you are very right, apologies I missed that - could an admin add the info please?

In store in Carrickfergus on Wed. Anyone tried these? any good?

I look at these and wonder what happened to Stereo??? so many DAB radios's ,iphones etc all come with a single speaker.
Perhaps I am too much of an 80's child when stereo ghetto blasters were in and mono out.

Yes this is multi speaker , but will you get channel separation.

Decent for the price, useful for bedroom etc... 3 year manufacturer's warranty. Heat added.

Yes, if you turn your head sideways.

is it rechargeable?

It doesn't say rechargeable, therefore I assume you plug it into the mains 13amp socket. Looks good to me, 10 watts per channel should be good for most small rooms. And going by the picture and the overall diameter of 20mm the woofers look to be about 12mm diameter, so large car speaker size.

anyone bought this yet then?

Bought one Monday. Only used it for a short while but here's my comments:-
It is mains powered (no batteries) uses separate wall transformer for the 12V 2 Amp required. Plugs into the base at the rear of Tower. 1.5m of low voltage cable.
Tower Construction: Appears to be thick cardboard tube glued to wooden base. Plastic top ring and display. Quite solid but fairly light - Weighs 2.77Kg. Audio inputs of 1 x 3.5mm Jack & 2 RCA connectors on rear of top display. Display is blue backlit LCD showing the mode (Blue / Aux) and tiny blu-tooth icon when paired with device. Shows volume level when volume pressed - range 0 to 15 max.
Pairing was easy with my tablet - no problems. Can only connect to one device at a time (usual for Blu-tooth). Haven't yet paired with another device.
Speakers: There are 4. The six apertures are from top to bottom - 1 Tweeter, 2 Woofer, 3 Air Port. and the same for the lower 3. Driver size :- c40mm / c90mm. Probably 2 or 4 Ohms. Covered with fine steel black painted mesh.

Quality: Not bad for the price. Looks smart and imposing. Sound is fine for a small room, a very bright but clear high end sound. Bass is not particularly loud and some tweaking with a Graphics equaliser is required to boost the bass to a more rounded sound. Stereo separation is obviously limited and vertical. Volume good for a small room (2mx3m) but not for loud parties. I had volume at 3/4 on my Android tablet and at 10 on the Tower. This was well loud enough.

Worth the money? Yes for me as all I wanted was a speaker for my Home/Office room to listen to background music whilst working. HiFi - definitely not but what did you expect! Better sound out of this than any of my small 32inch Flat Panel TV's so if you wanted enhanced TV listening this might be the ticket.

Hope that helps.

thanks. nice minireview. still in two minds about it. i will need to be able to beam music to it from a number of different devices (well, 2 at least) so it would be a massive pain if it couldnt remember the pairing of more than 1 device. is it possible for you to check that please?

Ok, tried it out just now. Inconclusive results. The instruction manual says it will reconnect to the last device connected, which it did fine. It remembered the pairing with my Tablet (even having been unplugged for 24 hrs). But it won't pair with my Android Phone (New Moto G 2nd Gen). My phone simply does not see it at all. I un-paired the Tower from Tablet and tried again, no luck. I then dug out my only other blu-tooth device (an 8 year old Mitac PDA) and this paired with the Tower no problem, but would not stream music. I think that it is my PDA (running the archaic windows Mobile 5 operating system) that is at fault on this. So my tests are Inconclusive. I will try it out again tomorrow with a friends Tablet and see if the problem is limited to my phone or wider. But in theory the Tower should be able to pair and work with more than one device, isn't that a Blu-Tooth standard in any case?

Played with the Tablets Equaliser and putting it on Rock does increase the bass output quite a lot. Sounds a lot better on this setting.

Also I forgot to mention the Remote Control. It works fine, including skip track to next etc. One thing though, because the IR receiver on the Tower is set back on the top, angled at 45% backwards/upwards the line of sight for the remote was a bit hit and miss from the front lower down. I simply bounced the signal off the ceiling - it works from 10 feet away like that fine.

awesome. many thanks for this. might go and check out out and take it back if it doesnt do what i need it to .

Just tried to set this up via Bluetooth and can't seem to find the Bluetooth speaker at all, I've tried 3 separate phone all of different make and am having the same results
any ideas?

Paired this up to the tablet no problem, but cannot pair it to the TV. May be due to only being able to pair with one device at a time (as per previous comments, thanks MarkOmega!) so may try again now that I know this. However, in the meantime, I bought a cable to connect it via the 3mm jack to the headphone socket on TV which works great except that it (speaker) keeps switching itself off after a while..... Frustrating!! Hubby is the technoman so I'm waiting for him to have a look at this - any suggestions welcome
We already have another soundbar (also connected to the TV headphone socket, via a splitter). So we now have one each side of the room which gives great sound overall.

