Originally created by legendary game designer Sid Meier, Civilization is a turn-based strategy game in which you attempt to build an empire to stand the test of time. Explore a new land, research technology, conquer your enemies, and go head-to-head with history’s most renowned leaders as you attempt to build the greatest civilization the world has ever known.

And now on Nintendo Switch, the quest to victory in Civilization VI can take place wherever, whenever.

Civilization VI for Nintendo Switch includes the latest game updates and improvements and four pieces of additional content which adds four new civilizations, leaders, and scenarios:

  • Vikings Scenario Pack
  • Poland Civilization & Scenario Pack
  • Australia Civilization & Scenario Pack
  • Persia and Macedon Civilization & Scenario Pack

Features:

  • PLAY YOUR WAY: The path to victory is the one you determine. Become the most scientifically advanced civilization, dominate through sheer military power, or become the foremost destination for the cultural arts.
  • THE WORLD’S GREATEST LEADERS: Play as one of 24 different leaders from various countries around the world and throughout history. Build an empire of lucrative trade routes with Cleopatra of Egypt, flex the military might of your legions with Trajan of Rome, or develop a powerhouse of culture with Hojo Tokimune of Japan. Each of the leaders can be played any way you prefer, with unique abilities, units, and infrastructure in their quest for victory.
  • EXPANSIVE EMPIRES: See the marvels of your empire spread across the map. Settle in uncharted lands, improve your surroundings, build new districts, and see your cities – and your civilization – prosper.
  • ACTIVE RESEARCH: Unlock boosts that speed your civilization’s progress through history. To advance more quickly, use your units to actively explore, develop your environment, and discover new cultures.
  • DYNAMIC DIPLOMACY: Interactions with other civilizations change over the course of the game, from primitive first interactions where conflict is a fact of life, to late game alliances and negotiations.
  • EXCITING AND UNIQUE SCENARIOS: Civilization VI for Nintendo Switch includes four playable scenarios, each with a different setting and style of gameplay inspired by history. Be part of the colonization of Australia in “Outback Tycoon,” defend Poland from invaders in “Jadwiga’s Legacy,” choose a Viking leader to conquer Europe in “Vikings, Raiders, and Traders!”, or conquer the known world in the “Conquests of Alexander.”
  • COOPERATIVE AND COMPETITIVE MULTIPLAYER: Up to 4 players can cooperate or compete for supremacy via a wireless LAN.

Great for the base game, but generally speaking the DLC is pretty pricey

Yeah, I'm holding out for a 'Complete' edition at some point. Having played Civ 5 a bunch I know just how much of a difference those DLCs will make.
Shame the base game *and* dlc are on sale in NA - was hoping same here...
Yeah desperately awaiting the DLC to be reduced
this game is so addictive sunk over 100 hours into it in no time.

Technically in at least 4 and a bit days, though I hope not

Pretty good I'd say. I've only played the two civ revolution games, and freeciv on linux before this, but it works very well with the switch controls. I'm utterly garbage at this though. I have a decent chance of winning on deity difficulty on civ rev on the xbox. But I've only won two games of this on the switch, and that was on the easiest difficulty for morons. So I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. It's definitely worth the money I'd say. Plus you get loads of DLC with it

It's a great port,as base game very similar to pc.
I got this really hoping to get hooked into the civ world, but just didn’t happen with me. I loved command and conquer when I was younger but found certain aspects of civ overwhelming.

Get yourself civilization revolution. If you can get it 2nd hand for the xbox one/360 (It's backwards compatible) or ps3. I'm not sure if it's on pc, but I would expect so. Civ vi is a steep learning curve (or so I found), but revolution was really easy to pick up, but will still challenge you as you play the higher difficulty levels. Well worth a few quid 2nd hand. It's been out a good many years now, but I still play it fairly regularly.

Why not just get it from the NA shop then? It's relatively easy to do

I haven’t played a civ game since civ 2 (sunk countless hours into that with a friend) and alpha centauri (which I got bored of), I was wondering if my son would enjoy it but sounds not. Have they just added more bells and whistles and made it too complicated to devise effective strategies?
If your son is young, then I'd guess that it would likely be too difficult for him to get into. If he's nayve mid teens or older, then he may end up liking it. If there's a demo on a console or pc that he can try, then get him to give it a go. But civ rev is much easier to get into

I actually haven't done it from the US yet so can't speak personally about where to buy credit. But the process described in a comment on here should do it
if you have never played a civilisation before would people suggest getting it on thw switch or pc?
