Sim city (2013) Limited edition £33.50 in Tesco (Plus free EA Game)

Found 9th Mar 2013
Some people are saying RRP for this is £35 but pretty sure it is £45 as priced on Origin.

Cheapest price is £35 from Amazon but you still have the wait for the game to be delivered. Buy quick from Tesco and get the limited edition for £33.50.

EA have said due to server problems if your game is activated before 18th March you will get a free EA game, No mention of which game but should be something half decent hopefully for the trouble.

simcity.com/en_…ble

"And to get us back in your good graces, we’re going to offer you a free PC download game from the EA portfolio. On March 18, SimCity players who have activated their game will receive an email telling them how to redeem their free game."

No point in "buying quick" unless you have collosal amounts of time to burn waiting for EA to let you play the game.

They've already screwed players over once; saying "you can have a free unnamed game if you don't demand a refund within 14 days of release" is a sure-fire sign that they'll screw you over again.

The game is available to play online, for free, in all its glory: tholman.com/pla…13/

Watched a friend playing last night and today, and everything went smooth for him, apart from a little longer wait to join servers last night (We're talking 1-2 minutes). Another friend bought a copy, activated and played fine this afternoon. I bought myself a copy, but sadly Simplygames screwed up and sent me an invalid Cd key.

So yeah, seems like the U.K avoided the worst of the launch issues the U.S did, at least from what I have seen, and I would imagine a Friday night/ Saturday afternoon would be peak Sim City playing hours...

Yet again, EA making mac users wait ages until they release it on OSX

As much as there are problems with this I still want to play it.

I've been playing all night with zero server issues

Yep, been playing all evening with no problems. I'll agree it was a very bad launch but they've improved things quicker than I expected.

Tesco on the other hand, they're in my bad books for failing to deliver my pre-order on time, they'll be getting it back when it finally arrives!

Heat given as its a decent price against the RRP, but probably no point in posting any Sim City deals as there are to many haters out there.

I am tempted, as I loved the original Sim City on my SNES! But I found the later versions kind of complicated... once the server issues are sorted, is this is a reasonably easy game to play? I don't want to spend days learning how to play!

Cannot find on tesco website?

Haters? Didn't you hear, the main reason for the problems is that people love the game too much!

But meh, whatever. If you still want to buy the game after all this, you deserve everything you get.

Yes I did read that and their BS made me laugh, like they were only expecting people to play for 30 minutes or something.

But I stand by my comment about haters, there are plenty of people who are just going to vote this game cold regardless of the price. As for deserving everything I get, so far I've had an evening of enjoyable gaming with no server issues, hopefully that's what you think I deserve?

its not that the servers don't work its that they had to disable features and its hallways on online connection only and I can only save to an ea server? why not to my PC? what if the server crashes mid game I'm pretty sure I can't save then. **** excuses for no offline singleplayer

yeh its very easy to pick up and play and the more you learn the deeper you can go its learning curve is spot on

Going to give it a couple of weeks. Got plenty of other stuff to play and positive (as Crysis 3 did) the price will drop shortly and sharply.

you can get it on greenman as a downloadable code for about £35 through origin. <--- if you can't be arsed to leave your house!

Brilliant thanks... might wait a while for server issues to be sorted then buy.

I pre-ordered this at the end of January and, after past experience with Tesco, found titles turned up within a day of the release date. Their site even says that they aim to get pre-orders to you by release day.

Admittedly SimCity has a rough release, but this post is about Tesco. Four days on and my game is still listed as "Sent for fulfilment" and marked as "awaiting dispatch." No effort has been made to meet the release date.

After extensive enquiry with Tesco, I was first fobbed off with a 10 working day delivery date even though the site says 8 working days is max for outlying islands. I live in London...

Later I was told that the Limited Edition had been "delayed" and that they are sending the standard edition and E-Mailed me a code to upgrade to Limited Edition which I can't redeem until I get the standard copy.

Whilst people have trouble logging into the servers, I have trouble getting hold of the game full stop from Tesco Direct.

Hey Guys TESCO Tweeted me before as I was chasing this. Here the link as still 33.50 in stores. tesco.com/dir…883

This no longer appears to be the Limited Edition.
