would buy LG as more efficient.

I've a better hotdeal.

Save energy and purchase price of £354, hang your washing out...... FOR FREE!

or try freecycling

I have to add that my Zanussi condenser has been fantastic. I'm only on my 2nd in 17 years, this one is 10 years old. Wasn't expensive either.

I'm not sure if I managed to bag it before white goods started to become disposable, or whether they're still as great these days mind you...

Good deal with trade in. Got ours a few years ago and its running perfectly

Bit steep for a drier

I just bought an Indesit 8kg condenser dryer (great machine, this is the second one I have had) from Very catalogue, £199 plus £60 for 4 year warranty, plus £5 for disposal of old machine which is uplifted at the same time. Total £264 and delivered within 3 days direct by Hotpoint. Also on 9 month buy-now-pay-later if that's of interest, at no extra cost.

For £90 less I would rather go for that, especially as it's an 8kg capacity rather than 7, the only thing to remember is that the warranty is 4 years, not 5.

For some things that's fine, especially things which might shrink in the dryer or don't tumble well. However, for everything else I would always choose to tumble. Towels feel awful if they are not tumble dried, no matter how they are washed. Little things such as socks and underwear feel nicer tumbled, and it is so much quicker. Things like bedding seem much nicer and also cleaner (if you look at the filter after drying, just see how much debris is caught with the fluff). Also, for people with pollen allergies, drying outside is a no-no. As for fluffy things like dressing gowns and fluffy blankets - no comparison!

I don't care where it's made - my main concern is that it dries efficiently, is easy to use, and I like the way it looks. I usually replace appliances after the 4 or 5 year warranty runs out, so at the first malfunction after that they are replaced.

Wrong!

My oven, micro/oven combo and dishwasher have just run out of their 2yr warranty.

Got the renewals through yesterday. I think not!

I bought Siemens stuff as well and its bullet proof, more like Miele than Zanussi / In-do-shi.t. I can confirm that it also came with a 5 year warranty as standard.

This is my second....the first was 6 years old at the time of renewal, and we only had one problem with it in all that time (the pump stopped working but it was repaired under the 5 year warranty). When the drum stopped turning a week or two ago it may just have been the belt but we decided it was time to replace. I use my dryer every day so I think the last one did very well. My daughter's machine (the same one) is 3 years old and is worked into the ground as she has 3 small children, and not one problem yet.
I like Indesit.

siemens have 2 years as standard only certain special offers of 5 years like this every so often.

you get what you pay for, have had hotpoint before and Indesit and they don't last

We bought all hotpoint, same company as indesit with a new kitchen, dishwashers was replaced not even repaired by indesit second flooded the kitchen after 4 weeks, engineer came fixed it and same thing happened, in the end gave up on it and got a Siemens, hasn't missed a beat. Washer was always breaking and happened so often the guy was fixing it monthly, the screws that hold the concrete brick snapped and indesit said it wasn't a warranty repair, bought an extended warranty from them and at the end of the first year they said either we paid them over £300 or they wouldn't insure it because you guessed it was costing them so much money. Their fridge well give them their dues never had the engineer out for that but had to replace the salad tray once and the milk shelfs 3 times because the plastic was so poor. Never again, pay slightly more and get something of quality, when you research indesit you find so many complains but they just don't care

It sounds like you have been very unlucky. We are pretty well a Hotpoint and Indesit family (myself, my daughter, my mum and other relatives), hardly ever buying any other brand and nobody has had a bad experience yet. I will bear in mind what you said about Siemens though, it might be worth trying at some point.

When we moved into our house the previous occupiers had left an almost new Candy washing machine. The receipt was there and it was a very cheap machine. It was a brand I would never have bought, yet it was a brilliant and trouble-free machine! Never say never!