Hi again,
Sorry for the delay, had to borrow a tablet and phone. Results:- Yes the Tower speaker will pair to multiple devices. I paired it with a Tesco Hudl2 tablet and a Samsung Java based phone no problems. I found you don't need to un-pair it from the first device, it seems to be able to pair with multiple devices. Tip, if you have been playing music using a device, best to turn off the tower, turn on again to pair it with another.
My Moto phone still refuses to even see the Tower, no matter what I do. I do not understand this as Blu-Tooth is required to comply with the standard across all devices. Must be "something in the pathways". I will contact Motorola to see if they have a solution, but beware some devices might be temperamental. Might explain why Biker_Chick is having problems with her TV.

(Technology aside, Biker_Chick I'm a biker too. Yamaha FJ1200 - what's your's?)

MarkOmega: Even though the speaker is connected by wire? We timed it the other night, it went off after 20 mins then 15 mins then 15 mins...... Took it back. The guys in the shop had no explanation (we were wondering if there was an eco-mode or something) and so gave us another one. It does the same thing
If it makes any difference, the TV is a Samsung Smart TV.
Would be amazing if you can figure out a solution Doing my head in!

(FJ1200.... Nice!! My little workhorse is a Yamaha SR125..... Love her!!!! My fairweather ride is a Honda VT750 Shadow Black Spirit.... Love her!!!! Hubby has Shadow Black Spirit too )

Biker_Chic, I have tested my Tower and ran it for an hour and a half (at Volume 10 of 15) with no problems. Sounds like your power supply/transformer might have overheated and cut out. Did you notice if it gets warm or hot to the touch, mine was still cool to the touch after 1½ hours. Might be a bad batch, or something was cutting out in the top panel. My top panel got only slightly warm.

As to the TV, I have a Samsung Smart TV too, and cannot connect the Tower either. I think this is the TV - Samsung seem to allow their Smart Remote, other keyboards and mice to connect by Blu-Tooth and their "own brand" audio devices but not much else - the TV certainly would not scan or see my Tower. See below for the instructions from my Samsung TV, this might help you.

"Samsung Audio Device Connection

(VT750 nice custom/cruiser style. A friend of mine had the SR125 and used it as a despatch riders bike in London for a few years - solid and reliable. My first was a Honda CM125 Custom - traded that in for a CX650 Turbo!:))

Just bought this and we're having the same problem with it shutting off every 15 minutes. Has anyone got a solution?

Hey Rob,
If you find a solution can you please, please, please ensure you report back here?
I haven't had chance to test it again since MarkOmega posted yesterdays info, but I find it interesting that you also have the same problem... Can you tell me what device you are trying to use it with and how you have it connected? Just wondering if we can find any similarities in our setups, maybe we can work out a common ground thus find the problem?????? Its ever so frustrating! Thanks

Hi still trying to work this site out sorry for copying your comment.
Done a few tests and managed to get the speaker to stay on twice. Bearing in mind we have only tried the aux phono input and not the Bluetooth.
Turn the unit on with the remote control and still using the remote control switch it from aux to Bluetooth and back again to aux. Done this twice and unit has stayed on.
If you just turn it on with the remote or the buttons on the unit and switch it to aux with the buttons on the unit, it turns off after 15 minutes.
Let us know how you get on!

Hi Rob, Have just switched it on like you said, now waiting to see what happens.......
I shall report back soon, tho hopefully not too soon...... All things crossed......

Cant wait !!
If you're interested, just sold my VT750 s and got a Buell Ulysses : )
Just tested it on the Bluetooth using the controls on the speaker and it stayed on, work that out !
BTW LG TV using the headphone socket, forgot to say.
Good luck.

Nope
Tried twice and it went off at 15 mins both times ..........
It will be flying out the window very soon!!!! Grrrrrrrr........

(Buell Ulysses - had to google that one... Looks nice but quite high, I'd need ladders to get on that! Bit of a change from the shadow isn't it? )

MarkOmega: both the top panel and transformer are cool. The whole speaker is too. I will show hubby the Samsung instructions you gave, see if they're the same as ours. I will let you know.

Hi again, Just tried ours again this morning but results from yesterday not repeatable! Fed up and took it back to Lidl for a refund.
Now looking for something similar.

