Being a Keen Mountain biker , personally I would not trust this bike for anything other than light used- on bridal Paths canal tow paths etc ..

It may appear to be a good bike , but I can see the Components are very bottom line and you would be better off buying a Front Suspension only bike as this will be harsh ...

There are many bikes available in this price range i would suggest getting a 2nd hand Trek, Specialized Carrera, Giant etc for the same money ..

Im afraid its often a case of what glitters is always Gold.

I have seen many similar bikes like this fail and cause injuries , so if you go for this type of bike dont expect to ride the rough stuff and survive without some sort of mishap..

I have two mountain bikes and two road bikes and I started off with a £250 full suspension Saracen i saw sense and took it back after 6 days and got a real bike..

Id say good for Messing about on but not anything special .. Ill find a budget bike and report back

thanks for the info, Im looking for a lightweight bike for my son to ride to work on, at around the £100 mark, any ideas what to go for?

The problem is the lighter they get the more expensive the components are , but for a good town bike that could be ok on less demanding light weight trails .. look at this a bit more than the £100 , but a good deal ..

But you're a bike freak! And no one wants to spend over £200 on a bike unless they are a biker. And it's not like you're going to use it for mountain biking

Rubbish bike...

The problem with Cheap dual suspension bikes

They bob up and down when power is applied , and this really is not very productive , or the back only moves when it hits something hard like riding off a curb ..

I would say to everyone in this price range get a front suspension bike , not saying that all cheap bikes are bad , but if you want something that will be trust worthy after hundreds of miles riding usually cheap old heavy dual suspension bikes should be avoided ..

Sometimes you do get what you pay for ..

We have three cheap Halfords bikes in my shed for the Children , they are ok and do what we want , they were very cheap at the time but as I say they do the job we need them for but you can see the quality isn't there ..

I would like to add I haven't voted this hot or cold because its probably a good deal for some , but the price isn't the best i have seen in recent months for this level of bike..

No way mistake this bike as being light !!

voted cold.

The Dawes bike is much better value. But if you can't stretch to that much then this steel frame hardtail would probably be better quality & value imho.

This bike is **** :w00t:

go for a specialized rockhopper i got one again for a little while very nippy but always a bike which people wana steal thats the bad thing .:?

LOL , right and what do Teens do on bikes ? just ride around gently ? no they like to jump over ramps and show off ..

I can vouch that it ain't very nice when your forks snap at speed .. These bikes are made to look nice so most people assume as they look good they are good , but hard facts would probably reveal that this bike was never designed and developed it was drawn and put together and shipped out on sale within a few days at most ..

Its a Lada by comparison and 99% of owners bought it not because they like Lada cars but because they couldnt afford that Escort or Astra ..

And if you wanted a bike just for town to town riding on roads , a rigid is good enough , dont need suspension for that

I have to agree with what Kurvz is saying.

A few months back, I wanted to get back into cycling and bought a Shockwave from Halfords, but it went back to the shop the following day.
It seemed to be badly made, had horrible squeeky plastic brake pads, and was tediously heavy.
A week later, I'd been into a proper bike shop, tried lots out, and came out with a Trek. The difference in quality is well worth the difference in price, in my opinion.

Any bike enthusiast will rubbish a bike like the one on offer here, but you certainly do get what you pay for.

thanks for all the advice, I think i'll see if theres a halfords around here and send him in to test them out, as its different seeing them on line to in the flesh as it were and that one at under £100 seems like a good deal

Well mine seem fine silverfox fs26. stop moaning u lot
