My favorite is Inní mér syngur vitleysingur" (Within Me a Lunatic Sings)

I think all of the tracks are available on Spotify.

i saw an interview with the band once, think it was the culture show, and im sure i remember the main guy explaining that the lyrics aren't real words, they're all just emotive to fit the music they play, very cool if thats right, will defo get this...

They call the the made up stuff 'Hopelandic'. It's a kind of secret language, although I don't think it actually means anything in particular and the idea is the listener takes whatever meaning they like from the music and words. The untitled album is entirely sung like this (I think) and the other albums have it interspersed throughout.

I love this band with a passion, some of the most beautiful music ever.

Hot deal just wish I didn't already have all their albums so I could discover this band again.

That'd be refering to the "hopelandic" language they used in "( )." Generally they sing in Icelandic but the effect is exactly the same.

Sigur Rós are an amazing band, this'll be a great introduction to their music, though (as posted) you'll recognise a few.

Hot.

I got into this band before Christmas, and they are amazing. I got a bit obsessed and collected 6 of their CD's over the period of about a month. Although I recommend that everyone buys this, I recommend that you buy one of their other albums (consider Agaetis Byrjun and Takk... above the rest) and listen to it as a whole.

Hoppipola is a brilliant song. Can't say I've listened to any of their albums, so I may just get this. Heat added.

Stunning band.

Seen them live in 2006. Absolutely blew me away. Simply phenomenal.

Your right on the money there mate. These albums aren't about the individual tracks but as you said the experience as a whole, the way each song sort of leads on to or compliments the next.

Just checked the website as well and it seems Sæglópur is one of the tracks on the Independent album. If people have heard Hoppipolla and think that song is good then Sæglópur will absolutely amaze you. That part where it all comes together with the piano and drums always gives me goosebumps, anyone who has heard it will no what I mean.

Excellent introduction.

Seeing them live is an awe inspiring experience. My friend did not know them at all when we saw them at a festival last year, but burst into tears half way through.

The new album is as good as anything that they have done. The title track is the first song they have done that makes you really want to dance, and Ara Batur of the new album is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard.
