SHUTUP Windows 10 - Free antispy tool for Windows 10

Makes it easy for everyone to stop all the Windows 10 spyware - thanks O&O.

"O&O ShutUp10 means you have full control over which comfort functions under Windows 10 you wish to use, and you decide when the passing on of your data goes too far.

Using a very simple interface, you decide how Windows 10 should respect your privacy by deciding which unwanted functions should be deactivated.

O&O ShutUp10 is entirely free and does not have to be installed – it can be simply run directly and immediately on your PC. And it will not install or download retrospectively unwanted or unnecessary software, like so many other programs do these days!"

Until you can completely remove all communication of data to Microsoft like you can with Windows 7 I won't be touching Windows 10... Microsoft gold partner.... I wonder what else the software does..

Your choice bud, nobody is forcing (despite MS trying very hard).......

"I wonder what else the software does" - what do you mean? this software is not installed at all, it runs standalone and O&O is a known reputable company!

Prefer the simpler interface of O&O and looks like it has more options. Don't see how one is more secure than the other.

Thanks I've been needing something like this. Does my head in how much Microsoft changes your settings back to annoying as hell mode.

Would assume they are just referring to switching off the windows 10 functions you are not comfortable with.

There are so many of these solutions around and you could do it yourself if you idiots knew how to use powershell. Here, try another solution - does the same job! And the devs are not in bed with M$.

Because using powershell makes you smart.......or most likely able to google......genius.

Why would I bother when I have a simple application that would do the job, unless I'm looking to do across a network and would probably use group policy anyhow.

I think most people appreciate the effort (including me). There are one or two who just like to turn it into a 'mine is better than yours' debate which you should just ignore.

Running stand alone makes no difference. You allow it to run scripts which change settings on your computer. They are a Microsoft partner company. Therefore I would imagine they have agreed with Microsoft what the software will and won't do. Nothing completely turns off the spying. Microsoft will still receive info about programs you run etc. Your shopping habits etc. Personally I'm not cool with that stuff and I'm not cool with Microsoft installing updates without my say so. I'm sure we have all experienced that one update that screws your computer.... Every day turns into a lottery when you boot your computer.

Nice

It's possible to turn off updates completely but not advisable as you know, it's why I've kept them running.

That would be those functions from when I turned my PC on to when I shut down my PC then. What a blessed relief you could upgrade back to Windows 7.

Thanks

Yes you can but as you said that's pretty stupid. Security updates good... Unnecessary driver updates.... Bad... I'm waiting for the targeted popup adverts based on your browsing history to start. I'll be sticking with Windows 7 till 2020 and then migrate to Linux.

I just shut up 10 by using Windows 7…

because you bite back so many times? people are free to their opinion and you could've just ignored it instead of trying to one-up them constantly. If you can't tolerate being trolled, don't feed them.

I'm not that bothered about turning off *everything* as I'm sure it will break things you don't want to break. I stopped the apps I could, p2p uploads over the internet, etc just to speed things up. However if windows occasionally says 'whats up?' to some random anonymous server for a split second every week I'm not bothered.

Unfortunately it's not as simple as sending at "what's up" to a server once a week. If it was, this storm wouldn't have brewed up in the first place because all versions of Windows phone home to some degree.

Windows 10 collects data for virtually every single thing you do on your computer and where you go, even just clicking on Start sends calls to Microsoft and Bing. Exactly how much data it collects, how personal it is and how it's used, Microsoft won't say.

Whether you are OK with that is personal choice, but most users are not happy about the sheer level of it. And you can only reduce it, not turn it off, which is why tools like this exist.

At the end of the day why do people think Microsoft gave everyone the opportunity to upgrade FOC to Windows 10....thats right your personal usage data is more valuable to them than your one off payment for an operating system... Windows 7 is the last Microsoft OS I'll be using. I'm sure I'm not alone in that thought

Never tried it. I'd be interested to know know if it has the same functionality as Windows 7 professional. I had avoided windows 8 due to the childish simplification and unintuitive UI.

Why would you use an operating system in which you have to install third party hacks to get it to function how you want it to?

This is before we even get to all the spying and security vulnerabilities

People are crazy

True. I don't really have an issue with privacy per day but if I can disable features to make the computer work a bit better then it's worth a try.
