NFC is still very much a premium feature. FP scanner, you might have a point there - but still. Gotta pay up to get the good stuff.

Don't think any one expects it to be on par with a £600 phone what a terrible comparison

Specs on Argos Website seem to imply it does have NFC

Connectivity:

  • Wi-Fi.
  • Bluetooth.
  • NFC.
  • GPS.

Not that it bothers me as I just need a cheap phone to replace the missus' ageing, shattered S4 mini. So the less features, the better

Went out of my way to buy a phone with NFC but I never use it as I have a phone case in which I can store cards and notes so just use that instead. Not such a useful feature as I thought.

Add to the fact that the J3 is £130 with a lot less spec. .... and no fingerprint scanner. It's pretty much the benchmark from a UK retailer

The irony being that iPhones didn't have NFC in 2010.

1. I have my phone in a leather flip case and the NFC works absolutely fine
2. Try Google Pay (previously Android Pay) and you'll probably never want to go back

The advantage of NFC (and Google Pay) is that you can see a list of transactions. If you just care about the easy of payment, I would agree that a case with a credit card compartment is just as good.

You don't tend to lose two things at once when out and about: ergo it strikes me as fairly silly to store all your cards, cash *and* phone together. Makes much more sense to keep these two things separate. That way if you lose your wallet you can still pay for something with your phone (and phone the bank) and if you lose your phone...well you still have access to money.

Are people's pockets really so tiny?
