Spent the Royal Wedding playing this, any other day that would have seemed like a waste of a time.
daaamn, at a mere 4 quid I may have to finally give this a go
Buy X-Com through Steam and we'll get this free
Great game great price, wish the Gods and Kings expansion was this cheap! Keep an eye on Steam for sales on the other DLC, it can get very cheap (75p per piece of DLC)

The game was released in 2010, I assume he had a pre-release version?

lol, I can tell you CIV5 wouldn't halt anyone's creativity for 3 years.

CIV4 though...that could halt your creativity for a lifetime.

Chalk and cheese those two.

will be buying Civ V from GMG and Gods & Kings from here
I have loved all Civ games right from ver 1 but this one is a step backward imo.
A bit of a dumb question, but how does Civ 4 stack up against Civ 5? I have 4, but I've never played it. Judging by what some have said, 4 is the superior product. Is that correct?

Yes.

Still waiting on a Civ 5 mod that removes all the shallow, broken mechanics and replaces them with proper Civ mechanics.
Prepare to lose hours of your life... I was only playing 10 minutes I swear!

Or buy this for £4 and XCOM through greenman using their current 20% off code making it £24. So £28 for both.

Having said that I'll probably end up just ordering it through steam.

Yep, 100%.

CIV4 Beyond the Sword is vastly superior to CIV5.

Combine CIV4 Beyond the Sword with one of the many free mods available (such as Rise of Mankind:A New Dawn) and you have one of the best games ever.

At the moment, even with the new expansion, CIV5 is still a dumbed down version of CIV.

However, when CIV4 was released initially, it was far from perfect, so CIV5 might get there yet.
Civ IV complete for £4.80 with the same code. A better option IMO.
Alpha centauri is still the better game.
I'd say this is a better deal now:

Worth a bit extra for the game of the year edition.
