Which would be the best out of this the honor v20 and a POCOphone?

Heat for price.

Be aware, no buyers remorse:

I agree. I had both Pixel 2 and 3 and haven't noticed much difference other than the screen size. As 3a is noticeably slower launching apps (according to some reviews) compared to 3, I suspect that 2 is actually slightly faster than 3a.

If I didn't already have 3 (and wireless charging in my car), I'd definitely get this 2 XL

I have the view 20, and have had the other two, the view 20 is my preferred fir the bigger battery than the pixel, but better camera than the Poco

Unless it goes faulty within 30 days, after 30 days they repair through their after sales support line, within 30 days a refund is possible, I'd love another but returned my last one as fast charge wouldn't work, but they didn't give me any grief, so I could have claimed for a fault even if I'd just changed my mind,

if it wasn't for the fault and only needing a second phone as I have a work phone, I'd have taken another, but in the end I banked most of my refund and grabbed a honor play for 150 instead

View 20s battery is a champ.
Bought this in 128GB white for £200 a couple months back. Way better value for money than the 3a which uses cheaper materials, a slower processor, worse speakers and a worse display.

Oj thx. Was using nova launcher before but only free version. Only least for a day as I've seen some lags and bugs. What's Google companion?
I just purchased the 64gb version of this. Great price for that as well.

Actually i've changed my mind i'm gonna be going for the 128gb version lol

I've not had any issues with the paid version but never tried the free one long term as knew it was my only viable alternative. The companion app is made by the designer of nova Launcher but it isn't allowed on the play store so you'll have to get it from apkmirror. It adds the swipe right for Google like you'd get on a pixel. In my case it gets rid of Bixby and adds that!

I know, but we might even get another year support after that (if we're lucky) just like the og pixel did. The og pixel is gonna get Android Q, even though pie was the last update.

I am really liking my v20. I may well wait for the honor 20 due for release in around 14 days but it is a brilliant phone. Quite big but one handed mode works a treat and available for not much more than 300 on ebay. Pocophone 2 around the corner. My advice is wait till July and prime day and you'll have a lot of bargains flying around.
Hot! I've got the 128GB one! Far more better then the Pixel 3a.
Is this worth bothering with? Still seems steep for a 2 year old phone (considering these things age like crazy these days)

I don't like the sound of the crappy blue tint the screen has......

I have been tempted myself as I currently have a OnePlus 3T and even went as far as reserving this.
When you consider what the price of this device was when released it is a pretty decent deal even for today's standards.
Yes, it might not be cutting edge in terms of it's specs but if you want a phone to just work with good user experience out of the box then you can't go too far wrong here.
Regarding the blue tint on the screen, this was an issue reported at launch and I understand Google fixed it with later releases of the hardware. So it will depend on when it was manufactured whether it will have the blue tint issue. Many have not seen it as a deal breaker for day-to-day use.

But for now I think I will stick with my 3T and have today just flashed Android Pie on it so will keep it fresh for a bit longer until I feel a real need to upgrade to something else.

Cheers, that's a fair point, if the blue screen issue is sorted then I'm certainly tempted. I'm looking at the screen protectors and cases from amazon which is normally an ominous sign for me taking the plunge......

EDIT: No, it's not sorted. It's horrible - Avoid the 2 XL.
Edited by: "littlejimmy" 16th May
Picked up the 64Gb white version today for £349.99. Very happy.
Have the screen issues been fixed? I wasn't too concerned about the blue screen when moving the phone at an angle, I had an early version and it just scratched too easily - and that was just me using it around the house - no pockets.
If these are brand new, then get this over the 3a series that's just come out. Better processor, GPU and battery capacity.
Does it come with a screen protector? The reviews of the ones on amazon are awful

Yeah anyone know where we can good ones?

And no, not the white dome ones, they're too expensive.

Not battery capacity.

Pixel 3a XL 3700 mAh
Pixel 2 XL 3520 mAh

Also Pixel 3a XL processor is more energy efficient compared to Pixel 2 XL
ive reserved a 128gb in white but i'm still unsure whether to get another or wait until later in the year to see what else comes out

The 3a Pixel can't match the 845 for raw power though. GPU is weaker. The front facing speakers are better too.

I do agree with your comment about efficiency and battery size.
Hot. is as close to a perfect phone as I can imagine. I would buy another at this price in a heartbeat if I trashed mine.
Just sold my 2XL, which for the most part was a very good phone...in its day. 2XL is notably sluggish after a number of weeks usage. If the camera on the 3a is as good as the 2XL, that's probably where my money would go.

Headphone jack could be key for some people too on the 3a, however water resistance IP67 of the 2XL might be more important for others.

Pixel 3a screen is vastly, vastly better than the 2XL. As will the battery life likely be.

Swings / roundabouts.

My money is on the 3a...the screen on the 2XL is ghastly.

While a factory reset can help the sluggishness, I have to admit that the screen was definitely sub par even for it's day. I get a lot of black crush on mine when scrolling through web pages on less than half max brightness (sounds like an uncommon test scenario but trust me it's noticeable day to day), imo it's a lot more noticeable than the slight blue tint issue.

The camera is still an absolute beast though, the only thing drawing me away from the phone is the battery being 'average' and the lack of shooting options (here's hoping Google realises and equips the Pixel 4 with at least an ultra wide and maybe a telephoto). For consistent 'point and shoot' photo-taking, the Pixel line is among the very best

Then you should have made it clean & lean and got rid of the junk in the trunk, with a factory hard reset and stuck Android 10 Qbert on it... mine zips along!

The 410ppi screen on the new, old Pixel 3a, is gash compared to the full pOLED on the 540ppi Pixel 2 XL screen, not only technically, but in the real world, I thought something would be better on the 3a, as its newer, hoping that it would be the screen, its not, after messing about with both variants for an hour, doing the same thing on my Pixel 2 XL, its a minus mark for the 3a on that front!

The IP67 water rating is another bonus on the 2 XL, as the 3a can only be splashed a bit, its a bit naff holding one as well, as it not only looks like plastic, it is plastic, with a real plastic, cheap feel!

I know its meant to be the "budget" mid range phone of the Quarter, but with the elephant eyebrow size bezels chucked in for good measure, Google have missed the boat on combating the Huawei & Xiaomi influx of cheaper handsets
kghunt09/05/2019 16:37

With only just over a year of security and software updates.

Most people who care about updates (you and me) also care about Custom ROMs, of which there is, and will be, a wide selection of options. Besides, Google has updated the Pixel / Pixel XL past it's guaranteed years as well so there's a slim chance for the Pixel 2 as well.

To add to this, the Pixel 2 XL hardware is so substantially better than the Pixel 3a XL's, that it should be a no brainier. With the Pixel 3 XL cheaper than the 3a non-xl last week (look on expired deals), and the regular 3 commonly cheaper, the 3a isn't a good deal in the UK.
I have the 128gb version and the screen issues honestly aren't anything that you'll worry about on a day to day basis. More annoying for me is the speaker rattle that happens anywhere above 60% volume. Photos also seem a bit darker compared to my original pixel XL but overall still a brilliant phone.
