linked to an equally high end source you might be getting somewhere.

Call me Mr Deafo but i'd rather listen to my iPod using a pair of the very excellent Creative EP830's than these Sure bank busters.

It is very subjective.

It all depends on the quality of the source, if the headphones were burnt in, and if you were in a place where you could appreciate them.

I do think that if you are going to spend £200 you do need to look at getting a small headphone amp to drive them and make sure you have a good source. Just adding £200 phones to 128kbps MP3s won't get you very far.

Wazuck! No wonder you are built like a twig....get a proper meal inside you young man!

Rip off price = garbage product.

why ?

well, if u want audiophile quality, you would want a full size headphone, like a Sennhieser hd600 ( around £ 100 )

and if u want in ear noise reduction, then u can get these from the likes of sony for around £ 35

to ask for £ 199 for a pair of in ear phones is a joke, no matter how good you could possibly make them, they are still severely compromised the the tiny size.

its like making mini £ 1000 hi fi speakers, that use 2" drivers, and say that they are the very best ever, for this size.

who cares - when a £ 50 standmount will beat it sonically, simply due to the physics of the bigger speaker.

thus, £ 200 on these is pointless in every way.

erm, b'stid inflation again, they were £ 79** when I bought them some years ago...

so whats the game here, the more people work to earn MORE money, the more the prices of everything goes up -

will anyone ever notice this, and just say feck it, and work 3 days a week, and live exactly the same as they do now, as it would all be relative...

until that day, me is chillin' with me HD600s ( ** actually I own the HD580s , exact same drive units, the 600s were just a cosmetic upgrade , not a lot of people know that )

Flawed logic son. Almost as pointless as saying why buy a laptop when a more powerful desktop at a cheaper price can be had. There are some people that might just want high quality audio reproduction on-the-go in as small a footprint as possible.

For example, I don't want to lug hd600's on a train commute as they are too big and hardly discrete. Noise reduction is unimportant when most good IEM's will isolate to around 30dB or more so it not just as simple as saying wanting either one or the other.

I've gone from cheapish canalphones (sony ex71, gx200's, cx300 etc) to more expensive Triple.Fi, Klipsch X10 and soon to be Westone 3's and I can say that the cost while a bit steep is worth it if you appreciate sound quality, have that kind of money to splash and you do travel enough to justify its need. Though that being I do actually prefer listening to my X10's more than my full size Denon AD2000 cans sometimes so maybe the traveling bit is unimportant!!

I so want some Westone 3's. Shame the $/£ is so poor at the moment! At $1.90 to the £ I would have jumped on these!

If you want to sell your triples or X10s let me know!

I use a rio karma with flac loaded onboard and have looked at these and the ]ie7 or 8's which ones would be better?
I wear them for about 20 hrs a week so they need to be comfortable and great quality.
