Credit has to go to Farkison for posting the original Canon deal on this lens.

Nikon are usually marked up by at least £50 more than the Canon fit equivalent lens in Jessops, so this for the same price is a great price for a great lens.

Retails for around £210 upwards from what I have found for it, and have been looking for a while, almost plumped for the 18-200mm posted last week for £89.00, but upon going to Jessops to check they wanted £149.00 for that at the time anyway.

Seems to be collect in store only (at least for my area) but have found stock in at least three separate stores checking online then calling the store to make sure, so it is out there, just maybe try the "check stores further away" option if the postcode you enter doesn't prove successful.

Also Quidco too (if reserved online I guess) bringing the price down to £143.27

Very cheap price - but I don't think that this lens will auto focus with the modern Nikon consumer DSLRs e.g. D40/D60/D5000/D3000.

In any case the 6.3 telephoto aperture means that it will only focus in bright sunlight. Reviews are not encouraging.

If you want a longer lens on a budget for these cameras buy the old Nikon 55-200 (non VR). Jessops have one in Birmingham (nasty silver finish) for £79.97!

Why the cold votes?! Cheers peeps. The Canon deal gets heat and this gets nothing?

Jessops in Harrow had this lens this in stock when I visited this afternoon, for anyone who wants to buy one - I didn't get it as I'd already bought the 18-200mm OS version which is a much better lens.
