Signalex USB car charger - Poundland

Found 1st Dec 2012
Wandering round Poundland today looking for stocking fillers and came across this USB car charger.

Available in black or pink, guessing this is nationwide as Signalex is Poundlands own brand.

Will state this was only 500mA rating so it will charge all your devices but if you have a power hungry device i.e. a phone running a satnav app using gps, it may not 'charge' while in use but should keep it at a steady power level.

be warned these are not powerful enough for phones like the blackberry, these chargers are only 500mA, for phones like the blackberry you need 1A charger sockets...

I always found that a 500mA will charge my HTC Sensation fine as long as the GPS isn't running, if I need it to charge while using gps I need a 1mA unit (which I have) but as a spare for the wife's car I thought it was a bargain :o)
Good find, but beware of the 0.5A limit. I'd guess they don't have a voltage limiting circuit - potentially sending out a voltage damaging equipment.
These are great thanks for reming me about these, I brought one last week however it was a white one and I wanted two blacks ones. Beware the red LED's are very bright when driving haha
Db72,
Your a bit wrong on your electrical theory there. Your talking about current (Amperes) and then you talk about voltage damaging equipment. This wont damage anything and will only output 5V (the standard for USB power).

I bought one of these and they don't power iPhone4S.

I genuinely think either these things don't work or have been wired wrong as 500mA should be enough to charge a phone.

Something you should pick up in pound land though is the 4 way USB lead. MicroUSB, miniUSB, Nokia and Apple 20 pin connector all on 1 USB plug for £1. They're awesome.
These WONT charge any of the iPhones as they need 1A charger, thus thing only outputs 500mA (half an Amp)
There is a dual USB version in Poundland as well that is rated at 1A. I use mine with a retractable cable also from Poundland
there is a very bright red led that's comes on when plug in , very annoying