Don't blame you Rob. Hubby managed to fiddle with TV settings this morning. We got quite excited when the speaker stayed on for 45+ minutes (nearer an hour to be honest). Made the mistake of turning our backs on it. Came back half hour later and it was off Not had chance to look at it again since then. But at least we can watch (hear) about 2/3 of a standard film!!! Nah, seriously, we too are thinking about looking elsewhere for something. Shame. I cant find one that looks as nice as this one! (definitely not as cheap either - cheapest I can find is £80). Still, its a waste of £40 if it doesn't stay on eh? Will be interested to hear what you find, if you're allowed to say on here????

Yes we are disappointed too as we liked the sound and look of the speaker.
when we find something else will update here. like you, nothing that looks as good as this one yet !!

Got really excited this afternoon. It stayed on for over 3 hours - next thing we knew, it had gone off! Grrrr, its going back. Had enough. Won't trust it now anyway, too tempramental. Shame.

Such a shame you had to return yours rob2015 and Biker_Chick. I must have got a "good un". I had so far only used Blu-Tooth, but found a 3.5mm lead and am using it now through the Aux input from my I-pod trying to replicate the shutting off problem. Turned it on and switched to Aux using the top panel and played away. It's still on after an hour. Will let it run for a few hours and report back if it turns itself off.

I agree Biker_Chick, can't get a decent one of similar size etc. for under £80, I looked too. I don't mean to gloat but I am quite enjoying mine at the moment, sounds better direct through I-pod than Blu-Tooth but that's Blu-Tooth for you, not enough bandwidth really!

Biker_Chic did you get it paired with the TV? If so how? I must try mine again.

(Buell? Aren't they owned by Hardly-Movingstone? X). Went to Daytona Bike Week Florida in 2006, and nearly all the 500,000 bikes there were H-D's. A few rice burners only, mostly Hayabusa's with souped up engines!!)

To be perfectly honest MarkO, we didn't bother trying again. When hubby got it to stay on this morning, we thought he'd cracked it. But when it went off after an hour, then again this afternoon at 3+ hours, we gave up. The wretched thing has had its chance! Its going back. I'm looking at one that has built-in radio. Touch expensive but solves what to get hubby for Valentines/Anniversary pressie He's a gadgetman so he'll love it, plus I like to put the radio on when he's out so suits me too!!!!!! Will let you know if I get it. I must thank you, and Rob, for all your help tho and Im glad you're enjoying yours

(OMG, you've done Daytona!!!!!!! Hubby would have been in heaven with all those HDs!!! A friend of ours calls them "Noisey Gas Guzzlers" LOL!!! Yes they look nice, but can't say I'd want one - expensive "look at me" bikes..... Eughhhh!!!!! .......... Hardly-Movingstones LMAO!!!!!!!! )

Up-date: Been running for just over 4 hours now, no problems.

(Yes Daytona was great fun. Met some members of the "Chicago Outlaws" MC in a bar one night, that was fun too, drinking beer (well Budweiser if you can call it beer) and smoking. Got a picture of their colours too. They drove a Harley through the bar and onto the porch so I could sit on it!!)

Purchased yesterday, set up on my imac, set up to play through internal and bluetooth speakers, good value, dont place bluetooth speakers close to mac, you may get a slight buzzing.

Quick update looked around at the competition and decided to try a second one from lidl....did the same thing so took it straight back shame. Biker chick hope you get sorted out (if I can say that) ! And mark, you must be plain lucky

Yeah, we took the second one back too Rob. Bought a Lenco BTT1 from Superfi (available on ebay with free postage, but I got it through Tesco and paid the postage as it would be easier to take back if there's any problems!) Great news so far.... Sounds great, hubby loves it (valentines/anniversary pressie for him) and above all it stays on!!! Yes really, a speaker that likes the sound of its own voice LOL!!!!!!!! Love it Not really looked at the radio yet (other than to make sure it works) and not tried the USB port yet either, but still many steps ahead of the Lidls tower already in just a few hours Thus far, I'd recommend it

Interestingly though, it wouldn't pair to the TV via Bluetooth. So MarkO, yes I guess that's Samsung for you.

With powerful 2 x 10 watt output so 20 watt ? or 4 watt because it says 2x2 W RMS I'm really bad about these things but i want to know what is the actuall sound 4 or more W.

Nowhere that I can see do the Specs say 2x2W RMS, where do you get that from?
It clearly states 2x10 Watts. This is likely to be (peak) music power not RMS. The rough rule of thumb for stereo equipment in general (to take account of over stated advertising claims) was that RMS could be estimated as about 0.70% of peak music power, however the calculations are very complicated and variable depending on what you are measuring.
The power input of this speaker is 24 W electrical DC. So 2x10 W output electrical seems about right.
