Owned mine for 3 days now, must say, for this not being a flagship device, and under £160, it's an absolute bargain.

I switched from a Galaxy S7, and barring the camera and screen difference, I much prefer this phone. The camera is still more than good enough though, so don't let it put you off! And obviously it's not Amoled, like the S7, but it's still FHD+, has fingerprint unlocking as well as Face Unlocking, which is extremely accurate and reads fast.
I actually can't recommend this phone enough, I love it, the missus is also swapping her iPhone 6s for this.

This or the huawei p smart?
Plus £10 cashback last time I checked. I haven't clicked through but may also work with a rolling SIM only plan as per previous posts.

Na, this phone isn't on contract, just sim free.
£10 topcashback /Quidco. Great price.
Had this phone, not even good as spare.
Good price though
Got this and its great. You could pay more for higher spec but this is decent enough for most people
Xiaomi a1? Or this? A1 is as low as 110£

Totally agree. My friend got one also two months before. He is happy with everything bases on this price.
I returned mine found the CPU with heavy EMUI rather laggy at times,no fast charging, micro USB,below average camera, poor battery life. Would rather get Moto G6 Plus when it comes out

There is no honour owning an honor.
Ordered, many thanks, OP. This is for someone who won't be playing heavy games, and won't need to charge more than once a day, so she'll be chuffed to bits.

I have to say the A1, got my A1 about a week ago and have to say this... great build quality + Clean Android = wonderful experience. Camera is not bad either.

I bought the A1 too, and loving it. I got it via the eGlobalcentral ebay store. Happy to take a bit of a risk for myself and glad I did, but their ebay store isn't selling anything anything any more and I needed something for a family member that will have a full UK guarantee.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good case for the Honor 9 Lite, please?

I suggest one of these two options:

amazon.co.uk/Hon…c=1
+
amazon.co.uk/OMO…c=1

Or

Not sure what you're expecting out of a spare phone, especially at this price.

I personally preferred the feel-in-hand of the P Smart. There's a very slim chance the P Smart will get faster updates but who can say. The Honor 9 Lite has a slightly better selfie camera on paper.

This made me feel good. Ordered on for £170 on Amazon (had vouchers) after a stupid amount of research and will be arriving tomorrow. Glad to hear its so good. Tried a Moto G5 and had to send it back due to serious overheating. Cheers for the good news.
Currently in contract SIM only with Three UK. Had delivery of a Sony Xperia L2 but for love nor money I cannot get it to get anything approaching a 4g signal, at the same locations my old iPhone 6 plus would get full 4g. I'm looking at replacing it with this Honor 9 Lite. For those in the know In theory will this work alright with Three's 4g bands etc? Just don't want to spend out on this, and then have to go through again afterwards for something else.
Apparently doesn't have 5ghz WiFi so check if you require that.

Had mine for about a month now, phone is ok, camera is very poor in low light; on sunny days is fine. Screen readability in direct sunlight is almost impossible to read, charging is very slow. All in all is a good phone for the money.
Had mine a few days now very pleased Argos £169 with a £10 gift card spending over £100, bought a 16gb sd card £9.99 boosting the phone to 48gb
Currently got Honor 6x worth buying lite 9?

I sincerely hope it doesn't disappoint you James.

It's all down to personal preference I suppose. I prefer the large screen, I think the device itself looks fantastic, the fingerprint reader and face unlock are extremely quick and responsive, with my Galaxy S7 I had to press the home button first before it read my print, this doesn't require that, simply place your finger on the unlock and it's honestly instant.

There are obviously cons, buy they're not enough to put you off in my opinion, the camera, in good light, is actually very good, not so much in low light, but you have a flash! And if you're used to stock Android, you may take a little time adjusting to EMUI, but you can change the home style in the settings or simply install Google Now Launcher from the Play Store.

Sound is above average for a sub £200 device, call quality is excellent, and they provide a free case and headphones in the box, I'd recommend getting yourself a Screen protector though.
Regarding a comment above, I have had absolutely no issues with sunlight readability and the charging is no slower than any other device I have owned.

Keep me posted James, I'd be interested to see how you like or dislike the device. Thanks
Looks good but one review said there's no NFC which is a big deal as I rely on Google pay.

Thanks. It's a contender then. I currently have the Lenovo P2 which has been brilliant but in the last 2 months or so the battery seems to be draining much quicker so might be time for a new phone.

Personally I would backup your phone and reset it and set it up from scratch as whatever is draining the battery would probably be gone.

Hi SSIG!

Sounds perfect for the family member I've bought this for. How good is the free case? Any chance you could post a quick pic?

I was thinking of going for this case (< link) from iRomek above (cheers!) but I might not have to if the case is good.

Thanks.

Thanks for the comment and tips. I'm waiting on it arriving right now, very exciting.
I will be easier to please than most here probably. I'm going from an LG Spirit, which has 1gig of memory, 8gig of storage, is 4.7 inch screen (I think) and has a common fault that means the GPS has never worked properly. As I said, I briefly tried the Moto G5 which was faulty, but I think from my short time with that, most modern smartphones will probably make me think I'm looking at magic!
I'm into tech etc but have resisted getting a new phone for so long, I literally cannot manage with what I have any more. I'll try and remember to pop up on here in a couple of days to give a bit of feedback. Cheers!

I can trump that (just!)..... This is replacing a family member's Galaxy Fame - I'm going to have to trim the sim card!

If they're coming from that phone they will be bowled over by this one. The Fame is one of the slowest phones ever lol

Wow. I think the sim cards are credit card sized in those. This is the beauty of being behind in technology terms. Any upgrade is a delight. If I got a Iphone X today, it'd seriously stress me out more than improve my life probably. Congrats on the upgrade
Also any current owners out there..the only one thing I'm concerned about is durability. It's not quite expensive enough to insure imo, but how careful do you have to be with it? Getting mixed messages online. I hate screen protectors but am feeling it might be necessary on here, given the lack of Gorilla glass and the glass back etc? It's not a deal breaker as I'm pretty careful anyway, and have bought this regardless. Just curious really.
I was just looking at my cruddy old LG Spirit and the screen is pristine without ever having a case or anything (4 years heavy use, hiking, camping, factory work, being thrown around), but I was surprised to see it does actually have Gorilla glass!?. Never knew that until today.

BTW, talking of insurance, I did get a quote out of curiosity, and it would cost around £5 a month on average.

Was just asking about durability but scrolled up to your message. I have ordered that case. I'm not mad keen on cases like this but to me it's better than a screen protector and bumper cover just about.
