Firstly, these won't be suitable for outdoor use unless it is a VERY calm day, my 4 channel chopper is quoted as 'indoor and light outdoor' but I've yet to have it stay in a straight line even on what I thought was completely still wind. These sized helicopters usually run for between five and ten minutes on a single charge, enough to do someone or something some decent damage!

As for the number of channels, each channel effectively gives you a 'dimension' to travel. So for example a car needs two channels (one for forward/backward, one for left/right). Aeroplanes need at least 3 (speed, left/right, up/down), helicopters should use at least 4 for basic motion, and up to six for the clever acrobatic stuff.

For a helicopter to only have a 2 channel control means that there is a compromise somewhere, for example as spamjavelin says the ability to steer might have been excluded. Or you need some clever use of the 2 controls to get it to turn.

Of course, the more channels the harder it is to control, so these are great for kids. And for just over a tenner it's a bargain.

Ordered, thanks

Although double the price of this deal, you'd be hard pushed to beat this for the price.

Its an amazon link, so I'm not sure if that's allowed ? In case it gets editted out, google the SYMA S107

I think my link above is one of the the best £20(ish) toys about and it is significantly better than the ones without the gyros.

I'm not voting on this deal, sorry. Its good value for money for what it is, but I am quite confident that it will not be very good. Best spend a bit more if you can.

.....but much more than twice as good, in my opinion.

Agreed. I spoke to a friend of a friend when I was looking for one, he recommended a three or four channel one for proper flying ability. My four channel one cost £50, and while it got crashed ALOT when I first had it, it's great fun now. I couldn't recommend that sort of helicopter for a kid though.

Which one did you get for £50.00?
Is it indoor or outdoor?

Ordered 3, these are great fun for the kids Indoor or Outdoor, I have a 3 channel and a Nitro/Petrol Helicopter which are something you can't let the kids play with unsupervised.

Some very useful discount codes for Debenhams in this posting, thanks

Thanks a ton and ordered

Cheers
