Looks like a very good deal for this 7Kg Siemens washing machine, together with the bonus and peace of mind of a 5 year warranty (via online claim form). This is a clearance deal at John Lewis and was previously priced at £499.

This is a fantastic buy. I have had my Siemens washing machine for seven years now with absolutely no problems. I have stated to my husband many times, I am replacing all white goods in the future with Siemens. So far I have bought the generator iron, I am someone who detests ironing, I would not say it's a pleasure now, it's just not something I dread the way I used to. Go Siemens Go. Highly recommend. you may not say that when you see this,i bought this model when my last siemens machine i had for 20 years finally gave up,this is just plastic rubbish, even the outer drum is made of plastic, feels cheap and will probably only last the 5 year length of the guarantee.really disappointing :(.

Yikes I haven,t looked at washing machines recently. You have just burst my bubble!!!

All modern machines have plastic outer drums don't listen to drivel. There is nothing wrong with plastic if it's engineered well, these machines are tested by running full load max spin for 6 months non stop use so to say they won't last 5 years of domestic use is quite frankly stupid.

I listed a Siemens washing machine a few months ago (completely different model to this) and you posted a similar comment but at that time your sister owned it. It doesn't look like a plastic drum, but why would you buy this if you didn't like your sister's washing machine?

Bought it for the 5 year guarantee, and the fact it was from john lewis.,its a plastic outer tub,in fact think the only manufacturer to do steel ones now are miele

Miele's have always had a great rep, but even an entry level model is over double the price of this machine. Some people can't or don't want to drop that kind of cash on a washing machine.

Great price and the 5 years warranty offer makes it possibly the best buy! If I hadn't bought another one in past year, this would have convinced me to go for it.

If you think about it, Miele could be argued to be a false economy. Not that they won't last - they will. But have you ever seen the inside of a washing machine after even a few years of use. They really are disgusting. I would much rather go with replacing a machine that's a third of the price every few years. Even if you flush them through with proprietary cleaners once a year, they still get gunked up.

It's usually possible to get a half-decent Bosch, Samsung or something like this one in the £250 - £350 bracket and that must be a better economy than dropping a £600 - £1000 on something like a Miele, no matter a 10 year guarantee. What are you going to do - get it repaired after 9 years and think it's like new?

Our Siemens WM is approx 15 years old, I've changed the brushes on the motor once, no other work done. Our Siemens DW has never required a repair though it's only 12 years old. Why do we have such low expectations regarding goods lasting these days? (Rhetorical Q - I know why)
Hats off to JL for providing a 5 year warranty though IMO they're only doing what the SoGA 'requires'.

I bought this from JL back in August and it's a great machine - better than the Bosch machine it replaced ever was. I paid more than this for it and felt I got a good deal back then.

The 5 yr warranty registration went through to Siemens rather than JL. I'm very happy with it so far. If it lasts 5 years, I'll be happy.

Wait till the miele locks up and you have to call an engineer out to reset it. You will be cursing then.

Hi there.

I just noticed your comment - and I thought I might respond as I have a Miele that is 14 years old.

I don't know if you are referring to the drum inside, or the inside of the machine that the drum is contained within.

Usually - and this may be a personal choice - I put my washing INSIDE the drum.

That said - not only does the drum look immaculate - the machine is very clean internally.

There is none of this mysterious "gunk" of which you speak.

Would you like a photograph?

Regards.

Siemens fridges are basically rebadged Bosch (or the other way round) with minimal changes to the aesthetics, however they come with a 5yr warranty...... I wonder if its the same with washing machines

Bosch and Siemens machines are pretty much identical in every way except for the aesthetics. Great that it's better than your old one, but it's still a Bosch machine on the inside.

@JamesSmith: I've got to ask - where else except inside the drum would you put your washing?

Bosch and Siemens jointly own the division responsible for home appliances and the manufacturing facilities. The company scores badly on ethics. Not as bad as Samsung though.

I bought the 1200RPM version of this machine. It's worked well for me, and doesn't use a lot of electricity (I have an electricity monitor) except on the highest spin, which doesn't last for that long.

My favourite thing about it is how clean it is. I usually use the 40 degrees Mixed fabrics cycle, which is only 1 hour. It also has a timer so you can make the laundry washing kick in later.

Other than that there's not much bells and whistles...

You can tell that this is a rebadged Bosch - Looks almost identical on the outside to some of the current mid-range Bosch machines.
Seems a good deal to me, especially with the 5 year warranty and peace of mind knowing that Siemens/Bosch machines are generally reliable.

I was looking for a Bosch to replace my now broken 10 year old Bosch. Seems Bosch only offer 2 years and the Siemens variant offer 5 years. I will take a closer look. Thanks Op

I HAD A siemans washing machine wm14q390gb which i bought from john lewis that only lasted 21 months....developed fault ;ast week...engineer came around today & authorised replacement machine...called john lewis & they cannot replace as no longer selling that model...said i could pick another machine up to value of original machine...so i am going for this one...and means a 100 refund as its cheaper than the original one...
taking my chances with siemans again

This Bosch one is £60 cheaper but the Siemens has a faster spin speed & longer warranty. Worth paying the extra? Decisions, decisions....

My local JL had a few bargains which were customer returns/ damaged and repaired washing machines. which still comes with 2 year full warranty. so may be worth having a look at your local store.

If people are interested in a long warranty they could always wander down to Ikea - where most of the appliances have a 5 year warranty. I've had an Ikea dishwasher for 4 years now and it hasn't missed a beat (yet!) - granted, other customers may have had a different experience.

Siemens Washing Machine? That's what Monica Lewinsky needed...

That's my washing machine sorted, any tumble dryer deals to go with this?

I doubt any of the current Siemens shareholders voted for H*tler in the 1930s, so we can hardly hold the current Siemens company accountable.
I doubt many people bother about such things. After all, H*tler invented the Volkswagen brand and there are loads of people driving them.

Hot with a 5year parts and labour warranty. Have similar older model and no real problems does what it says on tin with no frills!
Also have Siemens dishwasher and f/freezer
