Currently in the market for a new mattress. Can anyone confirm if this good?
These are an excellent price but they are not firm they are solid we tried to get used to it and couldn’t get a 4inch memory foam topper and woke up sore every night. after 10 months was talking to one if the Costco staff who said they would take it back under their satisfaction guarantee, they did no problem, easy phone call to their US based online customer service team and all sorted. Was speaking to a friend who got theirs delivered at the same time and they said the same they were walking aching and just got back from a holiday where they didn’t ache they have just returned theirs.

they weren't the last time when we got ours and because they use different names in all bed shops its difficult to try them. I also tried to write a review but that's locked down as well Customer service is great though so you can send it back, we bought one of the geltex ones to replace it got it from Costco as well and coordinated the return process so they dropped off and picked up on the same day, now have a perfect night sleep but it was double the price unfortunately

The kingsize is available with a 4 drawer divan bed for £400 delivered. They also take away your old bed.
Do not buy a hard mattress - life is too short.
I think this guy is right - just in the 1st para. stlbeds.com/har…ss/
A few of his "solutions" are "don't use it" type answers.
Cheap silentnight mattresses are not very good at all.

Edit - just looked at best mattress linked above and they seem to agree on avoiding ortho mattress.

This is only a 780 (very low) spring mattress, look for a high spring count when looking for a mattress! You spend half your life in a bed so don't scrimp!
Plus Costco membership!
It's an open coil / cage sprung mattress. Silentnight just brand their open coil rubbish as 'Miracoil.'

Open coil means a single sheet of coiled wire, so the support will not be uniform (it will be softer in the middle of the sheet and progressively harder towards the sides), any movement on any part will ripple everywhere on the sheet, and they simply won't last due to the lack of uniform support. Think about a fold-out sofa bed or guest bed: that is open coil. Do you really want that for your main bed you sleep in every night?

There's no reason to buy an open coil mattress when there are cheap pocket sprung models for £200 (e.g Silentnight Pocket Essentials 1000 double can be bought for £211; it's fairly firm for someone of average weight, so you can add a topper to make it softer if needed. I'm sure there are many other pocket sprung polyester single-sided mattresses around this price point).

Depends on your weight and the gauge of the springs.

If you're of modest weight, you don't need 1500+ springs. By the same token, you can have 4000 springs of a very thin gauge and that will offer nowhere near the support of a mattress of a thicker gauge.

There is no uniform 'soft,' 'medium,' 'firm': it depends on what you weigh relative to the spring count and gauge.

I agree about the weight, if you are lightweight i'm sure you can get away with a cheaper mattress, but if you are very heavy you may need a 1000 pound john Lewis mattress, which are stuffed with springs and quality filling and weigh a ton
i'm looking to get a double pocket sprung mattress, john lewis do a 3000 pocket sprung for 500, which is very comfortable and comes in firm which i prefer.
In past i keep buying cheap ones, but i am never really happy with them. Avoid foam they get hot.

We ordered this same mattress from Costco and are very happy with it. We had an Ikea latex mattress before that which felt quite a bit softer so it would seem to be firm but feels supportive rather than hard. Hope that helps.
I was told by someone who works in the industry to, as a rule, avoid brands like Silentnight, because the quality is generally poor for what you pay. The mark-up on beds is huge (same with things like sofas and jewellery) and it pays to do your homework and understand the different technologies, for want of a better word).

I bought a John Lewis mattress years ago, when it was on a deal listed on here. I think it's 2000 pocket springs and it's been OK. Not outstanding, but OK.

I reckon this mattress would be OK for occasional use, maybe a guest bed.
We just purchased the Grandeur made by staples exclusive to Benson for beds, currently waiting for delivery.

Let me tell you, the mattress we have now is cra* had it over 12 years and never really liked it. The Grandeur mattress was expensive but pro rata over the 10 years you're meant to have one it isn't that bad.

I suffer from lower back pain so hopefully this does the trick. So what price can you put on comfortability and your health? Non. You have it 10 years +, don't skimp, and that doesn't mean get the highest cost one, as we tried the priceiest one and it wasn't for us, but don't go for cheap just because it's cheap.
There's a huge saving on a pocket sprung mattress I've seen on tesco too! (Silentnight) saving over £500!.. take a look! tesco.com/dir…763
Got a miracoil from argos. Was too noisy. Had to get a refund
While I haven’t got one of these, I haven’t heard good things about miracoil so worth doing some reading about the type of mattress first
Slept on this mattress last night for the first time and it gave me back ache, could be because I’m a side sleeper, so will be returning it.
Any guide in terms of the pocket Spring I need? 2 of us, about 80kg each, sometimes plus 35kg for the child. Any good recommendation?

we used to have these they were OK but over long term its no good imo. would use for a guest room as i suppose it would be OK for sparse use
I went through 4 mattresses in 4 years. Standard one, memory foam (like sleeping in an oven, horrendous), John Ryan 1k job (too soft and too hot), the Hypnos hotel mattress (I like a firm bed but that was rock hard). In the end, after much expense, we tried a Simba like the link above suggests is the best mattress. It's a little firm on side sleeping, perfect for back sleeping. We gave it the 100 day trial and kept it.

Mattress is a personal choice and you spend a long time in it, don't rely on others opinions when your sleep is at stake.
people commented SIMBA is a great mattress, except that it is really warm, bad for the summer. Is that true? I have a bad back and have trouble to sleep at nights, need something to ease the pain and sleep easily on it.
Not sure about this mattress, seems a good price though. We just got the EVE delivered from the Amazon Boxing Day sale @£400, would certainly recommend it.
Simba isn't too hot, nothing like the memory foam ones, they are horrendous.
Anyone got theirs delivered and would like to comment? Ours is being delivered on the 28th.
Returning mines it was too firm
Great mattress, firm and very comfortable. Highly recommended.
