I got a similarly looking Russell Hobbs from Saintsbury's a few weeks ago that does the same for less. Can't see how this is a good price for a budget brand.

do you have a link to yours? this seems very high spec. with fan oven and grill not many have both.

have found silvercrest stuff to be quite decent. I'd say Russell Hobbs is more of a budget brand on past experience.

Can't fault the one I got. Convection is very fast at warming up, quicker than our oven tbh and the microwave is very quiet and efficient.

Yeah I just noticed that. TBH I couldn't believe it was less than £80 when I bought it, read the reviews on Saintsbury's site. Even at £100 I'd still say it is a bargain.

Just out of interest, did the Russel Hobbs one come with 3 years warranty?

I have one of these. Works well enough and comes with a 3 year warranty. Max temp of the convection oven is 200c but as its a fan oven haven't found the 200c limit a problem. The only gripe I have about it is that its quite noisy.....

Lidl usually sell these for £80 but I would be tempted to wait and see if a £5 off a £40 spend voucher appears in a newspaper soon and then get one....In my local store it was several weeks before they sold out.

true true.

HOT because microwaves with stainless steel interiors are always built better. Usually they're only available from Sanyo (rare) and Panasonic's high end range (hundreds of ££), with a few exceptions from the other brand names.

Anyone saying Silvercrest is a budget brand is missing the point. Russell Hobbs, Breville, Hitachi, Sharp and all the usual names come from a couple of factories and have many interchangeable parts, even Panasonic are now branding these run of the mill products for their low end range. All the Silvercrest stuff I have seen and bought are definitely built to a high standard, so they may have budget prices but they're good kit.

Can't comment on this product however other products that i have seen previously instore seem to be of a low quality than other brands. Theres no denying that its a reasonable price for a budget brand but lets get real and stop with the nonsense.

I couldn't disagree more. I've seen a couple of cheap looking (white plastic) Silvercrest products but the majority are built better than equivalents double their price.

I had a 7 year old Russel Hobbs Kettle which I really liked because it fits under my tap. It stopped working. I wrote to them and asked them if there was any way to fix it. There wasn't, but they gave me 50% off a brand new one. I thought that was pretty good customer service for something that was 5 years out of warranty.

How come?

Just picked one up - looks well made for the price and lots of useful functions
The 3yr warranty is a bonus

I got this yesterday and can say I'm really impressed. It has a much higher quality finish than I had expected. It doesn't have that 'plasticy' feel a lot of them have. The blue light display looks really nice too and stays on permanently to show the clock. I'd say you'd be looking to spend over £100 to get one this nice. The functions are very good too. The grill is top and bottom.

Only downsides have been the top and sides are brushed aluminium and seem like they mark and scratch easily, but no major deal. Also mine was making a few squeaking sounds while the turntable span around which may go over time.

All in all I would recommend this Microwave.
